Immigration laws require all travelers to have valid documentation regardless of their wealth, status, or nationality; even highly successful individuals like Africa's second richest man, Abdul Samad Rabiu (chairman of BUA Group), were denied entry into South Africa when his visa expired by one day, demonstrating that immigration authorities enforce rules uniformly without exceptions for prominent figures.

“SA RESPECTS NOBODY! AFRICA’S 2ND RICHEST NIGERIAN MAN DENIED SA VISAAdded:
Some about free trade movement of people in Africa.
And again, I had a personal experience.
Last year, February 2025, I was traveling to Cape Town for the Mining Indaba in South Africa.
And as we landed, and it was a red eye, so I left at night from Lagos to Cape Town. We arrived at 6:00 in the morning.
And as we arrived, went to the immigration, attended my passport. The immigration officer looked at it, and he was like, "Where's your visa?"
And I said, "My visa is there."
Unknown to me, my visa had expired the day before.
And I was What happened? Unfortunately, our crew did not check the visas to ensure that the visas were valid. We were there for 4 hours, but at the end of the day, I had to turn back. I was turned back to Lagos.
But the issue is, while we were waiting, you know, to see whether we'd be able to get access into the country without a visa, there were like three international flights from Europe.
All the three flights were mostly Europeans.
I was standing there by the immigration desk, and each and every passenger on those three flights went into Cape Town without any visa at all.
I do not have a problem with the fact that I was there without a visa, and I was returned.
I took full responsibility of that.
But I had an issue being an African in Africa, being turned away because I do not have a visa, and foreigners from other continents were coming in, our allowed to enter without a visa.
Hey guys.
Welcome back to my channel. This is your first time, welcome. Please subscribe to my channel, like my video, share my video, and leave your comments on the comment section.
South Africans Our whole the second richest billionaire in the world, the owner of BUA, Rabiu was denied visa to enter South Africans.
And South Africans have come to see, so what?
In fact, guys, let me allow you watch videos of what people are saying and then we'll come back and talk about it.
And always, credit goes to the original owners of this video. And the purpose of this video Meanwhile, Africa's second richest individual, Abdul Samad Rabiu, the chairman of BUA Group, speaking at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali, recounted how he was denied entry into South Africa last year while trying to enter the country with a visa that had expired by a single day. The billionaire stated that he was ultimately sent back to Lagos, but that when he was being turned away, three flights from Europe landed and every passenger got through visa free.
Let's take a look.
about free trade movement of people in Africa.
And again I threw visa free. Rabiu is diplomatically calling out what many Africans already know. The African Union talks about integration and free movement, but when it comes to actual implementation, we're still treating like outsiders while rolling out the red carpet for everyone else. All of this is And And you know, sometimes in South Africa we get blamed for for silly things.
Right?
So, the chief executive officer of BUA, BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Abdul Samad Rabiu he's complaining that South Africa denied him entry into the country because his visa had expired.
I mean what do you expect South Africa to do?
You You You are acknowledging that your visa expired. Whether it expired a day before or 2 days before a month before, you are acknowledging that your visa expired.
So, why didn't you throw tantrums and say South Africa is not allowing you to into the country? What are you expecting South Africa to do? To say because you are a you're a Nigerian millionaire, you are rich and famous, you have to be let into the country for free?
That's nonsense, though. And And then his argument, he says that Europeans I was standing there and the Europeans were being let into the country. You don't know what the status of those Europeans are.
So, now you're you're pushing this xenophobic anti-African nonsense simply because you forgot to renew your visa. But also the other problem for me is that how did he get this to to South Africa?
Cuz at some point, wherever he came from, be it Nigeria or wherever, somebody should have checked his visa.
So, it means somebody somewhere made sure that he gets out of wherever he was without the proper documentation.
So, this man is acknowledging that he he he committed crime. He broke the law.
But then he gets to South Africa and then he's complaining that South Africa um doesn't want to let him into the country.
