[00:00:00]Okay, this isn't news or anything, but the collector community has very high expectations.

[00:00:08]>> Yeah, it's not news because this has been happening since before we started collecting.

[00:00:14]>> Yeah, expectations for some reason within the collector community are set very high. We have a good example for this video which we're going to discuss.

[00:00:22]It includes Thrilljoy and you know Thrilljoy an up andcoming company.

[00:00:28]>> Yeah. you know, gaining a lot of traction, a lot of fans. You know what I'm noticing with Thorough Joy mostly?

[00:00:34]>> What >> the sales on whatnot? Like I hear about that more than anything else.

[00:00:39]>> Oh, yeah.

[00:00:39]>> It's all about whatn not sales with Thrill Joy. And I guess they work perfectly for that like app because they're mystery.

[00:00:48]>> Yeah.

[00:00:48]>> Right. So, you rip them live and people are like, I'll buy that and they buy it and they don't know what they're going to end up getting. So, I think a lot of times like whoever the seller is, maybe not just Thor Joy, but like whoever the seller is, I think when you win it, you have the option for the person hosting to either open it or leave it sealed.

[00:01:08]>> Well, and it's not even like does Thor Joy sell on there on whatnot? I know they've done like random sale, but I don't know if they're on there actively.

[00:01:17]I don't I don't >> I don't know how active they are. I have no idea. So, I I think I have a whatnot account. I think I made one a long time ago, but I don't have like the app or anything. I think I I think we like logged in one time because there was some like big event. I don't know if it was >> if it was Funko or something. I don't remember.

[00:01:39]>> Yeah, it doesn't matter. I mean, >> but it didn't it didn't entice me at all.

[00:01:43]>> Yeah. Well, anyway, we're we're not fans of whatnot. That's not our thing.

[00:01:48]>> But that's not what this video is about.

[00:01:49]It's not I'm just saying I'm just saying that we're not fans of it which is why we don't know a whole lot about it. We don't really talk about it. I'm not going to get into it. Let's talk about this particular discussion which which is expectations and expectations.

[00:02:05]>> Well, can I say something before?

[00:02:08]>> Of course you can. It's a podcast. You can say whatever you want.

[00:02:10]>> Okay, good. Well, I didn't want to interrupt you because it looked like you were deep in thought, but I would like to take a moment to mention our independent toy company, and this is, in my opinion, the per perfect time to do so. And I'll tell you why in a moment, but we own a toy company called Mischief Toys. We do super limited edition vinyl.

[00:02:33]We do super limited edition resin. We just started dipping our little toesies into resin. Some of us have have bigger toesies than others. That's right.

But I feel like we as collectors, YouTubers, people who have like kept our eyes on the collectible scene for so many years have a very unique perspective because we own a toy company and we see some of this stuff firsthand.

[00:03:39]>> Expectations. Yeah.

[00:03:41]>> So there >> Well, can I comment about Miss Toys for a second?

[00:03:43]>> Absolutely. Because the the only reason why I want to comment about Mischief Toys is >> you know we to buy something very special with Mischief Toys. I know now it's like what 2022 I think is when we really got our start in this toy business. Yes.

[00:03:57]>> And it has evolved into something great and huge and exciting. And the thing I love so much about Mischief Toys, and I don't say it enough, I don't think, but I really love that we have our own characters, our own style, and we're not making licensed product like with every new announcement and run. So, that's something special. And if you are a fan of collectibles and you want to dip your toes into something so different and new that's not the same as a lot of these other companies that we talk about, not saying there's anything wrong with them.

[00:04:28]I'm just saying that we're just different in in a way because we're smaller, we're independent, we have these characters that we've developed that we are like solely making, you know, new creations of.

[00:04:40]Yeah.

[00:04:40]>> So, it's just really fun and different and I really want more people to jump on board. We have a lot of fans. We have a great fan base, but we're always looking for more people to make mischief with us.

[00:04:50]>> Yeah.

[00:04:50]>> So, I just wanted to mention that.

[00:04:52]Mischief Toys.com. It's important. It's important because it's our family business and it's the love of our lives.

[00:04:58]It's like our little baby.

[00:04:59]>> Yeah.

[00:05:00]>> So, expectations.

[00:05:03]>> Now, I personally have been in situations where I have very high expectations. I'll give you an example.

[00:05:11]>> Ooh, I have an example. Well, my example is when we went to the Funko event in New York.

[00:05:18]>> Yes.

[00:05:18]>> For New York Comic-Con. I think it was 2022.

[00:05:23]>> And so, it was a fright night. Mike Becker put on a wonderful show. It was very fun. The room, >> there was much to be desired. There was no seating. The food went like immediately. It just wasn't how I envisioned a Funko event. and it wasn't how it was explained to me that like in other words fundays was a different >> thing and so I thought it would be similar to that and because it wasn't similar to that I came back from that and I made video we made content about how frustrated and angry I was that it wasn't the same thing and it didn't feel right to me and I didn't like it for that reason and looking back on it now I really feel awful about doing that because they did what they could they did the best they could do with what they had.

[00:06:08]>> Yeah.

