[00:00:30]The consulate is upgrading from a small shack on the outskirts of town to a much bigger building in the city center, a move agreed upon under Joe Biden in 2023.

[00:00:42]On his first visit since his appointment as special envoy in December, Jeff Landry described an uphill battle making friends. One of the things that I think is the disappointing part is that every time I mention someone who wants to be my friend, um other people out there go in and basically, um they torment them.

[00:01:03]No Danish or local government representatives attended the opening, unlike when France and Canada opened new consulates earlier this year.

[00:01:12]In January, Trump mulled taking Greenland by force, saying it was strategically vital. But since then, diplomacy has taken precedent. In talks with Landry, Greenland's Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen said he insisted on Greenland's sovereignty.