The entitlement of people like this needs to be dealt with because now you want South Africa to look bad.
But then you forget that your visa expired, my guy.
What do you want South Africa to do?
Like I mean, it's like me walking into uh the airports flying to Durban, simple thing like that. And then I get there, I had forgotten my documents, you know, like you need to produce your identity license or whatever. And I say, "Oh, oops, I don't have it."
And then I come back and say SAA or FlySafair did not want to let me fly.
But they were letting white people go through.
But at the end of the day, it's me who did not have the right documents. I find this very stupid, to tell the truth. It's very stupid because now you are trying to to to create this victim mentality as if South Africa did something wrong.
I don't care if you are a chief executive of whatever of BUA or whether you are president of the country or you own what. Your visa expired, full stop.
Go fix it and come back.
Do not expect any favors. Simply If If you get away with such nonsense in Nigeria, fine.
But don't come to our country and then expect to be given free pass simply because of who you are.
It's nonsensical.
And and I hate the fact that now he goes out there, the Nigerian media is running with it, other media houses are running with it as if South Africa has done something wrong.
This nonsense has to stop, man. It has to.
It's 13 minutes past 12. Lunch is served. See how ashamed they catch me for here.
The chief executive officer of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu says that South Africa denied him visa, IN FACT, DENIED HIM ENTRY INTO South Africa because his visa was expired.
Yes.
Can you believe that? Now, the news says that the businessman described the experience as unfair and discriminatory.
Yes.
But I don't know. Why would you enter someone's country with expired visa now?
Huh, sir?
Sir?
Sir?
Well, to me I feel this is a wake-up call. Mhm? Let us fix our own country, Nigeria.
Let us make our own country conducive for us all now.
Yes.
South Africans say they don't want Nigerians again. They don't want us again in their country.
Yes. Honestly, this is unfair. It's very very unfair, but it is what it is.
We have to move on. Let us make OUR OWN COUNTRY BETTER.
BUT THEN AGAIN, YOU KNOW, SOUTH AFRICANS living in Nigeria, how far?
Mhm?
South Africans living IN NIGERIA, HOW FAR?
MHM?
SO, this billionaire, supposed billionaire from Nigeria, does not understand visa-free entry.
Visa-free entry.
A billionaire that's uh supposedly well-traveled. He does not understand visa-free entry. He also does not understand the meaning of the word expired.
Expired. I don't know how they say it in Nigerian. Expired.
Expired.
Whether it's 1 day, 2 days, 300 days, a million days, it's expired, right?
Expired means expired.
And visa-free entry is visa-free entry.
Whether these people were Europeans or Africans, when they have visa-free entry into South Africa, they have visa-free entry.
A billionaire does not understand visa-free entry, expired.
Whoever paid for the propaganda in Nigeria and Ghana, they must go and ask for their money back because it's it's embarrassing.
It's really embarrassing.
That is how Ebuka here react. Let's react. Chairman of BUA Group recalled an incident in which he was denied entry into South Africa after his visa expired just one day before his scheduled trip.
Okay.
He stated, "South Africans once denied me entry over an expired visa, but allowed Europeans."
Okay. Maybe maybe this maybe this he further highlighted what he described as an irony in that immigration process noting that some some European travelers were reportedly permitted entry without visas while he, one of Africa's leading business figures, was refused entry.
Okay. So, basically this guy is a and on the headline on the bottom here Nigerian billionaire Mr. Abdul reveals South Africa basically declining him entry with an expired visa in this country.
So, okay.
The comments are really interesting.
So, there's Nelson saying that to those believe to those who believe Nigerians are suffering simply because they travel abroad are mistaken.
Nigerians have always been known for their resilience, intelligence, and entrepreneurial spirit. Traveling beyond our borders is not a sign of weakness or hardship.
It's a deliberate pursuit of opportunity, growth, and global impact.
Okay. What are you talking about?
Okay.