[00:06:08]>> And I'm glad that I was able to attend it and I was able to see it because, you know, that was something we had never done before. And I really should have been focused on that versus dogging it because Mike Becker, the reality is Mike Becker was the show and I really wanted to see Mike Becker do a show.

[00:06:26]>> Yeah. So, for years and years and years, we have had friends who would attend fundays like every single year. Every year. and they would talk it up and it's so great. And then once it sort of became a bit more publicized because before it was sort of like an underground sort of thing, like if you went to SECCC and really followed Funko, you would know about Fundays. But I remember the first year it was like widely publicized because they streamed it online and they did their first at home box of fun. I want to say it was like 2017 or 2018 or something like that. And it was so fantastic. The show was huge. The stage was huge. They had all these like celebrities on stage.

[00:07:13]They had teams. They had seats. They had food. They had just all sorts of amazing things. And so when you hear about Fundays and you see Fundays and you're like, "Oh my god, this is what a Funko event is." Going to that fright night.

[00:07:28]Yeah, of course it would be, you know, maybe a little bit disappointing to someone who is expecting something funday level. Now, for me, I loved it. I loved the show. That was why I was there. The only thing that I could sort of relate to with your frustration was that it was not seated. And you know, for your average coner, like you're walking around all day long. Now, some people may not have gone to the convention. Some people may have solely went to fundays. I don't know. But for us, it was like super draining because we had worked the convention all day and we're standing all day long. We're barely eating. We're barely drinking water, which we have learned. Drink water. Make sure you take time to eat.

[00:08:22]That is like number one rules for working and attending conventions.

[00:08:27]But we were just so tired.

[00:08:30]So I understand your frustration with that. However, here's where Mischief Toys perspective comes in because we have run events. We have run events ever since the first year in business with Mischief Toys. New York Comic-Con 2022, we did a really small event at a really small bar in New York City and it was awesome. We had so much fun.

[00:08:59]We have been in situations where we have run events and uh I'll tell you one time we were told well the fire code is x amount of people. We had less than the amount of people that the person that owned the venue um told us we could have in there. And people were packed in like sardines.

[00:09:28]>> Yeah.

[00:09:31]>> We also have run an event where we were promised, you know, we we paid x amount of dollars for food and one the food was not put out when we agreed that it would be put out. And I was running around like a crazy person.

[00:09:51]You were running around like a crazy person. The whole team was running around like crazy people. And all of a sudden, I looked around and I don't see any food. So, I went up to the person who was working and I was like, "Hey, where's the food?" They were like, "Oh, yeah. Um, I meant to ask you about that.

[00:10:08]Uh, what do you want?" And I'm like, I've had multiple conversations about this and I spent I'm just going to say over $1,000 for like bar food. I don't even think that they put out like $400 worth. It was It went so fast and I was so frustrated and that was beyond my control because I'm running a show. I can't stay on top of them to figure all this out, right? So, you know, I don't want to blame somebody when something might not be perfect because what if they were promised chairs or what if they were promised more food and it just didn't happen because of the venue, you know?

[00:10:55]>> Yeah. So, sometimes it's hard for companies, even bigger than ours, to meet the expectations of a collector, a fan of the brand.

[00:11:07]>> Yeah. And so a lot of people got upset about the way the Funko tickets were sold recently as an example. And people were really upset and they they basically have these expectations that I need my ticket. Why am I not getting my ticket? Then they start to blame game and blaming things as to why they're not getting it. Then they're trying to find proof and then they're posting it all over the internet. Look, Bots's got this. Same thing happened with the LE um uh uh Art the Clown figure that went crazy, too. Look at the mystery boxes that these influencers have.

[00:11:39]>> That was like reverse expectations.

[00:11:42]It was or not even re like why did the influencers get it? I deserve it because I spend money with Funko and they're fake collectors. And it's like well hold on like these guys >> got to where they are to work with Funko.

[00:12:00]>> I'm not going to go on defense mode for that because I've done that already. And Well, no. No. In other words, I I don't want to get into that.

[00:12:06]>> It's a it's a baby rant because >> No, it is. I mean, so the bottom line isn't necessarily what the what the battle is or what their the expectations that aren't met and why they're angry.

[00:12:17]It's really that >> I think the fan base needs to temper their expectations. Yeah. And so when you have low count pieces or you have an event that doesn't have a million tickets associated with it, we all have to expect at some point that we're not going to be able to get the thing or go to the thing. And so by looking at it, I I think that maybe there was a time as a collector that I would get angry and frustrated about these things. And most recently when that whole thing happened last week with us getting the 750 piece Teenage Mut Ninja Turtle thing and we made the video and I was like what the what the f how >> that was my example I was going to use for you.

