The Paige Niemann Documentary Is INSANE

[00:00:00]Some people may get compared to a celebrity and move on with their life when others take it so far that the celebrity themselves have to tell them to stop. One of those people being Paige Newman. Paige Newman released a six episode docue series titled Turning the Page. To save yourselves from watching the entire thing, I watched it for you and with 3 hours of my life that I will never get back. Welcome to my therapy session. Something in which I think some of these people in this series are in dire need of. For those who haven't heard of the name Paige Newman, Paige is rather a controversial figure. At 22 years old, Paige has amassed a following of, as they repeat several times in this documentary, over 11 million followers, primarily on the fact that she looks like Ariana Grande. Over the last few years, celebrity lookalikes have really exploded, especially with, you know, the rise of Tik Tok and social media with everyone, and I mean everyone getting compared to a celebrity that even just slightly looks anything like them. and Paige was no different. Now, where most people would see that comparison and, you know, maybe get a little bit inspired, but ultimately just move on with their life, some don't and find comfort in the fact that they could, instead of creating their own identity, use someone else's. And from the outside looking in, Paige looks like a girl who was leeching off of a celebrity's identity. So, to create her own identity, Paige and her team decided to make a dock series showing the real Paige. But in reality, as we will learn, this really just proved the opposite.

[00:01:25]Turning the page is a 6 episode documentary series that premiered on the 7th of July, 2026, documenting a few months in Paige's life. But what I quickly realized, and what you will, too, that this docue series is not very good at all. Uh, I'm sorry, but man, it was painful. Now, here's the thing. I'm going to be very careful with how I explain things and go across presenting Paige because if I've learned one thing, that is that this whole situation is a lot scarier than I initially thought.

[00:01:55]The premise of the series is essentially to follow Paige as she begins this rebrand into being herself, trying to leave behind the reputation she has gained online and show who she truly is.

[00:02:06]The marketing for this series and something that they will constantly repeat is that this is the real Paige.

[00:02:11]She's rebranding. She's changing. that she actually isn't a Ariana Grande lookalike or cosplayer. And to be honest, the show gives you the impression that she doesn't really like Ariana Grande altogether and that Ariana Grande is in fact her biggest bully. But I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. So before we get into all that, let's talk about the first episode. In the first episode, we are introduced to Paige talking about how she rose to fame and how she handles the hate that she receives online. Now, this goes on for a good 20 minutes. Mind you, the first episode is around 25 minutes without once mentioning the fact that she looks like Ariana Grande and that is pretty much the reason why she has this following. So, if you had no idea who Paige Newman was and you're watching this series, you would have no idea what's going on. The way Ariana Grande is kind of introduced or talked about in the show is the last few minutes of episode 1 when the drama starts with Paige sitting down with her grandma to have dinner when she gets sent a video.

[00:03:08]And the video is a clip of Ariana Grande doing a lie detector test talking about her impersonators. The clip goes like this. Ariana Grande gets asked, "Have you ever confronted anyone who has impersonated you?" In which Ariana replies that she hasn't, but she would like to in a fun way.

[00:03:24]>> Have you ever confronted anyone who's impersonated you?

[00:03:27]>> No.

[00:03:28]>> Have you ever wanted to?

[00:03:30]>> Yes.

[00:03:32]>> In a fun way?

[00:03:33]>> Yeah.

[00:03:33]>> Paige and the people around her instantly take this as her being bullied. I Well, I don't know if she's talking about me, but says yes, but in a fun way.

[00:03:45]>> You know, I know you're kind and sweet, but you can't let people pick on you.

[00:03:48]You have to stand up for yourself.

[00:03:50]>> I don't know how to explain it. I was so confused because how could they take this as her being bullied? So, the first episode ends with Paige in bed deciding to finally say something back where she posts a selfie to her Instagram with the text that reads, "Me when I get confronted in a fun way." This is then followed by a very dramatic montage of comments with AI voiceovers that are just so bad [laughter and gasps] they mispronounce every word. This is to prove all the hate that she has been receiving. Now I'm going to read you a few of these comments that they are putting across as being hate and you can tell me if you think it is someone hating on Paige or generally being concerned. You need to be yourself, not Ariana Grande. So this is not Ariana Grande. You don't look like yourself.

[00:04:35]You lost your personality and you're trying to find it, right? You're trying to look like her. Just live your own.

[00:04:39]Why does she pretend to be someone she's not like? Be yourself. We get it. You want to be Aryama.

[00:04:45]>> Get it. You want to be Ariana.

[00:04:47]>> Sorry. I mean Ariana. Now, to me, this just sounds like people being concerned.

[00:04:53]However, it wasn't just people being concerned, but Ariana Grande herself.

[00:04:56]page hits back to the claims Ariana Grande made of not confronting her impersonators, saying that Ariana did in fact reach out to her back in 2019 with a Instagram DM that read, "I am fluttered and I'm sure you're very sweet, but I just wanted you to know. I looked back a little way on your page and I think someone should tell you if they haven't today that you're beautiful as yourself without all the makeup and trying to make your face look more similar to someone else's and whatnot."

