Polls open across Central Texas for runoff Election Day

[00:00:00]Now, it's the last chance for many voters to have their final say in key runoff races. That's right. Texas today reporter Brandon Cole is joining us live from the McLennan County Tax Office with all of the do's and the don'ts on how to vote today. Brandon, good morning.

[00:00:17]Hey, good morning Jasmine. The sun is starting to come up meaning it's almost time for these polls to open. 7:00 to be exact and it's going to be important for key races like Lindsey we're just talking about. Now, let's get into the do's and don'ts. So, here's what you need to know about when voting especially for this runoff. So, if you voted in the Republican primary, you can only vote in the Republican runoff. The same goes for the Democratic side.

[00:00:38]However, registered voters who sat out of the primary can participate in either runoff. Now, to vote today, first things first, bring that ID. So, here's a list of several types of IDs you can use. You got your Texas driver's license, personal identification card, handgun license, US passport, and the full list of acceptable IDs is available at kcentv.com.

[00:01:00]But, if you don't have any of those IDs, you can still vote because the state says all you need to do is fill out a reasonable impediment form explaining why you don't have a Texas ID. Now, if you do this, you'd also need to bring one of these supporting forms of ID showing your Texas address and name. So, here's that list for you. You got your current utility bill, copy of or original bank statement, government check, paycheck, and birth certificate.

[00:01:23]Now, here's what you should not do when you're voting today. Do not record any videos or photos or campaign against or for a candidate within 100 ft of the voting place. You can use a cell phone outside the room you're going to vote in, but again, do not record or bring out when filling out the actual ballot.

[00:01:40]And then, do not bring any firearms to the polling locations unless you're law enforcement on or off duty. The polls will close tonight at 7:00 and if you get in line beforehand, you will not be turned away. Live in Waco, Brandon Cole, KCENTV 6 News.