[00:12:56]>> Yeah. So, what the f and all that kind of stuff. But I I think for me I and I even said it in the video, I wasn't angry about it that it was just it was frustrating the way that it happened >> and the way that the email was worded because the email basically said guaranteed access which le like in their FAQ it's basically like you know while supplies last. But the way the email was worded was like well you're guaranteed to have access to this figure. leaving an email saying that you did get the thing versus not getting it because a bot got it instead. They just are two different things to me. That's not even the topic of this conversation, but I'm just pointing out places where these things happen. And yes, even today I could I get frustrated over certain things and that's okay. I mean, we all we all can do that. We can all get frustrated and everything. I think what gets me is that people go on rants raves, you know, claim the companies are against them, that they're, you know, the hobby's dead and Funko's dead and whoever's dead and screw Thrill Joy, I don't like them and and screw that company, screw this company. And they get so angry and we see a lot of it in both our comments. We also see it on Disrackers, Dis Funco, whatever his name is today.

[00:14:17]>> Dish Trackers. It's been that way for years.

[00:14:20]>> You see comments there where people are angry and stuff and you just read it and wonder. And a lot of the times it's the same people. It's no one knew. It's typically the same people and they have their reasoning for being angry and whatever. That's fine. They're going to be angry. But I guess today and I didn't really know this is going on. You sort of shared it with me and explained it to me. Um so I'll just move over to the actual photo of this. So, it's about the Thrilljoy Rock the Block event. Now, I just want to put this out there. Heather and I went to the event last year.

[00:14:57]>> Brian Mariotti and crew invited us out because at the time we were doing interviews. We were doing all we were working with them in a way. Um, that was before they had their little panel of of >> influencers or whatever.

[00:15:09]>> No, it it was after >> well, a little bit, but anyway, it doesn't matter. But we had a sort of relationship that we don't really talk to him that much anymore. And that's fine because it isn't like we're covering Thrilljoy every single day like we do Funkco. So it's kind of a different ballgame. But I still do like Thrill Joy. I think they're great and I think it's fun what they're doing.

[00:15:32]>> I like the mystery figures. I've said it time and time again.

[00:15:35]>> Yeah. So >> and and I think that this thing was great, too. So this is a raffle >> to win tickets to the Rock the Block >> Yes. event. So in their club recently, Cluble Lle is basically like their points program. So you could enter this raffle.

[00:15:57]We discussed it on a video. I don't know if it was just one time or if you could just do it unlimited until you ran out of points, but basically every purchase you make gets you points into your club.

[00:16:08]And you can like like one of the things they have is for a,000 points you can get one of their jerseys. Um, but I don't remember how many points this cost. Maybe it was like 50 or something, but you could enter to possibly win a ticket, one ticket to their SECCC event called Rock the Block.

[00:16:30]>> So, let's pause for a second. great business move because that means they're sending people to the website to buy more and you as an example would go on there and say, "Oh, um, I've been meaning to buy this figure." And then you're like, you know, I really want to make the amount of points to put in for this raffle.

[00:16:46]>> Yeah.

[00:16:46]>> So, I'm going to buy a bunch. So, now I'm going to buy six of them. Oh, and not only am I going to put my chance towards this raffle, but also I might pull a chase or something cool from the lineup of figures that I'm purchasing.

[00:16:57]Right.

[00:16:57]>> That's great. So across the board, no matter how this plays out, it all >> it the added bonus is the point system on their website.

[00:17:06]>> Yes, >> that does not have to exist.

[00:17:08]>> No, it doesn't.

[00:17:09]>> But they have it there. So you can win things and do things with the points, which is a it's a great thing. Funko does it. A lot of companies do it.

[00:17:17]>> Yeah. So, this was a raffle for two tickets to >> one one Oh, it is >> two tickets to Thrill Joy 2026 SDCC block party. Rock the Block.

[00:17:29]>> I'm sorry. I thought it was one ticket.

[00:17:31]>> Well, I think it's one winner.

[00:17:32]>> I think it's one entry.

[00:17:34]>> One winner gets two tickets.

[00:17:35]>> Two tickets. Well, we I don't know if they ever specified how many winners there would be.

[00:17:42]>> Okay. So, reading through comments, we read that people seem to have been upset that only one winner was selected. Now, as you just said, there's we have no confirmation that that's true. You've reached out to Thoroughjoy asking the question. We're still waiting to hear from them. Do you want to check and see if they've said anything yet?

[00:18:04]>> Okay. No response. So, we have no idea what the end result is here. Did one person get selected? Was it multiple? We only know of one person being selected.

[00:18:17]People are angry.

[00:18:20]>> I'm upset. See, people are upset.

[00:18:22]>> Yeah. I don't know if angry >> only that only one person was selected to win.

[00:18:27]>> Well, I think I think it might be an assumption, but I don't like I don't know if there were terms written on like the entry. I should >> I just wonder I wonder why somebody would be angry or upset about that. I guess I guess the idea is you have multiple chances to win, right? So if there are 25 tickets they're giving away, it's like, okay, I could be one of the 25 people. But I think what people are missing and misunderstanding or maybe not seeing clearly and we do as so back to us being a company, we are Mischief Toys and Mischief Toys, we've done a lot of things. Now, when you look at these companies, I I've talked about this a lot, but these companies have a lot of money to play with. So, they can do great things. They can put on big parties. They can put up um big um uh event spaces at the at the different events at at the ComicCons. We cannot do that because we just don't have that kind of capital to do those types of things.

[00:19:28]But what we do know is that giving away anything like this is an expense and sometimes it can be pretty expensive.

