[00:04:34][clears throat] So, yeah, we've been busy. I'm sure y'all have been, too. But, wow, this weekend was rough. I got so hot. I got dehydrated. I went to bed Saturday at >> spilled my tea.

[00:04:52]>> He nearly had a heat stroke.

[00:04:55]>> Woke up at 5. Let's see. Woke up at 8:30, took a shower, and went to church.

[00:05:01][laughter] >> I looked out the window. Well, tell them what you were doing all day. I was cutting trees with chainsaw on, you know, 35 foot boom lift.

[00:05:15]>> We rented a called a cherry picker, isn't it?

[00:05:18]>> You call it a lull cherry cherry picker.

[00:05:20]A boom lift.

[00:05:22]>> Just a lift thing like the power people use.

[00:05:26]>> Yeah, I should have >> I should have rented the one you drove around, but this one you had on your hitch and had outriggers, but um it was all electric. It was pretty good, but it was just a lot more work setting it up to get the cut.

[00:05:43]>> We had a couple of trees that we had to get down that was kind of dangerous to cut down trees >> over in the area where we're going to put our new shop. And then he just went around the property and limbmed up >> so we could see the creek better, get better views. Some of the lot of rotten limbs >> out on the farm. And um over at my parents house, we had some limbs I needed to cut. Then I cut some over so they could see off their porch into the goat pastures and sheep. And uh >> made it look a lot better.

[00:06:17]>> It was hard clean up.

[00:06:18]>> I think I came I finished cleaning it up. I came home after church Sunday and finished some more cutting and then I cleaned up with a tractor. But it looks good.

[00:06:32]>> Yep. It looks nice. Nice. Nice.

[00:06:36]Um, >> and I had a few battles with some limbs.

[00:06:42]>> And then I got But that was when I was on the ground. Dad come out there helping me pulling limbs and we both I think took a tumble in the in the debris. I told him not to walk out there, but he was walking in this in the brambles.

[00:06:56]>> Chase, our son, came and helped all day Saturday.

[00:07:00]>> Which was good. Really good. And then at I don't know it's towards the end of the day I had come in the kitchen and was cooking us something to eat. Looked out the window and Jean was just like hanging over the bucket [laughter] and I thought, "Oh my god, >> my battery my battery depleted. I was gone."

[00:07:23]>> It wasn't but just a few minutes after that and they were coming in and then it wasn't a few minutes after that and he was in the bed. That's hard hard work.

[00:07:42]>> But I tell you, anytime you work outside in the heat and you get dehydrated, that's no fun because I mean, you pay for it for several days.

[00:07:56]>> Um, so, uh, someone asked what tea we're drinking. Mine is a walk in the garden and it has roselle hibiscus, blue butterfly pea petals, rose petals, peppermint, red raspberry leaf, chenula, lemon balm, lemongrass, elderflower, lavender buds, and dehydrated orange. It is a beautiful tea blend. It's so pretty.

[00:08:25]>> I'm watching the heat and there wasn't anything on me dry. My pants were soaking wet. I think I had couple inches inside my boots wet and my shirt. But I found out when I get wet like that, I can't breathe. My skin can't breathe. So I I changed shirts what, twice?

[00:08:45]>> And I brought you like four different liquid IVs. [laughter] I was trying to keep him hydrated, but he just sweats so much he can't stay hydrated. Jean's drinking golden hour, which this is both of this is our favorite.

[00:09:02]Rosel, rose hips, lemongrass, cinnamon chips, and orange. And it's so good.

[00:10:51]Becky says, "If I don't have a greenhouse and want to start collarded seeds, where is the best place to put them?" Um, well, they're going to need some heat to germinate. And then once the little seedling starts coming up, they're going to need some sunlight. But you don't want to put it in direct hot sunlight all day long because um [clears throat] I I don't know. I just don't think they're going to do that great just like sitting outside in super hot direct sun all day long because they are a cooler season vegetable. But um just remember heat to get it to germinate and sunlight to keep it from getting leggy and stretching and to for your little seedling to grow.

[00:13:14]>> All right. Allison said she starts her fall seeds outside in a part shade spot on her property. The greenhouse is just too hot. I agree, Allison. The greenhouse is too hot. But let me tell you, my new greenhouse that I got, the little seed starting greenhouse, we got the one that has like some uh like it's not clear panels on the top.

