The video presents a philosophical perspective that while we cannot add years to our lives, we can fill our days with love and light; the value of life comes from the moments we create rather than the time we count, and we should appreciate both good and bad experiences while enjoying each day without rushing.

Added:Okay, brunch today. We're going to have a bagel with two tablespoons of garden fresh cream cheese, a banana, an ounce of cheese, and a cup of tea. We're going to sit out here and read until it starts to rain.
Breakfast for today.
Well, good afternoon. Today is Tuesday, June 9th, and we have some birthdays today. Today is my buddy Edie over at Ed's Adventures. Today's Ed's birthday.
So, Edie, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Edie. Happy birthday to you. Cha.
It's also Nope. Steve Lope. No, that's yesterday.
Reading the wrong. And it's Kelly's birthday. I know. I had to write them down. I had yesterday's on here on the back side, but it's also Kelly's birthday. So, Kelly, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Kelly. Happy birthday to you. Cha cha. Well, I hope you both have a great great birthday today. And we have one anniversary because today is Stephanie and Dale Hakula's 35th.
Is it 35? Were they born 35 or 36?
I think they were married in 1995. That would make it 36 years, right? No, 26.
31. I got to check.
1991. So that I was right. It was 35 years. I was all confused. Dale and Stephanie, happy anniversary. Happy anniversary.
Happy anniversary.
Happy anniversary. Happy happy happy happy anniversary. Happy happy happy happy anniversary. Well, I hope you have a great great anniversary. Um, I'm sitting outside. I just finished my brunch. I didn't know what to have today to eat. It was kind of weird. I didn't know I was hungry, but I wasn't hungry.
And I don't really have much in the house to eat that's healthy. I mean, I have I have I don't have a lot of unhealthy stuff. I'm I shouldn't say it that way. I I don't have any more eggs.
My eggs are gone. Um in more ways than one [laughter] anyway. Um I my I don't have any eggs.
I just had that last piece of cheese that I had for my brunch. I took the the bagel out of the freezer.
I don't have any strawberries. I don't have any raspberries. I ate the last banana.
So, I was just and I didn't feel like a bowl of cereal.
Later on today, I'm going to have the the other half of the cucumber that I had yesterday and the rest of the little broccoli and the rest of the celery.
I'll have that as my lunch or snack or whatever. I'm not going to show you that because I'll have closed the video by then. But, and then for dinner, I took out some um chicken out of the freezer.
I'm cuz Jim shoots on his league tonight. So, I'm going to bake a piece of chicken and have a baked potato with it. And then I have um some sort of vegetable that's in the freezer that I'll take out. I don't know. Probably some green beans.
So, that'll be my dinner tonight. Um trying to think what's going on. It's supposed to rain all day today. It was supposed to start at 11:00. It's a little after 1 now. It was sprinkling a little bit earlier, but I didn't get wet cuz I'm under the canopy here. And so, uh I'm going to sit outside and read.
I'm almost done with my book, The Stranger. It's very good. I really I forgot how much I enjoy Harlon Cobin.
Um, I did order the beginning of the series of the Myron Bolmer series, but I'm still waiting for the library to get those three together. Jim's out in front powering the front of the house. Um, we hired somebody to do the side two sides of the house because um I have a a ranch style house, but the top it goes up high, you know, with the attic and everything. So, um it was just easier to hire somebody to do that. The the parts that Jim's doing, he can do like they're at his level, you know, they're not really high. So, he's power washing the rest. We have um vinyl siding on the house is brick and vinyl siding. It's a little bit of combination of both. So, he's just cleaning all that up before the rain comes down too hard. We're supposed to get storms tomorrow. So, I don't know that I'll be outside tomorrow at all.
I'm hoping. But actually, I came out here to warm up a little bit because Jim's got the air conditioning on. I turned it up. When I got up, he hit it at 65. [laughter] It's like, oh my gosh.
I turned it up to 74, which is still too I mean, that'll probably be too hot, but I mean it the house is is going to take a while to get up to 74. Then I'll just turn it down to a more reasonable 72 to me is fine. I know that when I was younger, 65 would have been perfect. But when my mother lived with me, she had her hot flashes so bad. We had the house, we had to wear winter clothes. My mother would just be in a sleeveless shirt, like in short shorts cuz she was so hot all the time.
Thankfully, I never had that. I had a couple hot flashes, but not that many.
Not not not enough that I had to worry about them. It was just uh you know, they came and went. I have enough other issues with my life that hot flashes are not it. You know, I have my anxiety and I have my panic attacks which are with me to this day. Whatever. My kids got me this shirt. Whatever. I didn't realize I said it so much. I don't think I say it as much now. I know at one point in my life I said it a lot. Whatever.
So, trying to think what's going on.
Wasn't much on TV last night. I watched um what did I watch?
Oh, the the com the John Stewart the Daily Show. I watched that and then I watched Jimmy Kimmel. I love Tom Hanks.