[00:19:36]>> Yeah.

[00:19:37]>> So if these tickets I don't remember how much they were last year. $150 a person something like that.

[00:19:42]>> 150 200 somewhere between 150 and 200.

[00:19:45]>> So you're I mean I look I know Thrill Joy is a huge company. I know that they're you know selling a lot of products and they're making a lot of money. So you'd you'd think I'd think maybe they would select five winners and then they would give out right. I don't know. But what I'm saying is as a smaller company, I don't know what their situation is. I don't know h how things are going over at the joy. I don't know a thing. But what I can say is us giving away even one free ticket is pretty heavy for us.

[00:20:15]>> When you're hosting an event, you have to think about everything that goes into it. Like for us, we have venue, we have food, which you know, you're promised one thing and you might get another. Um, which is really unfortunate.

[00:20:32]>> Um, you have all of the products that you're given away.

[00:20:37]>> Yeah.

[00:20:37]>> You have employees.

[00:20:40]>> Um, anything that you have there, whether it's decorations or like >> it's you're looking at dollar bills everywhere. Literally, it's dollars just hanging all over the place.

[00:20:49]>> Thrilljoy, I'm just going to talk about last year, they had a [ __ ] ferris wheel. They rented a fence to put around the thing.

[00:20:58]>> They had the space itself.

[00:21:00]>> Yeah. The space, the food stands, the food, the alcohol, the employees running the thing, the stage. Yeah. The They had a ferris wheel, which is insane.

[00:21:11]>> All celebrity talent.

[00:21:12]>> Yeah.

[00:21:14]Um, did they have celebrities there?

[00:21:17]Who?

[00:21:19]>> There was a guy that played uh uh Pinky in a Brain. Pinky.

[00:21:24]>> Oh, I don't remember that.

[00:21:25]>> Yeah, the voice actor. He was up on stage. I know. We were running all over the place, but I did capture a couple of things that were going on >> behind the scenes.

[00:21:33]>> On top of that, >> I mean, not behind the scenes, but like on stage.

[00:21:36]>> They gave away stuff. Just the lanyards with our little cards that they would punch holes in. That's an expense.

[00:21:43]>> Mhm.

[00:21:44]>> All of these things. And we know all of that because >> when we put on Night of Mischief every year, we put on Day of Mischief last year. A lot of people were like, "Why aren't you doing Day of Mischief again?

[00:21:52]You should do it again." And it's like, man, >> you know, us selling tickets, we don't walk away with a whole lot of money.

[00:21:59]>> Not saying we have to. I'm just saying like, >> no, as a business, what I'm saying is is that it's expensive.

[00:22:08]>> It's expensive and it's time consuming.

[00:22:12]And time and money are in my opinion equals because when you're using your time in order to put these events together and setting it all up and you know it might I don't know how people what they thought of Day of Mischief. I would say it was the best coordinated event we've ever put on and it was not even that well coordinated. Um on our end we did we did our best to coordinate that thing. Um you and I were bickering with with each other that day. We were getting frustrated with each other.

[00:22:41]There's just a lot going on there. And you and I were never >> we were never people that that put on events like this. Like you put you put together our wedding, that was it. That was where the line was drawn right then and there, which is a big thing in itself. But putting on an event like that is a lot of money. It's a lot of time.

[00:22:58]>> And so when people were like, are you doing Day of Mischief a second year in a row? We're like, no, we're going to do it again, but probably, you know, maybe we'll do it next year. I don't know.

[00:23:07]2027 might be Day of Mischief again.

[00:23:08]Don't hold me to that, >> but But it was a wonderful event. I mean, look, I I don't want to stick on Mission Toys, but uh too long. But that was an event that we brought people to our hometown, which is look, no one else is doing this. No one.

[00:23:24]>> Yeah.

[00:23:24]>> You tell me who's I mean, you could say that Funko is doing it and that Thor Joyy's doing it because they live in California. Maybe because they're right there, but we had people coming in. We had a person fly from Puerto Rico.

[00:23:36]>> Yeah. to come to an event.

[00:23:40]What it was flattering and what you know the fact that we're even able to pull it off was unbelievable. I mean I'm shocked over over that myself today.

[00:23:48]>> But the time, effort, and expenses that go into this. I mean, I deserve like my monthly salary times 10 just for that event in my opinion because >> I'm not laughing. I'm not laughing at all because you're 100% true.

[00:24:07]>> The the the amount of time that we put into I mean we had meetings before that thing. We had to like talk to people. We had to like put things together and ensure that everything ran smoothly and direct people.

[00:24:18]>> Well, that's what I'm saying. I can't even imagine Thrill Joy and Funko's events because what they're putting on is just so unreal. I mean, it's it's a lot. And people people don't grasp that.

[00:24:29]They don't understand that. And >> and I think we didn't either when you know you were like, "Oh, you know, my feet were tired from standing all day. I can't believe they have tables and chairs." Right.