[00:13:37]It's it's got like >> regular >> half and half >> panels on the top. And it actually creates a little bit of shade in there.

[00:13:47]Some shade.

[00:13:48]>> So, as the sun moves, it it's it's getting sun, lots of sun.

[00:13:51]>> And we got the exhaust fans in there.

[00:13:54]And >> got some solar solar fans on the end and on the front. So, it's got a draft coming through.

[00:14:00]>> And y'all, it uh it really don't get that hot in there. No, it really really don't. It's it's crazy. But like I leave the door open, I leave the windows open.

[00:14:12]There's good air circulation and it's really not that hot and my seedlings are actually doing pretty good in there which is unusual because this time of year it is hard to this is the time of year to start your cool season vegetables from seed but the greenhouse usually is a little bit too hot to be doing that but um mine's doing okay.

[00:14:38]Okay, let's see. Kelly said, "You got the hoop house."

[00:14:43]Guess what, y'all? I got a phone call today from Caitlyn at NRCS and they she reubmitted my application. She had called me like two weeks ago or three weeks ago and said that >> there was some money calls and calls.

[00:15:03][clears throat] No one was awarded a greenhouse this year. No one was. It all went to cattle farmers and a and other agriculture departments. So, nobody was awarded a greenhouse. And because of that, they decided to resubmit some of the applications and award a few people the green houses. Well, I already had in my mind it was rode off. Like, we're not doing that this year.

[00:15:32]>> We're not getting that this year. Jean was happy that we weren't doing that this year. And um anyway, she called me today and she said, "You were awarded the grant for the greenhouse. You have been pre-approved for the grant for the greenhouse, y'all.

[00:15:51]For the hoop house." So, we've been preapproved. We still got paperwork. She's working on it right now. She said about two weeks. Then that paperwork has to go to to people who have to approve it. And then she's going to meet with us and go over all the rules and the regulations and all the details. And as long as we agree to everything, then we'll sign the contract. And she said within a month, we should have we should be able to purchase the greenhouse, get it here within a month. And then in three more weeks, >> our shop building will be here. And then that is a whole major project to complete the interior of that and all that comes with that. And see, we didn't know we were like the greenhouse was completely out of mind. I thought it was we weren't getting it this The rule we've had was we're not starting any project till we finish the freaking one we got on the plate.

[00:17:07]>> I'm getting a bass boat. I'm getting some pigs.

[00:17:20]>> So exciting. big major steps towards our business and our goal. This has been a goal from the beginning and the plan and the vision.

[00:17:33]And don't look so sad. You don't have to build it.

[00:17:40]We're going to hire somebody to build the greenhouse.

[00:17:44]>> Yeah, that's too much. I do the water and the power, but I'm not a >> So, I told Jean and then I immediately called Catherine. She was number two because Katherine is the one that told me about the grant. Katherine is the one that encouraged me to go for the grant.

[00:18:04]>> Katherine re won the grant last year and built a big, beautiful, huge hoop house.

[00:18:12]She has mastered it all. she knows all the details. So, I called her and told her and um asked her 14,000 questions.

[00:18:25]And the gist of it is is we're just going to copy Katherine. [laughter] >> We're just going to copy everything Catherine did. We've seen it. We're copying everything Catherine did because it's perfect, y'all. It is perfect.

[00:18:42]Like, she figured it all out. What are we going to do on her own?

[00:18:45]>> What are we going to do with these plants?

[00:18:47]>> And she she figured it all out on her own and it is perfect.

[00:18:52]>> What's the ROI? What are we going to do with these plants?

[00:18:54]>> Everything's the ROI with Jean, which is good. But um anyway, so we're just going to copy Catherine. We're going to get the exact same greenhouse except I don't know if I'm going to be able to get that big because I don't know if our spot's going to hold that.

[00:19:30]>> So, all the all the growing and harvesting that is 2,160 square feet, which is >> about 100 square feet of our house. So, it's massive.

[00:21:33]>> So, we got the greenhouse, a massive greenhouse, and we've got the shop all right around the all going to be at the same time probably. It's all going to be arriving about the same time. Insane.

