Trump and White House fire back at Kimmel over Melania 'expectant widow’ joke

[00:00:07]You know, Melania's birthday is on Sunday. That's right. She's planning to celebrate at home same way she always does, looking out a window and whispering, "What have I done?"

[00:00:20]>> [laughter] >> As the First Lady of the United States pointed out this morning, just 2 days prior to the shooting, ABC's late-night host Jimmy Kimmel disgustingly called First Lady Melania Trump an expectant widow. Who in their right minds says a wife would be glowing over the potential murder of her beloved husband? And having experienced what I did with the First Lady on Saturday night, I can tell you that she was anything but that. This kind of rhetoric about the president, the First Lady, and his supporters is completely deranged, and it's unbelievable that the American people are consuming it night after night after night. Um I think that they are severely wasting their time making comments about somebody expressing um using their right of free speech. And I think that there are countless other things that they could they could be doing as president and First Lady. I think Disney and and ABC are extremely lucky that Donald Trump wasn't assassinated on Saturday for how I've 2 days after Jimmy Kimmel made the joke about expectant widow. If that had happened, there would be an a a backlash against them that would that that like they've never seen before. I mean, this guy Trump goes on TV and says stuff about everybody.

[00:01:32]You can talk about the Pope, but you can't but nobody can talk about him. So, there's there's uh definitely double standards when it comes to to Trump and his establishment and his people. That's what I say. It'd It'd be silly. It's stupid. It's a TV show. You're at war. The entire world is suffering because of your mistake going to a war with Iran, and you're worried about Jimmy Kimmel? It's Jimmy Kimmel. I mean, I like the guy, but he's not that important, you know?
