The DMK's decision to sever ties with Congress and request separate parliamentary seating has created new political opportunities for the BJP, which is seeking a two-thirds majority to pass constitutional amendments like the women's reservation bill; the BJP is exploring issue-based cooperation with the DMK despite their previous opposition to delimitation, as the DMK holds 22 Lok Sabha and 8 Rajya Sabha seats that could help the BJP reach the critical 70-vote threshold needed for constitutional amendments.

Tamil Nadu Politics | Congress-DMK Divorce Raises BJP's Hopes Of New Delhi AffairAdded:
The BJP is sharpening its strategy in Parliament aiming [music] for the elusive two-thirds majority and in this high stakes numbers game the DMK has suddenly emerged as a possible player to watch out for. After severing [music] ties with the Congress, the DMK has formally requested to sit separately in Parliament. That move has triggered fresh calculations in Delhi's corridors of power. Sources say the BJP [music] sees potential opportunities in this shift, opportunities that could help push through key constitutional [music] amendments including the women's reservation bill where the government previously fell short. Ashwarya joining me live on this story. Ashwarya, it's a striking turn given that the DMK has been [music] one of the loudest voices against delimitation. Even talking about it is striking in many ways, isn't it?
Well, certainly it's going to be difficult for the Bharatiya Janata Party, but the resources in the BJP clearly stating that they want to be close to the majority mark and therefore the reason perhaps if the DMK comes with the Bharatiya Janata Party with 22 of their MPs in Lok Sabha and eight of their MPs in Rajya Sabha, certainly they could be close. Of course, they're not looking at full support on an alliance in the NDA, but you know, issue-based you know, issue-based laws that the DMK can support the Bharatiya Janata Party. Perhaps after the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls results, there are many things that have changed. The DMK has written to the Lok Sabha speaker recently that they do not want to sit alongside with the Congress party in Lok Sabha and therefore the seating arrangement should change and from there the dynamics have changed. The Bharatiya Janata Party state unit in Tamil Nadu have been told as per our sources to be in touch with the DMK so that DMK can come in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Of course, it's a long game because the BJP is short of 70 you know votes as far as the two-third majority in Lok Sabha is concerned to pass any constitutional amendment. They failed the recent past, but certainly in the upcoming days if they wanted to bring some constitutional amendment and the parties like YSRCP, the BJD can support them. But it's difficult as I'm saying because the remarks that recently the DMK leaders have made regarding Sanatan Dharam is something that Yes, absolutely. party is not like.
