In international diplomatic negotiations, parties often use strategic pressure points and phased proposals to advance their interests, as demonstrated by Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz first while postponing nuclear negotiations, which the US must evaluate against its non-negotiable red lines regarding Iran's nuclear program.

Iran Pushes Hormuz Reopening Deal As Ceasefire Holds; US Keeps Firm Nuclear Red LinesAdded:
Well, US and Iran war hits the two-month mark and the guns have fallen silent.
The ceasefire is currently holding, but there is still no peace deal in sight.
After round one of the negotiations failed and round two failed to happen at all, Iran has now floated a new proposal for the United States, which is the reopening of this rate of formoose, ending the war right now. But let's tell you about the cat in all of this because Iran says nuclear negotiations can be done later.
>> A mutual reopening of the strait uh leaving the nuclear discussion for later in the process given that uh the nuclear program has been a red line for this administration. Would the president agree to that kind of phase negotiation?
>> Well, only because it's been reported.
But I will confirm the president has met with his national security team this morning. The meeting may be ongoing, maybe not. I don't want to speak affirmatively because I was prepping to come out here. Um, but the proposal was being discussed. I don't want to get ahead of the president or his national security team. What I will reiterate is that the president's red lines with respect to Iran have been made very, very clear, not just to the American public, but also to them as well.
>> I wouldn't say they're considering it.
But I would just say that there was a discussion this morning that I don't want to get ahead of and you'll hear directly from the president I'm sure on this topic very >> my colleague Mayang joins us on the broadcast with the details. Uh Mayank clear indication that Iran is clear about what it wants. The straight of foremost must be opened end the war right now but will US really be ready for this nuclear negotiations at a later date?
Good morning Pratipa and good morning to the viewers. See both sides are using the pressure points. In this case, state of pormuse was initially started to be used as a strategic tool by Iran but now is US also understood that it has to somehow or the other put the pressure towards the state of Hormuz nuclear I mean nuclear is the main point actually let us uh underline that aspect. We cannot deny that as point. But then doables and and something which can be put uh I mean at least postponed for some time that could be nuclear aspect.
Then doable in this case as sounded by Iran is that uh the state of Hormone should be open for everything because it has a major ripple effect and mind it indirectly it has been also putting some kind of a pressure on us because willingly the this energy security for the larger nations and specifically the Asian continent and India in specific has been because of the almost 120 uh 1/5 part of the energy uh in terms of ratio and proportion has been coming from state of hormone that's the kind of indirect pressure the other Point is exporter nations which were using state of hormones strip uh to pass on their vessels or to export their energy or fuel or oil gas and everything from that side which could be Qatar uh UAE in fact uh Oman Saudi Arabia also was using this passage. This is how the kind of the pressure was. But then as I used the word doable Iran found it that if discussions can take place at least on this because it is pinching them also.
the primary mover and shaker for their economy had been the export of oil and energy to the rest of the world and in this case Asia is important India is important because it was coming from that side only almost 20% of it this is how the entire thing has been put across or has been stacked up in in such a way that they find the better bargain nuclear issues issue is something it is the biggest bargaining chip for Iran 2015 JCO joint comprehensive plan was brought in because of that only understand that point the entire war which is now entering two months completed two months started with the main goal that US had aimed epic fury was launched so that US Iran doesn't acquire the capability to assemble the nuclear >> US has been very very clear isn't it Mayang that uh nuclear weapons cannot be had by Iran and they've been very very clear about that that the nuclear program of Iran must be halted completely do stay with us let's get the details of what Iran has actually proposed and whether the United States will actually agree to this or not. So what Iran has said, what is on offer is that the straight of foremost re reopening should happen first. They've spoken about the long-term implications of the same saying that currently the focus should be on opening the straight of Hormuz and the nuke talks can happen later. This is what Iran has said. But the question is is that acceptable to the United States or not? Because that has been the focal point of what the US has said right from the beginning. So why it matters is that it is a proposal that bypasses the very core nuclear uh dispute that has been going on something the US has been very very clear about but it is also aimed at fasttracking the US Iran deal because currently it is at a stalemate but this also breaks the longstal diplomacy because for a long time now there have no not been talks between the United States and Iran. So that question still remains on with this new proposal coming in from Iran, does that mean that the diplomatic talks will take place? Because according to reports during the Iran Russia talks, Iranian foreign minister had said that the truce talks in Islamabad failed due to the excessive demands of the United States.
In fact, he also took a jive at the Trump administration, going on to say that the US has achieved none of its goals in the war against Iran.
