[00:00:05]Everything starts with the sun.

[00:00:07]When sunlight falls on the water on Earth, the heat from the sun causes the water to warm up.

[00:00:14]As the water gets heated, it changes into water vapor.

[00:00:18]This process where water changes into gas is called evaporation.

[00:00:24]Gases are lighter than liquids, so the water vapor rises into the sky.

[00:00:29]As we go higher from the surface of the Earth, the atmosphere becomes colder and colder.

[00:00:36]There are also some very important things present in the atmosphere.

[00:00:39]Tiny dust particles, smoke, salt, and pollen.

[00:00:44]These are called condensation nuclei.

[00:00:48]When the water vapor that rises upward cools down, it needs these tiny particles to attach to.

[00:00:54]The water vapor gathers around these particles and because of the cold temperature, changes back into tiny droplets of water.

[00:01:02]This process where water vapor changes into liquid is called condensation.

[00:01:09]It is the opposite process of evaporation. These tiny water droplets are so small that we cannot see them with our eyes.

[00:01:18]When millions of these droplets collide and come together, they form a cluster of water droplets.

[00:01:23]What we then see is a cloud.

[00:01:26]Inside the clouds, these water droplets constantly collide with each other, becoming larger and heavier. Finally, when they become too heavy to stay suspended in the air, they fall down to the Earth. This is rain.

[00:01:45]If the temperature in the atmosphere is warm, these droplets remain in liquid form and fall as rain.

[00:01:52]But if the atmosphere is very cold, that is below freezing temperature, the water droplets inside the clouds change into ice crystals.

[00:02:01]These ice crystals slowly join together and grow into beautiful shapes called snowflakes.

[00:02:08]When they become heavy enough, they fall to the earth as snow instead of rain.

[00:02:14]Each snowflake is made up of many tiny ice crystals joined together.

[00:02:18]When this water or snow reaches the earth and the sun heats it again, the entire process repeats continuously.

[00:02:26]This endless journey of water is called the water cycle.

[00:02:30]The water cycle continuously moves water between the earth and the atmosphere, helping plants, animals, and humans survive.