[00:24:42]>> Right. Right. Well, and I think that's that's our position here is explaining these things to people who may not understand it or maybe they they're not that they don't understand it because that's like saying people are dumb. What I'm saying is that people don't necessarily think about all of what's involved in it, right? And it to them, you know, they've never maybe done it before, but we've done it. And I've complained about a lot of things over the years. I complained about the fun days where people were getting the same stuff at home and the same stuff at the show.

[00:25:09]>> Awful that it ever happened, but the bottom line is Funko put a lot of work into making that happen. By the way, I I don't know. Did you see that Funko claimed Funkco on Instagram?

[00:25:21]>> What? Yeah, they were original Funkco and now they're Funkco.

[00:25:28]>> Oh, >> they got the name. I don't know how they even worked that out, but they got it.

[00:25:32]And I think that's amazing.

[00:25:33]>> They I just I'm conf So, what >> they were original Funko and now they're Funko. They're at Funko.

[00:25:41]>> Okay, so here's my question.

[00:25:44]>> Did someone else have the name Funko?

[00:25:46]>> I'm assuming that there was some issue.

[00:25:47]I I don't know. Interesting.

[00:25:49]>> Yeah, I don't know much about it, but yeah. Congratulations, Fungo. That's pretty cool.

[00:25:53]>> But I wonder if it cost a lot of money to get it. And I wondered if all that money came from maybe them collecting user data without permission.

[00:26:03]>> That you know, it's funny. I read this.

[00:26:05]>> Uhhuh.

[00:26:06]>> Um there's some guy.

[00:26:08]>> Yeah, I saw it's some guy.

[00:26:10]>> Yeah. And he's like they're colle I didn't even want to make content about this because >> let's let's talk about this. Ken, what all I'm going to say is I I didn't want to make content about this because >> it just seems >> petty.

[00:26:25]>> I don't know. It's hard for me to call something petty when it's like people's data being collected and being sold, but I just don't know enough about what happened and there these are accusations and claims that are being made. I don't necessarily know if that's real. See, Funko accused, so I don't know this to even be true. Is it true? But there's a lot of companies doing this and a lot of websites doing this. So, is it true?

[00:26:49]Maybe. But I mean, I I don't know that for sure. Anyway, I didn't want to get into that. I saw it posted yesterday and I wondered what people's thoughts are.

[00:26:57]So, maybe we will make content on it.

[00:26:58]But anyway, so the the the thing is is that, you know, I expectations are damn crazy thing because you go you Okay, another another point. People are paying $150 or more to go to these events. Okay.

[00:27:19]>> To go to fundays, you get free stuff while you're there. You go through joy.

[00:27:24]>> It's included in the ticket.

[00:27:26]>> Understood. But you get free stuff and most of the time that stuff can be sold for a higher amount. Yeah.

[00:27:31]>> That night people do that and they make a lot of their money back.

[00:27:34]>> I'm not saying that's right or wrong.

[00:27:36]I'm just saying that happens.

[00:27:37]>> But that event, you're getting food.

[00:27:42]Hopefully not food poisoning, but you get food, you get these uh you get an event, a show, and sometimes they have, you know, um celebrities, music, all sorts of stuff. It's in a cool venue typically in some capacity, and there's things to do, right? So, it's a party.

[00:27:57]You you're in you're in San Diego and here's a party.

[00:28:01]>> Yeah.

[00:28:01]>> And the way that I looked at Night of Mischief was >> there isn't a party happening in New York, right? Like they had the the the Funko event we just talked about.

[00:28:13]>> Yeah. But that was that was four year almost four years ago now.

[00:28:16]>> Right. Right. So when I thought about Night Mish originally, I was like, "Oh, it' be cool to get everybody together, meet people we've never met before." And then as it grew, I was like, "Well, we should have a party here."

[00:28:25]>> And so my plan, our plan this year is to make this year the biggest party we've ever done. I mean, that's really what I want to do.

[00:28:31]>> It's going to be cool as [ __ ] >> But what people, again, temper your expectations on things. I'm not saying that you don't get good stuff at a Mischief Toys event, but what I'm saying is is that it's so expensive, it's hard for us to do a lot. Like, you know what I mean? You go to a Funko event and you're getting like, you walk out of there with eight Funko Pops.

[00:28:52]>> A large company doing that, >> it's possible.

[00:28:55]>> Yeah.

[00:28:55]>> But when you're talking about Mischief Toys, it's not so possible. And so, we do the best that we can do with what we have. Again, it goes back. So, you have to temper expectations.

[00:29:04]>> Yeah. So, We talked about expenses for putting on events and you know we we try to make tickets as inexpensive as we possibly can. We take the price of everything that goes into this and we set like okay here's the lowest amount of people that we could possibly have and here's the highest amount of people we could possibly have based on the venue. And of course, like what it would cost to break even realistically because that we're lucky if we break even on on our events because so much goes into >> Don't even talk about last year and the amount of money lost just on how awful that whole thing happened with the shipment being >> late. We had we had to we had to spend we had to spend >> thousands of dollars shipping >> Oh, it was just unbelievable. figures after the fact because >> they didn't show up in time. Yeah, it was it was horrible.