[00:05:21]I had to say it because it's the truth.

[00:05:22]Always do what makes you happy, of course, but if I didn't say that to you, I'd regret it. You're beautiful as you are. Take care. Paige responding to the DM. Thank you so much. I'm just having fun. It's for entertainment purposes only, and I'm glad you're not offended.

[00:05:34]I don't want you to think I'm not myself or that I don't love myself because I do, and at the end of the day, I am myself. I'm very happy with who I am and how I look. Thank you for being so kind to me. It means so much to me. You have inspired me so much and I will always support you. Much love. Ari then replied, "Good. Proud of you. Have all the fun. If you're coming to any of the sweetness shows, let me know. We'll grab a hug. Paige then goes on to say that the next day, Ariana was replying to gifts and commenting on posts of her, sending the message across that Ariana was making fun of her and that a lot of the hate that she has been receiving has been because of these replies that Ariana Grande has made on these posts.

[00:06:10]Now, despite all this, Paige insists that she is not an impersonator or a cosplayer, but just looks like Ariana Grande naturally. However, this is then contradicted a few moments later when her grandma says that she should be flattered that someone wants to look like her.

[00:06:24]>> And I think that she should be flattered that someone wants to look like her.

[00:06:29]>> So is then kind of insinuating that Paige does in fact want to look like Ariana Grande. And this can kind of be backed up with how most of Paige's videos and photos are that of doing cosplay or looking like Ariana Grande.

[00:06:45]Also, to prove that she hasn't had any work done to her face, Paige then goes to a plastic surgeon who then confirms that she purely just has fillers.

[00:06:53]However, the cracks really do show and we do see how broken of a person that Paige truly is. I have to admit, I do feel bad with how lost this girl is. Cuz when you really think about it, she has spent the last seven years of her life living as Ariana, having a career and all that attention because she looks like Ariana Grande. Seeing comments like be yourself as hate insinuates the fact that she believes that she is genuinely being herself because over the course of the series without realizing it after so many years of studying Ariana feeling as though that's what she must do not only her makeup hair outfits are the same but also her voice her facial expressions.

[00:07:32]So, the premise of the series being to show who Paige truly is doesn't work because she doesn't know who she is, which in itself is very, very sad because Paige probably wouldn't know what it feels like if someone copied someone else's identity or looks or style because she doesn't exactly have her own identity. The people who she surrounds herself with do seem very kind and that they want to help, but ultimately don't. they are helping her feed this thought of, you know, everyone's hating me and and encourage her to be, you know, rebellious, to fight back instead of actually sitting down and being like, no, I think people are just concerned like maybe we should cut your hair, dye your hair, maybe we should do something that pick up a hobby, something to help her kind of create her own identity to try and break her out of that pattern that she has been in for, you know, seven years of her life. Give her an appearance that makes her different from looking like Ariana Grande. And I'm not saying that she doesn't naturally look a little bit like Ariana Grande because, you know, it's obvious that she kind of does.

[00:08:32]That's why she has a career. But she doesn't look exactly like Ariana Grande.

[00:08:36]It's only the way she wears her hair, the way she does her makeup, the color of her hair, the the style of her clothes. She's finding inspiration in Ariana Grande's look, but there comes a point where it's inspiration, and then it's just copying. because by showing clips of her singing as a kid and as she strives for the limelight, unironically pushing things that Ariana would do, which makes it worse. Despite not really much happening in the show, there are a few main points that I do want to talk about. While she is with her boyfriend, Paige's Instagram and Tik Tok both get banned. What you quickly realize is that these moments are purely dramatic reenactments of what actually happened.

[00:09:11]Um um do you think we could stop filming for a second? [music] Do you guys think you [music] >> Paige stops everyone from recording? She calls her manager and then we learn that the reason that her accounts got banned is because it was a targeted attack from another agency, another management agency that she didn't want to sign to.

[00:09:44]So then they would send her threats saying things like, "If you have to be chased, then you'll be erased." Her accounts get put back up. However, this wouldn't be the last time that Paige would get banned. Leading us to the Rolling Stone article. Paige lands a Rolling Stone article UK titled Paige Newman beyond the look >> and the rebirth of who you are. Paige Newman on Rolling Stone magazine.

[00:10:07][screaming] >> OH MY GOD, THAT'S CRAZY.

[00:10:10]>> For this article, she meets with a stylist to help reinvent her and give her a new look. As this article is meant to be Paige like you've never seen her.

[00:10:19]However, Paige then doesn't really like the stylist, so she decides to style herself. And then the article is released, but not for long as it gets taken down, but not much is kind of explained why it got taken down, but then it's now quickly up again. The article goes over her virality, battle to keep her platforms, identity, and her new transformation. When talking about her virality, Paige says, "There's a difference between fame and having a huge following. A lot of people see me as something I'm not. I want to have fame for who I am, not for who people think I am. I want to build a legacy, not for what I look like, but for what I've done, starting now." often talking about having to have thick skin, dealing with all the hate going into the time her accounts got banned, expressing that she had felt like she had lost everything and that it fueled her ambition. With her new chapter being modeling, I want to do more. I want to prove I'm capable of more than just what I look like. I plan to be me, to show the world who I am. Everyone has their turn to walk this world in their own way. Now it's my turn. What sets me apart? There's no other Paige Newman.

