Royal Ball Python eggs typically hatch 5-10 days after their due date, and if eggs haven't hatched by the 10-day mark, they should be cut open to assist the hatchlings; the video demonstrates the process of checking eggs for movement, cutting un-hatched eggs to reveal baby snakes, and explaining that the black-headed phantom gene can help reduce neurological disorders in spider gene offspring.

Royal Ball Python eggs hatching and cutting!Added:
[music] >> Well, a very good morning to each and every single one of you. Thank you for joining us here at The Snake Show.
Oh, and I hope that you all had an amazing bank holiday weekend. And for once, the bank holiday Monday, the weather was like this today. Glorious. Glorious. So, I hope it went well for everybody and you did lots of exciting things over that extended weekend, which was a little bit, mhm, on the downside for me and Sarah, because Friday morning at 10:30, CityFibre were messing about outside the flat and the internet went.
And I was on the phone, I had to wait 72 hours, I quickly go through it, had to wait 72 hours for they did look into it.
So, they said they'd send an engineer.
So, on Monday morning, I gave them a quick call and they said, "Yeah, an engineer will be out on Tuesday morning." Didn't appear. Was canceled.
Somebody canceled it somewhere. Crazy.
And then today, uh yesterday they said one would be out this morning. So, around 9:00 this morning, what I did do was phone Sky and confirm that definitely was coming this morning.
And that hadn't registered either.
So, spoke to another advisor and hopefully between 1 and 6 today. So, great guy, Danny, sorted it all out in the end. Fingers crossed. Fingers crossed. But as soon as the internet is back, you guys will be watching this video. I hope and pray. Anyway, I hope you will be cuz you wouldn't have known either way. I don't know [laughter] what I'm talking about now.
So, anyway, last night we went to bed and we checked on Sin's eggs. If you've seen any of our other videos, the latest ones, then you'll know that Sin gave us some eggs and they were due to hatch on Friday, Friday the 1st of May. Today is the 6th, so 5 days later. And last night when we went to bed, we checked on these eggs and Sarah did the torch on the eggs to see if there was any movement and there was nothing. So, I personally put it down to, you know, the three eggs that we were left with because she did get egg bound, as you've seen in the other videos.
Um the four that we managed to get out didn't survive and I thought maybe the other three hadn't as well. So, unfortunately, when we looked last night, there was no movement from those eggs.
And like I said, I'd put it down that we'd just lost them because of the move and everything. Kept them nice and warm and, you know, but it's just that whole jiggling about and did the temperatures go up and did temperatures go down? And we had a few problems with the incubator as well, with the temperatures going higher and lower than what we would have liked. Not ideal. It was only by a few cent degrees, but, you know, that could have made all the difference.
We did the spot checks on everybody this morning, like we normally do.
Um we're doing all their waters and making sure there's no sheds and poos and things like that, all the good stuff when you have snakes.
And Sarah went, "The eggs! Two of pit! Two of pit!"
Which is incredible. Um so, so pleased.
Thank you, universe. I was praying to the universe last night that those eggs were going to be okay. Now, we have one that hasn't pipped yet. They're 5 days overdue. It's fine. You can normally leave them around 10 days past their due date. So, don't worry about it if your snakes haven't come out of the eggs after 8, 9 days. But, I would say around that 10-day mark, jump in there and cut them open. So, when we go back into the bedroom in just a few seconds, Sarah will um be cutting very shortly if the third one hasn't pipped. So, let's go check out on those three, well, two definitely new babies and hopefully the third one will be okay as well. And then at least cuz it's going to be Sin's last clutch because she had so many problems. So, at least we've got something to carry on her line. Um so, we'll definitely be keeping one of the three back, you know, so. But, let's go see if that other the third one has pipped. If not, it's going to be a cutting video as well. Hey, doesn't get any better than that. Come on.
Well, here we go.
All excited. All excited. I hope you are too as well. So, Sarah's been bouncing all morning. She won't leave them alone.
She really, really wants to.
And as far as if that egg hasn't hatched or pipped, hatch pipped, sort of the same thing. [music] Um I'm going to cut it cuz Sarah's got to go for the operation on a lump on her hand today. So, she doesn't want to aggravate it. So, Sarah is going to stay on the camera. I'm going to do the cutting. Let's have a look. See if I need to. Hopefully I won't need to.
