DAY 13 of 31 · Our Lady of Nazareth

[00:00:02]Day 13 May the 13th Today we step off the pilgrim road for a moment. Because today we are not visiting a shrine built in memory of Mary.

[00:00:14]Today we are going to her home.

[00:00:19]Welcome to Nazareth in the hills of Galilee in the Holy Land.

[00:00:25]This is the town where Mary grew up.

[00:00:27]Where she drew water from the well.

[00:00:29]Where she learned to pray.

[00:00:32]Where she became who she was.

[00:00:35]And it is here in a small room in this hillside town [music] that the angel Gabriel appeared to a teenage girl and asked her the question that would change all of human history.

[00:00:48]Do not be afraid, [music] Mary.

[00:00:50]You have found favor with God.

[00:00:53]And she said yes.

[00:00:57]The Basilica of the Annunciation [music] stands here today. The largest church in the entire Middle East.

[00:01:03]But beneath it beneath all the marble and grandeur is the grotto.

[00:01:09]The cave room where Mary lived. Where the angel came.

[00:01:13]Where she said her yes. [music] Pilgrims from every nation on earth kneel here. Christians, Muslims all drawn to the place [music] where heaven touched earth.

[00:01:26]Around the upper church over 50 nations have donated mosaics and paintings of Our Lady. Each one in the face and dress of their own people.

[00:01:36]Chinese Mary African Mary [music] Japanese Mary Latin American Mary the mother of all peoples in every face.

[00:01:48]Today, May the 13th, the feast of Our Lady of Fatima let us return to the very beginning.

[00:01:56]Let us pray one decade of the Rosary for [music] peace in the Holy Land and for all who call this sacred ground home.

[00:02:05]Our Lady of Nazareth, pray for us.