Just like citizens of China, United States, and other nations, Nigerians explore the world to expand businesses, build networks, and achieve success. Our global presence does not diminish the value of our homeland. Nigeria remains a nation rich in culture, talent, and immense What is this person saying?
>> [laughter] >> Across Yeah, yeah, I'm just you know, I guess yeah, it goes on and on and on. What I like about the comment but I Yes, George.
>> [laughter] >> We still NEED THE DOCUMENTS.
WE NEED THE DOCUMENTS.
>> [laughter] >> But Nigerians and mental health problems, it's becoming too serious and sad, guys.
>> [laughter] >> Okay, so back to the heart of the matter.
Um we can all agree that we have to know that some nations can enter this country without visas and some nations require a visa to enter this country and vice versa. We need a visa to enter Nigeria.
Yeah.
But America does not need a visa to enter this country. They have 90 days visa-free to enter this country because their passport is that powerful.
Yeah, so Yeah, regarding Regardless, if you own two rand in your name and regardless if you have 20 billion in your name the lady the lady at the border post at the border patrol or at the airport will want your papers.
>> [laughter] >> Will want your papers.
>> [laughter] >> What document? What documents do you have?
>> [laughter] >> I might as well just cancel this.
I'm sure you're all noticing this narrative that's taking shape online painting us South Africans as the villains of the continent. This man over here, he is a Nigerian billionaire. He spoke at an event in Rwanda just recently and said he was traveling to Cape Town last year and they denied him entry because his visa had expired, okay? But he says um to his surprise he noticed Europeans were allowed entry into the country without visas. Of course, we know that. Um citizens of EU member states get up to 90 days visa-free entry into South Africa. We know that, whether it's for business or tourism.
In response to that story, this man over here, and this man is not just anybody.
He is in public office, he's a senator.
He twists the story. He basically says um the billionaire was denied visa entry and says that all the xenophobia has escalated from the streets all the way to government. Now, we can have another conversation about illegal immigration in this country. We can. Um but when you start to lie about what's actually happening and contributing to the narrative, yeah, that's what I'm going to take issue with.
And I know there's home affairs corruption, we can talk about that all day, but this senator should be asking a very important question. How was this billionaire able to board a flight with an expired visa?
And yes, before somebody points it out on TikTok cuz some of you are rude, I do need a haircut and charge my phone.
Yeah.
See.
South Africa is irrespector of nobody.
South Africa now proved and showed us you can be a billionaire in your country, but when you are coming to South Africa, you are coming to South Africa as a normal man.
Just like the saying goes that when you are coming to equity, you must come with a clean hand.
>> [laughter] >> Because tell me why the second richest man, black man in the world, was rejected South African visa to enter South Africa, and he has businesses in South Africa.
I know Nigerians who come out there say, "Oh, it's xenophobic out there. South Africans, they hate Nigerians so much.
That was why they denied Robbie you visa.
The owner of BUA to get into South Africa. But, some other South Africans coming out to say, "But, it makes no sense. You and I know that this man is not coming to South Africa to live in South Africa. He's coming for business.
He's coming so that he can also better the life of South Africans. Because whether you like it or not, once he has businesses in South Africa, the citizens of South Africans will be the ones to benefit from his businesses, not Nigerians. So, why are you guys now chasing him out? Why are you guys rejecting him from entering your country?" And people are like, "Yeah, it's wrong." Because a owner of DSTV MTN cannot be coming to Nigeria because of what this beef that's happening between South Africans and Nigerians Nigerians will not allow him into Nigeria. That sometimes then South Africans should use their head.
That this is for business purposes. He's not coming He has a lot of money, houses everywhere in the world, and the world will even be happy for his business to be in their country. So, what are South Africans feeling like? So, Nigerians are really not happy. Nigerians are really like >> [snorts] >> They are really disappointed and they say that you have done this to this man, and they are going to do the same thing to your people. But, definitely, you know, these people saying they are not the government.
Anyway, guys, thank you for watching today's episode. I'll see you on my next episode. Bye for now.