[00:30:08]>> So, >> the fact is if we Mischief Toys were giving away multiple chances at free tickets. I mean that that we we just couldn't really that that would be very hard for us to >> every ticket purchase counts >> and we look at that and I'm not saying Thrill Joy has to do that and I'm not saying that Funko has to do that but there is a bottom line for these companies. So they have to hit a certain dollar amount to make sense of it because Thrilljoy >> not so much they're a bit different but Funko is a publicly traded company.

[00:30:46]Yeah. So they're trying to make stockholders happy. So they got to make sure that the stockholders are looking at this as a financial gain. Yeah.

[00:30:54]>> And not a we're giving stuff away today and we're just trying to please the fans. Yeah.

[00:31:00]>> And in the past for us, we've done everything we could to make sure that some sort of financial gain. And you know, you do your best, >> but most of the time it's for fun.

[00:31:10]>> Yeah.

[00:31:10]>> It's just that's just how it is.

[00:31:12]>> Events are not a money-making thing at all. Just traveling to a convention is not a money-making thing, but we like to show our faces. We like to get the community together.

[00:31:23]>> We like to we like the engagement.

[00:31:25]>> Yeah. So, this isn't a complaint. This is an explanation of a little bit of behind the scenes and why there shouldn't be these heavy expectations, but >> especially for Thor Joy with the expectation of them having a bunch of tickets to give away. That's that's the sort of the focal point of this. Yeah.

[00:31:44]>> And I and I think that people complaining about it, you have every right to do that. You have every right to feel how you feel and you have every right to kind of show your >> your frustration on the internet.

[00:31:57]Everybody has the right to do that.

[00:31:59]>> All I'm saying is maybe think about how this stuff goes. Think about these companies and think about the amount that they put in. you know, an example, a little bit of an example, just a tiny bit of an example, but look at the amount of marketing that Funko is putting out there with videos and Oh, yeah. and and social media creators.

[00:32:20]>> The amount of money they they have to be spending on it has to be just obnoxious.

[00:32:23]>> Hiring people, placing ads in places on the internet, the camera work, the people in front of the cameras.

[00:32:31]>> And this isn't even a boohoo like, oh, poor Funko, poor Thorough Joy, poor poor Mischief Toys. It really isn't that.

[00:32:37]It's really just to understand kind of what goes into all of all of this.

[00:32:43]>> Yeah.

[00:32:43]>> And and how all this is, you know, what it's like at the end of the day, I guess.

[00:32:50]>> Yeah.

[00:32:51]>> Yeah.

[00:32:52]>> Yeah. There there there is a lot of expectations there. And I think that, you know, what we should do is think about everything that goes into this stuff and and be a bit more realistic because, you know, if they didn't explicitly say, you know, 30 winners are being chosen and you can somehow prove that 30 emails weren't were weren't sent, then there's no reason to be upset. Like I still don't know 100% if there was just one winner or >> we have no idea.

[00:33:30]>> Yeah, cuz I did I didn't read anything like I think that we went and I looked quickly at like how many points it was going to cost >> to get an entry, >> but I didn't see like, you know, oh, one person's going to be and I wouldn't even think about that. I would be like, cool, good for them. You know, someone got the chance to get free tickets and they got them, which is really, really cool.

[00:33:51]That's another thing about the community is that the people aren't they don't tend to be happy for others.

[00:33:58]>> Yes. Which is so weird sometime.

[00:34:01]>> I don't know if it's weird. I think it's just it's a human thing where people there's jealousy is is very heavy and people have FOMO and they're mad to see people are getting something. I you know what I've been seeing a lot of I don't mean to do Do you have a point you really need to get to? Uh, I I was just going to say that Throwjoy didn't need to even offer that, but they did.

[00:34:22]>> But they did. Exactly my point. They have the point system.

[00:34:25]>> Yeah.

[00:34:26]>> But I've been noticing, and it's it's not even with collectibles that you and I are into. For whatever reason, my algorithm on Facebook is picking up collectibles pretty often. And most recently, it's NECA figures. Don't know why. I don't collect NECA. I love NECA.

[00:34:40]I think I think NECA is great, but I'm not a collector of NECA. And I'm just It's I'm I'm in hot toys. That's just how it is.

[00:34:46]>> Their tuni terror line.

[00:34:48]>> Good stuff.

[00:34:49]>> Totally agree. Tuni terror is really great. But there's these people that post photos of them going to like say Walmart and there's a new figure that came out. Let's just say it's a Penny Wise. It might have been a Penny Wise. I can't remember. Or maybe it's Art the Clown. And a person will post two of them in their cart.

[00:35:09]These guys destroy that person.

[00:35:14]Why?

[00:35:14]>> Where did you get them? The guy explains.

[00:35:18]>> Why' you buy two? You shouldn't have bought two. You're onebody's business.

[00:35:22]>> Oh, it's one of those people that buys all of them and blah blah. I mean, just one dude bought three figures.

[00:35:27]>> And >> what if he has two friends looking for the same thing?

[00:35:30]>> Well, that was precisely it.

[00:35:32]>> I don't know about you, but like a lot of my friends have similar interests to me. Now, I might not like Star Wars.

[00:35:42]You're a big Star Wars guy. I'm a big horror girl. You like horror.

[00:35:45]>> A big what?

