Trump still deciding on U.S.-Iran ceasefire extension dealHinzugefügt:
President Trump's still deciding on a deal that would extend a ceasefire between the US and Iran for another 60 days and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. A temporary ceasefire has been in place for more than 7 weeks. CBS News correspondent Wendy Gillette has the details.
>> For another weekend, ships remain stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. An agreement that would include reopening the crucial waterway remains under consideration as President Trump weighs moving forward. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was asked about a potential deal after an event in Singapore.
>> President's patient. He's only going to get a great deal and I know we'll get a great deal. That's not any deal, that's a great deal.
>> The agreement would also extend a ceasefire between the US and Iran for another 60 days while talks continue about Iran's nuclear program. President Trump met with his national security advisers Friday with nothing decided. A White House official issued a statement that says, "Quote, the situation room meeting has concluded and lasted approximately 2 hours. President Trump will only make a deal that is good for America and satisfies his red lines. So, Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon." The president spoke to Fox News about the ongoing talks.
>> And I'm playing it out and we're going to see and that's what I do. I negotiate, they negotiate, they're very good negotiators, they're crafty.
>> Supply chain experts say the effects of the shutdown on products around the world other than oil are growing.
>> We're now seeing trickling down to the grocery stores, the food, primarily food.
>> Iranian officials say no deal has been reached yet and that management of the Strait of Hormuz needs to be decided by Iran and Oman. Wendy Gillette, CBS News.
