In water lilies, small flies are the primary pollinators on the first day of flower opening; they are attracted to nectar at the flower's center, where they often drown in the nectar puddle, but this natural death helps stir and mix the pollen, ensuring proper pollination and reproduction of the plant.

Bug Drowning In Waterlily Nectar : That's NormalAdded:
This probably isn't going to end well.
Um on the first day of opening often uh usually it's little tiny flies, not bees, that are the most uh likely pollinator. And these little flies at the base of the center cup is a puddle of nectar and they often die a tragic, horrible death struggling struggling to set themselves free. And in so doing, they help stir and mix in the pollen and make sure it gets deposited, right? So um I'm not going to do an intervention here. I'm just letting nature take its course uh to a sweet, nectary, wet grave.