So excited. So excited.
I'm just so pleased cuz I thought we'd lost all three, being honest.
Um because of the move and the temperature problem we've had and things like that. Let's have a look.
Let's close that up. Keep the other eggs warm. That's all the corn snake eggs in there.
Oh, nose. I can see a nose. Look at that nose. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello.
Baby. Baby.
These lids are really tight, aren't they? Yeah, they are tight. So, the moisture's been good as you can see, a little bit moisture on the side, but not too wet. Hello, it's a little face there.
Look. Hello.
Hello, darling.
Come on. He's probably exhausted because obviously, [clears throat] you know, they use that one tooth. I'll try it.
See if I can find a picture. You know, their egg tooth and then that falls out after they've come out of the eggs.
[music] So, unfortunately, that third one hasn't hatched. So, that means that Glenn has got it. I got has to got it.
Uh we This one's gone back in.
>> Yes, but oh, they're beautiful. I'm going to I want you cut them open a bit more anyway.
>> Yeah, I'll give them a bit more space. I don't know whether you can see that one.
But look at that little nose. Look at that little nose. All right, this is what we're going to do. What we're going to do is um you want to cut?
I want you cut them so I can see their faces.
>> a bit more more. Yeah. Now, these are Sin's whose banana pastel Yeah. spider spider het pied het pied.
And she was bred with um we're not breeders, by the way, but she was with our black-headed phantom. Which is Gizmo.
Which is our Gizmo. So, we never feed him after midnight and we never put him near water. No. [music] Well, yeah.
>> He does have a bath.
>> He does.
>> [laughter] >> Yeah. So, um black-headed phantom is our Giz.
>> So, is there a reason why we paired them two together, Glenn? Yeah, there is actually. And that's really good cuz I nearly forgot. The reason being it's supposedly the black head um combats the [snorts] effects the neurological effects of a spider.
So, it lessens the chances of the babies having any neurological disorders, which the spider is renowned for. So, if you stick a black head with it, there's a good chance that your babies are going to be okay. [music] And that's the research that's gone into it in previous times. Um I'm not exactly sure where and and all the rest of it, but yeah, that's what we've read and we cross you know, we crossed out what I'm looking for.
>> I actually had a word. I went on to Chris Hardwick's life.
>> Yeah. And he did read out my question about that and he did confirm that the blackhead does reduce the neurological >> has confirmed that as well, but yeah, we we cross-referenced it. That's what I'm looking for. So, it's not just one person saying it. I've gone through several books and several internet bits and pieces. So, fingers crossed all three are going to be bursting.
Let's go cut this last one.
Here we go. We're all set up. We're all ready. I did this earlier actually, well, about 5-10 minutes ago. Now, I have washed my hands.
So, you know, to make sure there's no contamination going on to the babies or the babies' eggs and things like that, but I am going to use rubber gloves as well.
Um Stick to your hands when your hands are slightly damp, aren't they?
They are. So, here we go. Tip there, put a little bit of talc on them. Yeah.
There you go. Bit of talc on your hands, then slide them in. Then slide them in.
We've got our little scissors with the round edges. So, see that? So, they don't clip the baby. If you've got pointed ones, you don't want to be jabbing your baby. So, round-headed scissors are always a good thing.
And we've got some baby wipes just in case and a little bit of mopping up bits and pieces. What I'm going to do is I'm going to place this little baby on here.
Um are we doing that one first or this one? The others opened up a bit more.
Yeah, open them up a bit more. Do the babies.
>> [clears throat] >> Hello nurse. Look at that little nose.
Oh, I need my glasses.
A little nose.
Aw.
I wear them glasses guys so please please excuse me. This is not my normal look as you guys know.
Aw, good morning baby.
Good morning sweetheart.
I'm going to do him on this first bit.
Cuz he might have some juices. I'm going to just make a hole a little bit bigger for Sarah so tuck that under.
Little snip there. Mhm.
Hello baby.
Aw, did daddy scare you? So I'm going to pop that under there again. Again, this is where the round tip really really helps. I can't see anything. Wow.
He's definitely got the spider gene in him.
Cuz I can see the spider marks but he's nice.
He's a good color.
