GOP Congressman SNAPS With Plot To Allow Deadly Force Against Women

[00:00:00]A Republican in North Carolina apparently wants to make it possible to use deadly force, those words, to stop a woman from daring to have an abortion.

[00:00:09]So you can kill her to stop her from terminating her pregnancy. And we're going to label this under prolife, I guess. So, this legislation is backed only by Republican State Representative Keith Kiddwell, who you definitely want to be on an elevator with, uh, would classify abortion as first-degree murder and open the right of another person to defend the life of the unborn baby as they see fit. The bill, which would grant personhood to fertilized eggs, could be on the ballot for voters in November's midterms. So, it's effectively stand your ground, but the ground is the womb, I suppose. Uh, it would go into effect if approved by voters January 1st of next year. And so effectively it amends the state constitution to declare that a distinct and separate human life begins at the moment of fertilization and states that that that's a matter of indisputable scientific fact when it is at best a philosoph philosophical conversation to be had. And uh as always with these personhood things uh personhood would stop you from having an abortion. But don't get any ideas about benefiting in from some way from having another life.

[00:01:12]You're not going to be able to do the carpool lane. It's not going to have any tax benefits or anything like that. They don't care about you or your kid. And they can't stress that enough. And here's how they're stressing it. I I just want to focus on the fact that to stop a person from having an abortion, you can kill them.

[00:01:32]That's one of the most amazing leaps in logic I think I've ever heard. Now, maybe the idea is maybe what Keith Kidwell wants you to do is murder the doctor or murder the nurse. I don't know. Either way, it doesn't feel very pro-life to me. But here is what it says. Any person has the right to defend his or her own life or the life of another person, even by the use of deadly force, if necessary, from willful destruction by another person. The state has an interest and a duty to defend innocent persons from willful destruction of their lives, and to punish those who take the lives of persons born or unborn who have not committed any crime punishable by death.

[00:02:11]So, if I'm following this logic, Brett, so you are allowed, if you see a woman who's about to get an abortion, you can kill her. But if I see you about to do that, I can kill you >> and and on and on and on until I think we're all dead, which feels like the logical end state of Republican governance. Now, bear in mind, he's already uh some of those who had been supporting this are backing off of it.

[00:02:35]State Representative Ben Moss has removed his name from from it, saying the purpose behind this legislation was to affirm the value value and dignity of unborn life, not to suggest that women should face capital punishment or to create uncertainty surrounding difficult medical situations. Unfortunately, portions of the bill's current language have led to significant misunderstandings.

[00:02:54]It's not a misunderstanding. We quoted the bill, but Brett, what do you make of it? Yeah, this this story is why I frequently want to bash my head against the wall. And I'm talking about everybody in the story. Okay, the average amount of time you spend on death row is two decades, which is longer than the average gestation period of the humans. So obviously this is supposed to be a deterrent against abortion to save your own life. But so that's what I hate about people being like this is not shoot the hostage. It's funny to say they're being ridiculous.
