This is a textbook case of the credentialed elite stating the obvious with an air of intellectual superiority. It frames settled constitutional law as a dramatic discovery to satisfy a partisan audience's need for moral validation.

The one where Trump hands Blanche a Post-It note…Added:
Hey everybody, Todd Blanch has once again demonstrated that he is the best trained seal in Donald Trump's circus.
He claps on Q every single time. Here's the latest. I'm Liz Oyer, the former pardon attorney for the Department of Justice. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Trump had a meltdown over all the negative press coverage of his war with Iran. Trump was especially triggered by reports that he ignored all of the advice of everyone around him, including his senior staff and military generals. They told him it was a bad idea to start this war, but he did it anyway. Now, the war has blown up in his face, and Trump has no one to blame but himself. So, he's angry. And that's where Todd Blanch comes in. According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump collected a stack of news articles that made him upset. And during a meeting at the White House, he handed the stack to Todd Blanch, his acting attorney general. He put a sticky note on top. On the sticky note was one word, treason. Trump knew Blanch would understand exactly what he meant by that. Find out who's behind the stories and prosecute them for treason.
And like a well-trained pet, Blanch needed only a one-word command. Blanch got right to work. According to the journal, he launched an aggressive push to investigate leaks to the press. He vowed to secure subpoenas targeting journalists who report on national security issues. It is extremely unusual for DOJ to subpoena journalists because of something called the First Amendment, which protects the free press. You might think Blanch would know about it since he apparently carries a copy of the Constitution in his pocket. Or is that just a prop? Anyway, it's still not clear how many media outlets have been subpoenaed. The Wall Street Journal reported that it has received a subpoena, which it plans to challenge in court. A court challenge is definitely warranted because these subpoenas have nothing to do with the law. They are all about the president's ego. As much as Trump wishes it were otherwise, it is still not a crime in this country to embarrass the president by reporting facts. No one is going to be convicted of treason here, no matter how hard Todd Blanch claps.
