Imo Council Of Elders Submits Charter Of Equity To Gov UzodimmaAdded:
I'd rather Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, says full implementation of the Charter of Equity will pave the way for peace and sustainable political stability in the state. The governor said this while receiving a document on the Charter of Equity from the Imo State Council of Elders at the Government House in Owerri. Our senior reporter, Prince Uba, has more.
Members of the Imo State Council of Elders are here at the banquet hall of Government House in Owerri ahead of the presentation of their report to Governor Hope Uzodinma. We humbly advise that your Excellency be guided accordingly.
Moments later, the governor arrives and proceedings begin with the formal presentation of Charter of Equity, an initiative aimed at promoting inclusivity, fairness, and political stability among the three senatorial districts in the state. Receiving the document, Governor Uzodinma describes the framework as timely, noting that it addresses concerns of exclusion and imbalance in state's political structure. With this law in place and with this audio in place, I don't need to lobby anybody to know where the next governor will come from.
I don't need to lobby anybody to know when it will be their turn to contest governorship.
There are in the three senatorial districts in Imo State, there is no one zone you will not be able to see a good material to be a governor.
The only thing is that you must wait for your turn. So, your recommendation I have received, I will go further. I will consult all of I will consult all of I will consult all of The most important thing is that all of us are in agreement that the most expedient and important thing to do is to structure this political arrangement for sustainability and the peace of Imo State. Chairman Imo Council of Elders, Cleatus Ilomuanya, says the Charter reflects a collective commitment by stakeholders to foster unity and ensure fair representation across all parts of the state. As we honor this charter today, let it not end as words spoken, but action lived in appointments, in projects, in opportunities, and in the respect we are called to one another.
More so, let it be recorded that in our own time, we choose to build an Imo state where no zone is left behind. Governor Uzodinma also links past insecurity and political instability in the state to lack of inclusivity in governance, stressing the need for deliberate efforts to correct existing imbalances.
Efforts are now underway to engage key stakeholders across the three senatorial districts as the state moves toward implementing the Charter of Equity.