[00:21:56]Oh my gosh. Anyway, so the green what the plan is for the greenhouse is to grow citrus trees in it.

[00:22:05]>> Um I have some citrus trees right now in pots and we have to move them into one of my green houses during the winter time and they're outgrowing the pots. In fact, they're suffering a little bit because they're not they need to be either repotted or planted. So, y'all know I worked at Petals from the Past and Dr. Powell built an orangeery, a citrus house is what we called it. And it's a big hoop house just like the one I'm going to get just about. And um it's in inground planted citrus trees inside the hoop house. So, it's very very cool.

[00:22:50]What's great about it is we're going to be able to go out there and get bananas year round >> fruit and nothing sprayed on it to give us green purple freckles on our face or liver damage or >> Yeah.

[00:23:03]>> No chemicals.

[00:23:05]>> It's going to be awesome. Plus, we can grow tomatoes year round.

[00:23:08]>> Yeah. Vegetables.

[00:23:09]>> I mean, there's so much we're going to be our grocery store.

[00:23:13]>> Open up the door. So many opportunities.

[00:23:16]>> Yeah. The primary point and use of the greenhouse will be or or the hoop house will be the citrus trees >> because I use a lot of citrus in in these teas. I dehydrate oranges and lemons and um limes for the teas. So that's going to be >> a lot of herb production in there.

[00:23:39]>> Yeah. and a lot of herbs. I'll be able this can completely catapult the herb production.

[00:23:48]So, I am super excited. But we're also going to grow some vegetables in there.

[00:23:53]>> We're not going to be growing in that crazy herb now.

[00:23:56]>> No, we're not growing [laughter] that.

[00:23:58]Um anyway, that's the plan for the greenhouse.

[00:24:52]>> Uh, herb product business, which is what the shop's about. So, it all it all connects together and it's just a matter of um the energy.

[00:40:22]I have bad luck with chainsaws. And that I jumped in Tracy's truck, flew down to the hardware store, and they had the one I wanted. They didn't have in stock. So I said, "Can I have the one on display?"

[00:40:37]They said, "No, cuz it was made really well." So, I got another one. Anyway, it about broke my arm. It's so heavy. But that thing was outrageous. Just just extra chains on it was 40 bucks plus tax for one. That was a very unexpected cause >> because these trees, some of these trees are really old and they they used it for bob wire and when you go to cut the stump, you get all >> you get all up in bob wire and it just eats your chain up. But that's the only way you can cut the trees down.

And I said, "If there's a" He said, "There's a little crack in the in the lines somewhere." I said, "Well, if there's a crack in the lines, I don't want just a stop leak put in it." I said, "If it's a crack, I want a new unit." He said, "Well, we'll do it. We'll put the die in it and check it out tomorrow morning." So, my gracious.

[00:51:47]And when you use the glue and stuff over time that p the PVC those joints can come apart and that glue if you put it too thick it can it can actually eat that PVC and it's down in the ground and it starts leaking. With PEX it'll it'll take a freeze. It it's amazing. And I can have it running and just put a PEX clamp on it and it it's sealed. I love it.

Like, we're going to put down the weed fabric, the um everything that we can do to make this easy maintenance is how we're going.

[00:55:29]>> Mhm. And our bees, we can leave the door open. The bees can go in there and pollinate.

[00:55:34]>> Oh, it'll be it's close to the beehives, too. So, it's not good.

[00:55:38]>> Hey, I'm going to tell you what. When we first got the um or when they first got the orery at Petals, the we had some beehives out there and those bees went to that orangey when they were in bloom. All the citrus trees were in bloom. And if y'all never smelled citrus blooms, it is so fragrant. So >> smells them. She lives in Florida.

[00:56:07]>> Yeah. So the bees went in and pollinated the orery and the honey that we got from those bees had a citrus flavor to the honey and it was I've never had honey that good.

[00:56:25]>> Yeah, dragon fruit.

[00:56:26]>> Our honey's the best. But that honey was so unique.

[00:56:32]>> It was so good. And it it was a citrus flavored honey.

[00:56:36]>> I remember one year I remember one year our some of our honey tasted real citrusy.

[00:56:42]>> Anyway, I'm excited about it.

[00:56:45]You're making me h honey hungry.