[00:11:18]Reiterating the fact that she wants to build a legacy for herself. One of those ways being this reality show. This article is more promises than action.

[00:11:26]Very similar to the series where it's saying that she's wanting to do all these things, but not actually giving us who she is as a person. Just kind of saying, "I want people to see who I am instead of actually showing who she is."

[00:11:36]Back to the series. To celebrate the Rolling Stone article, her manager organizes a celebration party web page signs autographs, takes photos, despite the fact that I don't think she really knew any of these people here. This is then followed by Paige going to a movie premiere for the movie Companion, which I'm sure you've seen the photos for because they have kind of been over social media the last few years.

[00:11:58]Something that we follow along with throughout this series is Paige as she does modeling class and then walks on the runway. But the one thing that I think is important to talk about is the family dynamic. In the series, we introduced to her grandma who she pretty much takes everywhere and I think she also lives with her boyfriend, mom, and dad. The last two episodes revolve heavily around her relationship with her father, who she hasn't seen for 3 years.

[00:12:23]Everyone in the series is pretty awkward because I expect they haven't really been around cameras and they're kind of filming their own lives, so it's I would imagine that's just very weird. But the dramas the producers try and get it just ends up being very uncomfortable and I felt like I was intruding or something.

[00:12:38]They get Paige to text both her mom and dad, inviting them to dinner with the two not knowing that either one would be there, leading to a very awkward meal and a conversation about their divorce and why they got divorced, which led Paige to start crying. And I really just think at that point they probably should have just turned the cameras off. I have to admit, I did watch some of the series in two times speed, especially those really awkward parts because I wouldn't have got through it. I wouldn't have got through it. I was done after the first episode, man. I wouldn't have got through it. We learned that due to him having a drinking problem, they don't have the best relationship and that she understandably wishes that he would stop so they could have a better relationship and that it would just be better for him to stop drinking. And the show is about to end. Okay, we've gone through all the family stuff. We've gone through all the other stuff and a whole lot of random stuff that really just filled the episodes out and it was kind of just them eating food or talking about random stuff. We are hit with a dramatic black screen. While she was filming the confessional, Paige runs off crying as her dad calls her saying that he is leaving and doesn't want to say bye to her. So, production decide to take Paige to her dad to say bye. And this is where she confronts him and something that I think she needed to do, but whether it should have been recorded again, I don't know. There's a there's a whole lot of stuff that she definitely needs to figure out with her family and um I don't think that should be on TV. They take him to the airport and that is where where the series ends. So, let me give you my overall conclusion. This documentary didn't do what it was set out to do. I have to say, unfortunately, I don't want to be mean, okay? I don't want to be mean. This was like the most painful thing that I've ever had to watch. It truly nothing happens apart from eating meals, talking to her nan, talking to her friend, playing tennis, going to a arcade. Nothing happened. The only other interesting parts or the parts that actually gave us any information were what I've covered. The editing alone ain't it. Okay. There was glitches all over the place. Things would just happen. There would be random montage after another thing and it would be like what's going on? The AI voiceovers that sent me down a spiral. I was like, why are you using AI to do a voice over? And they were all pronouncing everything wrong. Oh man, it wasn't um I don't recommend watching it. I put it in two times speed cuz I watched it twice as fast. And if you're watching two times speed, it's still like, oh, come on. It still drags unfortunately.

[00:15:04]Okay, now I don't want to sound like I'm defending Paige because like she has done some sketchy stuff like the Only Fans where she did Ariana Grande cosplay, but I do also think that there was a certain time, especially when she was around 15. She was in loads of videos about fake Ariana Grande and all these things. And as a 15year-old, I expect that really drilled it into her brain that like people only cared about her if she looked like Ariana Grande.

[00:15:30]And the fact that she's saying now that she isn't an impersonator or a cosplayer, majority of her content is that despite Ariana Grande saying politely asking her to, you know, maybe stop and be yourself. Just after watching the documentary, I went to her Instagram to find out that she has now dyed her hair brown after Ariana Grande dyed her hair brown. It just doesn't look as though she is trying to be herself. And what I think is truly sad is the fact that if Paige was herself, stop trying to look as much like Ariana Grande as she could, people would appreciate her and support her a lot more, which has been seen in the past when she has done cosplay of a character. And the comments are so positive. They're like, you know, yay, this is what we want to see. And maybe one day she'll get there. But enough with the documentaries. Okay. When my first reaction to seeing a documentary was made, I was kind of like, why? Like I didn't know what it was going to be about. And when they started to build up this thing of like, okay, she's changing. I was like, oh, this is going to be interesting. Maybe this is worth it. Only to realize that it was just a whole lot of nothing and it really didn't prove much. Paige doesn't need a reality show. She needs someone to help her find herself, get a hobby, maybe turn off the phone. Turn off the phone.