[00:35:46]>> Horror girl.

[00:35:47]>> You Why did you say horror and horror?

[00:35:49]When you're calling When you're saying about yourself, you're saying horror, but to me, you're saying horror.

[00:35:54]>> Can you say horror? Cuz horror doesn't sound right.

[00:35:57]>> I'm a big horror girl.

[00:35:58]>> Don't say that.

[00:35:59]>> Horror girl.

[00:36:00]>> Thank you.

[00:36:02]>> I I switch between the two. Anyway, >> horror.

[00:36:07]So, you know, if I like something, there's a chance that you would like it because you like horror. But if you like something that's Star Wars, you wouldn't even think about me because I don't I I could give a [ __ ] less about Star Star Wars, right? But the fact of the matter is you and I have like so many similar interests, >> right? So, and that goes for not just the person I'm married to, but like my friends. I have so many friends who are into horror, who are into uh cats, who are into Taylor Swift, who are into collecting things like that. So, to expect someone to only buy one of something and that's it. I mean, most people might buy one of something, but if you have a friend and you buy one or two extra, that doesn't mean that you're a flipper.

[00:36:57]>> Well, exactly. Well, I mean, dumb.

[00:36:59]>> Yeah. I mean, that's I think I think that's that's the obvious point here is that people are jumping on them. They're not happy for them. There there are some people in the comment section are happy for them, but most of them are beating the ever living crap out of these guys.

[00:37:12]And that's what I'm seeing across the board, which is why, and I'll I'll hit it again, that's why Gascast we hunt together is such a big deal to me, uh, the group on Facebook and this channel because really that's where we got our started was helping each other. And we help people. We've and you know, I actually got called out about this maybe a year ago, but as somebody said something along the lines of in every video I would talk about helping each other and all that, and they're like, "Do you help anybody?" Talk about me.

[00:37:38]And I'm like, "Well, wait a minute. I don't go out. I really don't. I don't go out and buy anything. I usually order all my stuff online. If I can capture it, somebody might message me and say, "Hey, I found this at the store. Can I help you out?" Whatever. Cool. I don't go shopping. I don't go anywhere anymore. You know that. I don't go anywhere. I come home every day. I go to the gym. I come home. We make these videos. And then we work on Mission Toys.

[00:38:00]>> But you're forgetting something. Yeah.

[00:38:02]when we go to conventions or if there's something really cool coming out that one of our friends >> that one of our we know for certain that one of our friends would be interested in.

[00:38:12]>> Yeah.

[00:38:12]>> We will go out of our way to ask, "Hey, we're going to this convention. Is there anything you're looking for?" Or, "Hey, this is really cool. It reminded me of you. Is this something that you might want? Are you available to get it? Cuz if not, I can try to help because it's super limited or whatever the case may be."

[00:38:28]Well, my point is is that throughout all my years of of doing what we do, I have helped people a lot a lot.

[00:38:38]>> Remember that guy that I helped a lot a lot with like hundreds of dollars worth of things and all of a sudden I had like a pile in my office of like things and then they kept having excuses as to why they couldn't pay me.

[00:38:51]>> Anyone pay you? I remember >> and I had to go back to the stores and like return it all because I was like I'm not dealing with this. Absolutely horrendous.

[00:38:58]>> Yeah.

[00:38:58]>> Yeah. But I don't know. We've gotten so far off track now. But but the point is is you know expectations are very high and then you also have people who are just unhappy. You have people who are angry. You have people who can't be help you know or I'm sorry you have people who can't be happy for others. Like there that's everything I just mentioned. There's like a negative feature detail to it. Yeah.

[00:39:21]>> And having high expectations. Okay.

[00:39:24]Right now I'm going to funday. You and I are going to funday. We're lucky enough to go to Fundays. We work with Funkco, so we were able to get the opportunity.

[00:39:30]Look, I am stoked over that and I'm appreciative of it and most likely will be the only Fundays I ever get to go to.

[00:39:39]>> Yeah.

[00:39:39]>> So, I'm happy about that.

[00:39:41]>> Yeah. Same.

[00:39:43]>> My expectations right now, I'm trying to temper them and say, "Okay, I'm not going to go there and expect the world, but I'm excited for it."

[00:39:53]>> Yeah. If I if I go there and I open my box of fun and it doesn't have anything that's pertains to me, maybe I can trade and find something I really want, whatever the case may be, >> but I'm going to go there just to enjoy the experience. That's the whole point is like the box and the figures are in there and that's great, but it's really about the whole experience.

[00:40:10]>> Not just the experience, but we are going to be in an area filled with people who love Funko. Maybe some who flip Funko, but who love Funko. And that is going to be so much fun. There is going to be so much energy there and I am stoked for that. I honestly do not give a [ __ ] about the stuff. I give a [ __ ] about the experience and I'm excited to experience our first Fundays.

[00:40:34]Now, speaking of tempering expectations next year when Fundays rolls around, I'm not going to expect Funko to be like, "Hey, Chris and Heather, come to our event."

[00:40:45]>> Right?

