Super Typhoon Sinlaku making landfall in the Tinian and Saipan, Westpacwx UpdateAdded:
Super Typhoon Sinaku is now making landfall here across the Mariana Islands. See the inner core of this storm system on radar. Uh that is where those super typhoon conditions are. It has wobbled a little bit just towards the south now of Tinian and Saipan.
Unfortunately putting you right in the right front quadrant of some of the worst that this storm has to offer. And it is this is the worst place on earth right now uh to be uh with any kind of weather. Meanwhile, just south of that, winds coming in from the north and west across Roa as well as over there towards Guam where most of the islands have no power at this uh time based on all the reports I've seen, especially to the northern Mariana Islands. Power is completely out. Everybody running on battery and generators at this point.
Hopefully everybody's staying inside, hunkered down because this storm system still a super typhoon, still at the upper edge of uh what these storm systems have to offer. This is actually a lookout of Cypan just a uh about 2 hours ago from recording this just prior to the coming out shore. So kind of the outer eyewall uh being seen right here.
And it just gives you an idea. But this is still half the power that uh the fullon brunt of the storm system has to offer. There is a little bit of a weakening though. And I think one of the main reasons for that is you can see here, look at the max velocity 155. It goes down to 150 and we start to see a little weakening here in that inner core of the storm as it nears the islands.
And one reason for that is look at the inner core. Look at this outer eyewall.
Now, even on the radar, you kind of see that as well. It's going through an eyewall replacement cycle. Now, this is probably the best case scenario for it to do that. Unfortunately, that does cause the windfield to expand, but it does cause some slight weakening and hopefully that kind of draws back some of the worst of the weather. But still that eye is straight on track to pass over Tinian where there are people here who are going to see that sudden lull in the strong winds. And one thing I do want to remind you if you're able to watch this right now and you're in any of these spots as much as possible and I know it's hard not to do try not to go outside because those winds can kick back around from the backside of the storm system real quick. and and I want to make sure everybody is staying safe with this because like I said, it's still uh still a serious storm system here. So, yeah, pressure has gone up a little bit, 910 HPA. That is a definite relative um compared to other storm systems is still on the top end of the scale. still have a little bit of dry air actually trying to work its way in the west side of it kind of eating away to be expected the further north it goes out here in latitude but uh yeah kicking off there and here's another look here on the satellite imagery caipan noted with this dot right there yeah you can kind of see a little bit of that dry air working its way on the west side but off towards the uh north still an inner core decent eye though and like I said I think there is going to be some people here that have the arena effect what we call it when you go outside and you see that whole dome around here and it probably is going to be on a tinion based on everything we're seeing right now. So where is this going? When is it going to get better? That's of course the number one question. Well, as this pulls off towards the north throughout the morning or out the night of Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, still full-on typhoon and strength here um for the northern Maron Islands. By Wednesday morning, though, Guam, you're going to start to see some improvement. Sun comes up there, it's going to be still windy, but definitely not a typhoon anymore.
It's not until about Wednesday afternoon in the evening for the northern Marriott Islands, Tinyan and Saipan, that you actually see conditions that are safe enough to head outside. Remember though, core 4, that is the the rule out here.
Try not to venture out until then. You have those local just rules that you got to follow. Make sure everybody's staying safe. Still looking at heavy more rainfall though. I mean, we're already seeing a washing machine pretty much.
It's the wind, it's the rain, but additional 2 to 300 millimeters still possible on the back side of the storm system through Wednesday morning there in the Guam. Power outages, flooding. Um thing is no more land impacts after this storm system. Maybe the Oasis Islands gets a little bit of impacts, but after this moves off towards the north, it gets picked up by this front. Um, not expecting it to impact Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, any of those areas just because it it's going to head out the sea. Could have a long-term influence on the west coast of the United States.
Kind of interesting. But for our friends in the Philippines, the high pressure ridge towards the west, it's going to keep you um safe there uh from this. But you still have some of those large waves that are going to be kicking up kind of in the long term cascading uh off here uh towards the west. But, uh, yeah, friends, um, I really I have to say, uh, big shout out to everybody who's been following this channel over the course of the last almost two weeks we've been monitoring this storm system. Thank you for watching, putting your trust into these videos. I I always say I'm not an official agency by any means. uh guy in a spare bedroom here. But I I do appreciate it and I try my best to relay the official information to all of you and try to put it out there in a more digestible way so you can prepare and uh stay safe. And I hope that's something we have done uh here at Westpak weather with this ongoing super typhoon out here in the Western Pacific. But it's not over yet. But we still have some more to go here as this continues to kick off uh towards the north and west. But one more look at the radar. Give you an idea of where we're at right now with this and that inner eye wall as it approaches uh Tinian and Zipan here. Um, feels silly to say if you want to hit that subscribe button, but if you do, you'll get more notifications once I put out some more updates, but make sure if you are out here on the national out here in the Mariana Islands, National Weather Service out of Guam is a follow you must do. Uh, as well as some of your local media, they really have been doing a good job keeping you posted. I've been following along um with a lot of them as well uh just on what's happening. some of them streaming continuously and those are the people you really do need to follow if you're out here in the Mariana Islands um being impacted by the storm.
Stay safe out there, okay friends, as always, thanks for watching. Bye.
