Government contracts require proper oversight and competitive bidding to ensure taxpayer funds are used efficiently; when emergency exemptions are invoked without proper justification, projects can result in significant cost overruns, poor quality outcomes, and misuse of public funds intended for public benefit.

Trump SCRAMBLING To Save National Monument He Screwed Up, May Already Be Too Late追加:
It's night in the east wing of the White House and a 79year-old alleged dementia patient is staring out his window looking out at the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool, that long shimmering rectangle of water that's been a symbol of American democracy and reflection for almost a hundred years.
And that old man turns to whoever's in the room with him, presumably Steven Miller, who was probably cleansing his pallet with a diet coke or something after feasting on the blood of the innocent. And Trump says to him, "You know what? That needs blue. More blue." Donald Trump thought that our reflecting pool needed to be blue. And as we know, that came in April. Donald Trump declared that he personally handpicked a contractor to paint the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool and his color of choice for the low low price of $1.8 million. Donald Trump said that the work would last 50 years. And he had a guy, Donald Trump's exact line, I have a guy who's unbelievable at doing swimming pools. That's who I want working on our national memorials, your pool guy. So, we uh we went to work and uh over the years I built hundreds of pools. We then steam cleaned it. We then uh sand blasted it and then we pebble blasted. It's a a bigger version of sand. We we made the surface as good as it can be. And we're now covering it with the most beautiful blue, very thick. You think of it as a very sophisticated form of rubber, no leaks, no problems, and it's beautiful. It's called American flag blue. That was the color we chose.
And cut to this week. The contract for the pool is now $13.1 million. It's not double, not triple. It is more than seven times the original price. And the contractor is a Virginia firm called Atlantic Industrial Coatings whose specialty listed on their public website is waterproofing highway coverts, pipes, roofs, chemical storage tanks. But nowhere nowhere do they say they're Donald Trump's pool guy. They don't advertise pool work anywhere. They don't list a single swimming pool in their portfolio. They've never had a federal contract before in the entire history of their company.
and they got handed this no bid job with all competition closed out because the federal government invoked an emergency exemption. An exemption that's supposed to be used only when a delay would cause quote serious injury to the government. The injury here, according to the contracting documents, was that the reflecting pool wouldn't be blue enough for Donald Trump's liking by July 4th. And the internal documents that the New York Times got a hold of are even better than that. They're showing that the work that the company's doing now has bubbles in the waterproofing. It has small holes. And the tinted coating is so uneven that the pool currently looks like a a molted bruise. Not a reflective surface, not a mirror, just patchy. It looks a lot like Donald Trump's rotting hand flesh. Hundreds of pools. I built them every time I built the building. I always like to build Olympic size swimming pools.
And I was very aware of swimming pool. What goes into making a swimming pool? It's not as simple as people think. And the repairs, they were supposed to be done by May 22nd. Well, they've definitely missed that one. They quietly missed that deadline and added another $6.2 million to the contract on a Friday afternoon. And that balloons that price right now, the total so far to 13 million because that reflects the effort necessary to expedite the timeline. That's their corporate speak.
Essentially, these people promised a 50-year fix and instead we the people are getting a 7 to10 year coat of bathtub paint and we're paying an extra six million to try to make it look good.
And by the way, the park service is the agency in charge of the National Mall. The park service is what we, you and I, fund with our entrance fees when we pay to take our kids to Zion or Yellowstone or any of America's great parks, parks that I love dearly. And the documents that the New York Times got show that part of these $13 million going to the pool are coming directly out of your visitor fees. your fees, your $80 that you paid for that America the Beautiful pass, the one with Donald Trump's ugly ass mug on the front, the $35 you paid to get into the park into Yoseite. Part of that money is funding a private no bid contractor to spray bathtub paint poorly on the Lincoln Memorial Pool to celebrate the 250th birthday of our country. But Doug and I have a lot of fun doing it. Your staff is fantastic. They've really worked well. But the concepts, so think of it. Instead of spending two, three, $400 million and it will never work. We're going to spend like $10 million, maybe $12 million. Instead of spending four years, we're going to spend like, if you add it all up, like a couple of months, and instead of going through four Fourth of July is a horrible construction site, we're going to have it open before the 4th of July.
Doug Bergam, the Interior Secretary, the man that you would expect to be protecting public lands, has used your tax dollars and that extra $100 that they've tacked on the entrance fees of foreign tourists to ruin the National Mall while he slaps his boss's face on your annual park pass.
All this comes while they've erased MLK day from their free entry calendar and Junth from the free entry calendar and replaced it with flag day which conveniently doubles as Donald Trump's birthday. They are paving over a national landmark with the president's vanity with the president's color with the president's chosen contractor while shoving the president's face on the pass and the president's birthday on your calendar. This This is what the rest of the world means when they say that America is a joke. And for Americans, tell me in the comments which of Donald Trump's renovations are you most upset about? And for you guys that are from overseas, I want to hear from you guys about what you think of Donald Trump's vanity projects across our
