This American helmet was found by a young French girl on September 1st, 1944 north of Paris in a village liberated by the Second Armored Division. A triangle has been scraped out of the paint on the left side of the helmet where the soldier had apparently glued on the insignia of the Second Armored Division.
A so-called laundry number or partial serial number is painted inside the helmet. But despite intensive research, it has not been possible to discover the original owner's full identity.
