Silver Linings

[00:00:05]Thinking about the state of America can put me in a funk these days. A lack of outrage, especially in Congress, over Trump's plan to use 1.8 billion of our dollars to pay off the traitors who attacked our democracy on January 6.

[00:00:20]That sent me into more of a funk than usual.

[00:00:23]When this happens, one good way out of it is to look for silver linings.

[00:00:29]I found one that I'm going to be holding on to for a while. If you bear with me for just a minute, I think you'll like where I'm going.

[00:00:38]See, there's a boatload of similarities between now and the early 1930s in America.

[00:00:46]There was isolationism, politicians who believed America didn't need allies or to be involved in world affairs.

[00:00:54]There was the business plot in which America's oligarchs set into motion a plan to overthrow a dulyeleed president and install authoritarian fascism.

[00:01:06]After Pearl Harbor, our isolationism turned into America being a world leader. And after retired Marine General and Medal of Honor recipient Smemedley Butler exposed the business plot, FDR was stronger than ever. and he gave us social security and unemployment benefits. We got the New Deal, an unprecedented power for workers as unions saw explosive growth.

[00:01:32]Well, unfortunately, just like we failed to hold accountable the traders of the Confederacy, we failed to hold accountable the traitors of the business plot. There were people like the DuPont family, JP Morgan and Prescott Bush, the father and grandfather of future presidents.

[00:01:51]And years later, we would fail to hold Nixon accountable for his crimes. Then not only failed to hold Trump accountable for January 6 and his many other crimes, we allowed him to regain power.

[00:02:07]I know what you're thinking. If there's a silver lining, let's hear it already.

[00:02:12]I'm almost there.

[00:02:14]While Trump and his family and everybody around him has been engaging in levels of corrupt corruption, excuse me, that are beyond comprehension.

[00:02:25]They've also been alienating the world.

[00:02:28]There's not a country on this planet that considers Trump or the people around him to be friends.

[00:02:35]If we do in 2028 what America's did in 1932, we'll overwhelmingly elect a government that can bring about great change for the people. And where FDR promised a chicken in every pot, we can find a leader that will give us a conviction in every boardroom, especially the Trump Organization.

[00:02:57]And because of how they're treating the rest of the world, well, there won't be anywhere on this planet they'll be able to flee prosecution.

[00:03:08]Yeah, that's my silver lining for today.