Aw. Look at that.
Hello baby. Welcome to the world sweetheart. Aw. Welcome to the world.
I don't know. He [clears throat] might be. He looks like a black-headed phantom actually. Although he No, he's not cuz he's got the head markings. He's got the eye stripe.
>> Aw. The guy has the eye stripe. So we're going to pop him back in so he's gone after his mom a little bit.
And let's have a look at this one. Now I've not seen this one. Slightly bigger egg as well.
So >> [music] >> let's have another look.
I saw this one and this one looks beautiful. The pattern >> It looks very pinky.
It's beautiful. There we go. Let's give you a bit more of a snip.
And we'll go that way.
>> [clears throat] >> And let's have a look. Open it up.
Open it up.
I can't see anything. There's still a lot of juice in there. The blood that you see guys is just the veins and stuff. He definitely Hello.
His head does look a little bit darker.
>> [music] >> So, hopefully he might take after his dad. He's got some good alien head markings there as well.
>> [snorts] >> I think it's definitely a mixture of the both, you know. I think they've got the body of the dad, >> [snorts] >> but there's definitely entry in there cuz I can see some fire coming up as well, look.
Into the side. Lovely.
Lovely jubbly.
Why you taking pictures while you're videoing the the thing? Because That's That's it.
Right. Pop that on there. That's it.
Right then.
Fingers crossed that this little baby is okay, guys. So, what we're going to do is we're going to pinch all the way along nice and gently just to push him down and to make sure squeeze all the veins out of there so it looks less bloody for you guys. There is a little window there.
>> I know, I saw that.
>> as well. We're going to go in there.
We're going to the snake. So, what we're going to do is >> that? Sneaky peeky.
>> Cut across that line.
Very gently, very slowly.
Some all the way along. Look. So, we're just assisting him. He won't need to use that tooth free peg. Just pray that this guy is okay. As you can see, there's a bit of blood on there.
That's the veins, not the snake, so please don't panic. Oh, wow. Oh, he's another beautiful one.
I can't see it.
All right. Okay, this way.
Right. We're going to zoom out a little bit so we can get my fingers in. There we go.
And we'll go this way as well. So, we'll make a little cross.
Have now Have we got movement?
Let's do a pokey pokey test.
Yes. We've got movement, guys. We've We've movement. He's still got a bit more development to go. As you can see, very gooey and uh yolky.
>> [music] >> So, he's got >> Um a fair bit of blood, so what they'll do Yeah, but they just absorb it. So, we've got three that are live.
Hopefully, they'll make it through that stage. I'm going to take the gloves off and take the glasses off.
How excited is that? Yeah, that's exciting.
>> Oh, just want that third one just to come out, absorb everything before he goes out the egg. They've They've got nice big windows now where they can come out. The entrance is there for them.
We're going to keep them in here um at that temperature of around 31.
So, until they get a little bit bigger.
But, fantastic. Well done, Sin and Gizmo. At the end of the day, like I said, that unfortunately will be Sin's because we're [music] not going for that. If you've seen the previous videos, you'll see you know, it took weeks to get the last egg out. And um you know, we spoke to the vet and all sorts and I was [music] pretty worried about her and so was Sarah, but she's she's doing really, really well now, like I previously said. And um let's hope the babies do really well. I'm sure they will. And >> [music] >> um we'll definitely be keeping one back.
You know, for always, so you know, but there might be two, you know, available.
So, do drop us a line and obviously, we'll keep you up to date with all of you know, their progress as we go on.
Now, it's not over just yet because we have got 11 corn eggs in the incubator now, so it's their turn. It's down to them to do their thing. So, hopefully, I think they're around June.
>> Yeah, they are. June the 6th or 7th, something like that. I've got that in my head as well. June the 6th or 7th.
>> so hopefully, we'll have 11 corn snakes.
If anybody's interested in corn snakes because the last clutch that of corn snakes we had were absolutely gorgeous.
I fell in love with nearly all of them and we've got some hold backs on those as well. We still we kept back about four five I think in the end because just can't part with them. They were just simply stunning. Anyway guys, I want to say a huge thank you for joining us today here at the snake shack and the cutting of Sin's very last clutch because like I said, we're not going to put her through that again. So once again, thank you so much for being here.