[00:40:46]>> You know what I mean? Like, I would never think that. And I wouldn't even expect like if we choose to drive across the US next year, I wouldn't even expect to get tickets in that horrendous line.

[00:41:01]>> No, it would have never No, I like I said, >> I tried. There's no There's no way.

[00:41:06]>> Yeah, there's no way. I would never get it. I I'm not lucky enough. The only way I think we would get in is through the Funko fanatic board.

[00:41:11]>> Is if you wore your lucky underpants.

[00:41:13]>> Lucky underpants. Always get some, Heather. I got those lucky underpants.

[00:41:17]Bottom line, be good to each other.

[00:41:20]We're all fans of these things. We're all fans of the same thing and let's just be good. And I understand people being upset and posting being upset and there's nothing wrong with that and you could do whatever you want. I just think that maybe give it some thought sometimes. And I'm talking about all these companies. I'm talking about Funko. I'm talking about Thor Joy. I'm talking about all of them. Like just Mischief Toys because we've had people that got upset about missing stuff from us and they would post and they would go crazy and there's bots and there's this and there's that.

[00:41:46]Oh my god, this this is way over the top.

[00:41:48]>> Well, I'm I'm I'm going to give you a small little story, but this has happened quite a few times because you and I are very accessible. We're very nice. We're very accessible. We're very grateful to our fans, but we have limited edition pieces.

[00:42:02]Uh, we became acquaintances with somebody and they we had known them before we started Mischief Toys, but this person would only ever come around and talk to us when they wanted something. Prime example, the we hunt together mentality.

[00:42:20]They would only talk to us when they wanted us to help them look for something because they knew it would be hard to get or whatever.

[00:42:28]Then they started to try to inch their way even closer to us when we started Mischief Toys. And I'm always down for more friends. I love hanging out with people. I love being friendly with people. I love talking to people. Right.

[00:42:42]>> We've taken people to dinner at events that we've done, conventions. We've taken like groups of people to dinner because we just >> I'm not patting my back or tooting a horn. I'm saying like we enjoy hanging out with people.

[00:42:53]>> Yeah.

[00:42:53]>> Yeah. It makes us feel good. But th this particular person, it's like you sort of knew like in the back of your mind, it's like I know your intentions and your intention isn't to be my friend because you like me. Your intention is to be my friend because you feel like you can get ahead in some way.

[00:43:15]>> Yes. So this person ended up like when they would miss a drop, they would jokingly sort of ask for like, "Hey, can I get this or hey, I wouldn't be upset if you gave me this super limited piece or whatever."

[00:43:38]>> Yeah.

[00:43:38]>> And it became very often and very uncomfortable.

[00:43:44]And there were these expectations set and it's like, well, I knew you before Mischief Toys, therefore I deserve XYZ.

[00:43:51]And it's like, well, hold on, that's not how it works. Because if I gave someone the treatment that you're expecting, you would be upset with me because I'm not giving that treatment to you.

[00:44:05]>> Yeah.

[00:44:05]>> Right. But you're expecting it for yourself.

[00:44:09]So, the way that I like to run our business is, you know, there are times where someone will get handed something, you know, in in like spur of the moment like, oh man, I'm really bummed because I missed out on this and it's like, well, you know what? I overhear that I c I have the ability if I have whatever it is, maybe I can give somebody something.

[00:44:36]Maybe I can throw someone, you know, something extra at like a convention or whatever.

[00:44:43]>> Well, that's what it's all about to me.

[00:44:45]>> Yeah. I mean, I am so grateful for just the fact that people enjoy what you and I do.

[00:44:57]>> Yeah.

[00:44:57]>> And I can't do it all the time.

[00:44:59]>> God, this video really became about all of us, didn't it? It became about us.

[00:45:02]>> It did.

[00:45:03]>> But >> it's all mission toys all the time.

[00:45:06]It it's I feel like we can relate to things, right?

[00:45:10]>> Yeah.

[00:45:11]>> Um but the fact is I I think expecting things is not the right thing to do.

[00:45:21]>> You got to temper those expectations.

[00:45:22]I've said that a 100 times in this video. Yes.

[00:45:24]>> It's it's uncomfortable. It is.

[00:45:26]>> It's very uncomfortable for us. And it's also uncomfortable for companies like Thrill Joy, Funko, US to read comments about people, you know, people just saying shitty things and and there's a lot of that that's going around. You can't dodge it. It's going to happen no matter what. I guess if you're a fan of these things, you're a true fan. You really love these things. You love collecting it.

[00:45:44]>> Don't put them down.

[00:45:45]>> Just Yeah, there's no reason to put them down. And you might be saying, "Well, Chris, aren't you the trash guy?" Well, yeah, I am the trash guy. But a lot of what I've said and done in the past has been humor focused. I mean, I I try to be funny. Is it all does always hit the mark? Probably not. But that was always my thing. Used to be fun. Have fun. Be funny.

[00:46:03]>> And if it was a mistake, like you complaining about Fright Night in 2022, you own up to it and you're like, man, you know, I really shouldn't have said that because now I have a different perspective.

[00:46:17]>> I absolutely do own up to that. Yep. I do. I do. No, I do, Heather. And and you made a lot of very good points.