He was the guest. And then they did a uh a bit where he was replaying Toy Story where everybody in the audience was supposed to be like a toy and they were supposed to be like and then they all had to flop and they all did a really good job of doing that. It was really It was fun to watch. And then I read my book and then I went to bed. I slept really well last night. Jim slept in. He slept long. He actually woke up just a couple minutes before me, which is unusual cuz Jim usually wakes up at least an hour before me cuz he goes to bed about an hour and a half, two hours before I do. And then um getting ready for Sofia's party on Sunday. We're just I decided we're just going to order chicken from a chicken shack. I don't know if there's a chicken shack all. It's just a chicken place.
It's not It's not um Chick-fil-A. It's It's chicken. Fried chicken. Well, you I think you can get it grilled, I think.
But we're getting it fried. And then um we're going to pick up her cake on Saturday cuz the baker is not open on Sunday.
And then my brother Michael is going to see Mary at the rehab center today. I'm going to go tomorrow. And Denise is going to go on Thursday. And then my brother said he's going to go again on Friday. But I'm probably won't get back there until Monday because Saturday I'll be busy, you know, get my house all straightened and going and paying for the uh because Chrissy's going to pick the food up on her way here.
So, pay for the food and then pick up the cake and then uh Sunday's the party. So, looking forward to that. That'll be fun.
Right now, they're predicting a 40% chance of rain. So, I'm hoping that it changes that there's not going to be rain. And then, uh, what else?
Not much going on. I know it's a little breezy back here. It's like a hot breeze. It's not It's muggy. It's very muggy. But, you know, I prefer sitting outside. I have to sit in the house all winter long. I don't want to sit in the house all summer long, too. And to me, this is kind of like when I go to the cottage, I spend more time outside when we go. We didn't rent a We didn't rent any place for the cottage this year. I'm really bummed. The one place we went the first year we went Well, not I mean they raised it a little bit each year, but I haven't been to the cottage since 22. I think in 22. Yeah, it was in 2022.
In 2022, No, I take that back. It was 2023. In 2023, we rented a three-bedroom cottage and it cost us 1375.
We divided it all up. So, my share and we we figure per Now, we don't charge for kids, we figure adults. So, Christy had to pay for two cuz she's got two, her and Aaron. And then I paid for one, Mary paid for one, and Kathleen paid for one, and Denise paid for one. And so, it it came out for the whole week it cost me I think it was $200. And then, you know, you bring your own food or we go out to eat or whatever. But anyway, it was $ 1375 in 2023. And then last year, they raised the price to 32.50 in one year and I am not paying that much. I mean, I know it wouldn't have cost me as much cuz there's so many people going, but I thought, no, I couldn't I no, it's just no, I'm not going to do it.
So, you know, cut my nose to swipe my face. But then when we looked at other places, you know, if you can get it, which they can, um, why not? You know, that's how they make their money. They make their money in the summer with the cottage rentals. So, more power to him.
I understand that. But here comes Jim.
He's done with his work.
At least for now, to get it all done.
>> Yeah. What I wanted to do.
>> Yeah. So, we're just going to sit out.
You going to go shooting if it's raining or No. Well, I'll wait a little see what it looks like >> cuz they shoot outside obviously. But anyway, we'll do our sparks of wisdom and then I will talk with Jim out here.
Trying to find the right day. Today is the 9th.
You cannot add years to your life, but you can fill your days with love and light. It's not the time you count, but the moment you create. Make each day a story before it's too late. While time itself is beyond our control, how we live each day is within our power.
Choose to infuse your days with meaning, joy, and connection. These are the moments that truly enrich your life. The older you get, the more you appreciate that. At least I do. Um I wish I could add more years to my life, but you know, you have a set amount of years and that's all that's going to happen. And then you just got to go with the flow, as they say, and just enjoy every moment. Every day we wake up and when we're bored, we just think, "Well, at least we're alive." At least I think that. What about you, Jim?
>> I I feel whoever eats the fastest eats the most.
>> Yes. Jim's always got a nice saying about something like that. But anyway, um I appreciate everything that goes on in my life, the good and the bad. I know you you got to take the good with the bad. You got to take the bad with the good. But um I think we have a good life going for us, Jim.
>> Not too shabby.
>> Not too shabby. I mean, how many times did we think in the past that we'd be able to just sit outside and chillax and relax and not worry about anything?
>> Not for a long time.
>> Yes. But now we can. So enjoy your life.
Appreciate it. Don't try to rush it.
It'll end soon enough, unfortunately.
But >> send us boxes full of money.
>> Yeah. Send gym boxes full of money.
What's your favorite saying when somebody asks you what you want?
>> An inch worth of brand new $1,000 bills.
>> Yes. He's he's bumped it up. It used to say $100 bills, but now he's he's increased it. So >> inflation >> inflation pay for the How much did we pay for gas for the truck this last time?
>> We had it was I think this last time it was $100 on the nose.
>> But I think we had a dollar off.
We had 75 cents off and the time before we had about the same amount off and it was $128.
>> Yeah, the gas prices have come down a little bit around here. Not a lot, but a little bit. I think they were almost up to $5 at one point.
>> So, they're right around what 430 right now?$440.
>> Well, $3.99.
>> Where?
>> That was with your 75 cents off.
>> No.
Oh, really?
>> Yeah.
>> I haven't been >> No, since my 75 cents.
>> Oh, okay. So, it's coming down. So, anyway, enjoy your life cuz it's it's yours to live. So, talk to you guys soon.
