Columbus, OH evening forecast | First 90-degree day of the year ahead, Tuesday storms expectedAdded:
was definitely a toasty day for a run today. Props to all them for trooping through that, >> right? I mean, it was really warm out there. Even this morning, we had that humidity around. Uh there were actually some rain showers, a couple storms that cleared out just in time.
>> Well, you can see on the course there, a little damp, but didn't stop them.
>> Didn't stop them. So, all good things.
And we're looking good for the rest of the day. Uh looking good tomorrow. We got our first 90 coming our way.
>> So, get ready for that. But we're also tracking, Amy, the chance for some storms here looking ahead to Tuesday.
So, we have the 10 weather impact alert here going into Tuesday afternoon and evening as we are going to be watching for a few strong to severe thunderstorms. Now, not every storm that we have on Tuesday is going to be severe, but there will be showers and storms rolling through and a few of them could produce some damaging wind gusts over 60 mph and perhaps some hail. We're also going to be watching those as they go through the evening hours and then that is eventually going to clear out.
But it's also going to be ushering in some cooler air behind the showers and storms. But leading up to the chance here on Tuesday, we got some heat. 90, our first 90 of the year coming our way here tomorrow. Not quite record setting.
The current standing record in Columbus is 93, but still pretty close. 88 for a high on Tuesday. Most of the day leading up to about 4 pm going to fe feature some sunshine and warm temperatures.
Upper 80s. Keep in mind it's also going to be feeling a bit more humid to fuel the showers and storms that we have in the forecast. So it may actually feel like it's into the lower 90s. Then we get the showers and storms and then our temperatures drop. We're forecasting a high down to 70 here by Wednesday. A few more showers are in the forecast as we head through the week leading to at least uh some cooler weather here as we get into our Thursday. And then rain chances will start to pick back up looking ahead to the weekend. Not a lot, but we may see at least a few scattered showers here. Not going to be a wash out for the upcoming weekend thankfully. But we are tracking pretty quiet weather right now here on the radar picture.
Nothing across the central part of Ohio.
Really nothing across the state. Just a few scattered clouds. But as we shift to the west out across the Great Plains, there is a lot more active weather.
Severe weather impacting parts of Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, down to Kansas, and Colorado. That's where the severe weather threat is focused for today. Tomorrow, it starts to shift a little bit further to the east, but as we get into Tuesday, the storms really start to build in and lead to that potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms. So, as we go through tomorrow, we're tracking a lot of sunshine, a lot of uh toasty temperatures. There is a chance we could see a shower or storm coming in from the west. Most of that activity is going to fall apart as we go into Tuesday. Going to be tracking more sunshine, temperatures getting back into the upper 80s. And here we go. Some showers and thunderstorms starting to develop as we go through the evening. And these would be the ones that could produce those higher wind gusts and perhaps some hail.
Overall, those are going to be the two highest threats. Really damaging wind gusts. I think the hail threat may be a little lower and especially the tornado threat on the lower side. But we'll be watching all that as we look ahead to your Tuesday. At least for the next couple of days, upper 80s, near 90° is our forecast. Cooling down to the lower 70s on Wednesday. Some showers and maybe a rumble of thunder in the morning, but we get some sunshine by Thursday. upper 60s and then eventually back to the mid70s here right on into next
