[00:01:05]Believe it or not, we try really hard, but it's like an instinct for us. We don't want to die, but our brains are constantly telling us to blow ourselves up.

[00:01:50]The vermached soldiers we were sent out with thought we were insane and perhaps they were correct. I remember some even attempted to convince us to try and stay alive, but it did no good. We were built for a purpose, and that purpose was at our core. I suppose fortunately, we actually weren't that great at our one job. We had a lot of explosives, but we weren't particularly quiet, and our control cable was cut pretty easily.

[00:02:13]Many of us were simply disabled without ever having the chance to kill ourselves. And then our Vermached friends were forced to abandon us, allowing us to be captured by the Allies. In my case, it was the Americans.

[00:02:25]I remember their confusion when they found me. See, in addition to my family's obsession with self- termination, we were also quite friendly. Most captured vehicle girls put up some kind of resistance, at least at first. But I was just happy to make new friends. I explained my purpose, and the soldiers took a liking to me. They thought I was funny. They also removed my explosives to make certain I would not be able to explode, but there was little risk of that to be honest. The charges were separate from us, controlled by an independent detonator.

[00:02:53]We couldn't activate them, even though we often wish to. Instead, I found myself offering entertainment to my former enemies, giving them rides, and then they sent me to their airfields to work with the plane girls on ground support. It was hard work, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed living and they made sure I was safe even after the war was over.

[00:03:15]I still have many sisters. We exchanged letters, ironically saved because we weren't effective weapons. But we were fun and we are all happy to be here still. Even if we occasionally run around with a grenade or landmine, life is a precious thing. It's funny. It is because of our instinct to throw it away that allows us to cherish it. Though I do not know what troubles you, Magna, but I, for one, am happy you are here.

[00:04:40]Everyone was fearful, running around unsure of what to do. The Soviets were approaching quickly, and they only ordered us to leave at the last possible moment. Magdi and I were together at first, but then she went off on her own.

[00:04:54]She wanted to make sure Jasper was getting to safety. Jasper Jasper Rudinger. He was a mechanic, not a soldier. He and my sister were close. He was nice to me, too. A very pleasant and polite man. But he definitely favored her. They were always talking, spending time together when we had a break. Were they involved? I admit I began to wonder that as time went on, but I never had the chance to ask. I watched Magdi run off to find Jasper, and then some of the soldiers approached me.

[00:05:28]They requested I turn into my vehicle form. Said that they had a real turret for me to use, but they needed to make some quick modifications while they still had time. Explained that they wanted me to be able to fire back at the Soviets should they catch up to us during our retreat. Seemed reasonable, so I complied. They brought a few boxes on board from behind me. I couldn't see what was in them. By the time I realized what they were actually doing, it was too late.

[00:05:57]It is not possible for me to describe the pain I felt as I was ripped apart from within. But it is not an experience I would wish on anyone. Somehow, despite the agony, I was still alive. They had not used enough explosives to kill me.

[00:06:14]Perhaps they were running low or were simply rushing. Either way, I lived and was furious. But I was still badly hurt and could not move.

[00:06:27]The next people I saw were the Soviets, who were more curious than hostile. They recognized I was badly hurt and knew I was no threat to them. I asked about my sister, explained that there were two of us and begged them to find her. They promised they'd tell me if they found anything, and to their credit, they did.

[00:06:48]They found her remains and her turret.

[00:06:51]Said it had been thrown off of her from an internal explosion.

[00:06:55]It didn't take a rocket scientist to deduce what had happened. At least based on all the information I had. They gave me the turret. I think at least the Soviet soldiers did so out of kindness.

[00:07:07]But their superiors had other ideas. I was tested and then effectively imprisoned. You know most of the rest of my story.

[00:07:17]But I had no clue she could have been alive. Rea all these years. Dietmar Bloomhart's journal mentioned a man named Rudinger.

[00:07:31]The journal mentions that this Rudinger man was constantly interrupting tests and worried about the subject's comfort.
