The mind is a function of the brain, representing everything the brain does through parallel processing of electrical and chemical signals. The brain contains approximately 1 million neurons with 1 billion connections, operating at multiple levels simultaneously. While the brain works in harmony, it is never fully synchronous, which explains why meditation and other practices aim to achieve synchrony. The mind creates meaning through symbols, metaphors, and associations, allowing humans to make sense of the world. Despite sharing 70% of genes across all human populations, the 1% genetic difference makes each individual unique. The brain's parallel processing enables complex human experiences but makes strict rational thinking difficult, as the mind operates through both sequential and parallel processes simultaneously.
