Nutria Fest Is Absolutely Wild!

There's cooking competitions, there's throw nutria throwing competitions and we're going to go to this little pond here. The way this is going to kick off is at 3:00 a.m. we're going to head out, start hunting. So we have thermal and white light with lasers.

[00:01:13]As the day break happens and the sun comes up, we'll continue hunting until we just don't see any more nutria. The weigh-in is on Saturday.

[00:01:22]It's a couple hours away so if you're not there on time you you get disqualified. If I was a nutria, I would probably kiss your little nutria family goodbye tonight if you're if you're listening to this. They're invasive to this area. They shred up all the grass in the marshland. Mama nutria and papa nutria make lots of nutria.

[00:01:54]It's 2:35 on Friday. We are all up and at them. We're heading to the boat launch to get out to our hunting grounds. Everyone's really excited. I don't know how much people slept. I know I didn't sleep that much just thinking about today. It's a lot of work heading up to this point and we are excited to start day one of the Nutria Rodeo.

[00:02:21]>> [music] [music] [music] [singing] >> So, the situation we have here is that we've got this little body of water and this body of water, but they are different levels.

[00:03:14]So, we got to jump this this mini levee here so that we can get from one side to the other.

[00:03:24]This side of the levee Very impressive. I'm giving it a nine out of 10. If he didn't flip the boat over or do any back flips, that would have given him the final 10 out of 10. I'm not going to lie, coming back to this spot, lots of memories on this lake.

[00:03:47]There was a giant pile nutria just chucking off boat.

[00:03:54]I'm hoping to replicate that today.

[00:05:54]We're kind of midway through the nutria rodeo, and we are getting smoked.

[00:05:59]I would have to imagine the other teams are getting three to eight times more nutria than we are. I don't think we got our first kill till like 11:30.

[00:06:08]We're going to go back out. Maybe with a little luck we can make this uh competitive. But right now, as it stands, uh our best hope is for Will to throw a nutria as far as he can to take second place after I throw mine further.

[00:06:50]Mike spotted this uh sounder of pigs.

[00:06:53]Then I dropped another one, and then we got a another one that's down over here. So, yeah.

[00:06:58]Good start to the afternoon so far.

[00:07:00]Didn't have pigs on the on the agenda, but here we are.

[00:07:50]>> [music] >> All right, so you recall back at Dairy Queen, we were, you know, a little downtrodden. We had a rough morning, very little success.

[00:08:04]Uh we got some blizzards in our belly, some chicken fingers, came back out and did our best.

[00:08:10]>> were down in the first half of the day.

[00:08:12]It went very poorly.

[00:08:15]The boys were frustrated.

[00:08:18]Second half of the day, them nutria started coming out. Uh so we started shooting at them. We ended up getting, I don't know, probably 20-something. So tomorrow, we're actually going to go to the the rodeo, support the teams that that showed up. From what we saw on YouTube, the event looks fantastic. The organizers are really cool. In addition to the prize money, we donated silencers to the [music] top teams. So yeah, we'll go check it out and go have some fun tomorrow night.

So, that [music] wraps up Nutria Fest. I wasn't expecting as such a wild like crowd and event. My anticipation for what was going to happen was very [music] different. But, we had a lot of fun. Obviously, Will and I can't throw. Turned out throwing nutria is a little harder than I expected. Some dude in the line told me he's a third generation nutria thrower and he was bred to do this. So, how can you compete against that? But, we had fun. Most importantly, it's always fun to get out in the nature and kill things with silenced air cans and Zev rifles.

[00:11:04]So, that we checked that box.

[00:11:07]We also won a prize for $237.

[00:11:10]We're not exactly sure what it was for, but we got a check that's coming home to Salt Lake City, Utah. It's going to go up on the wall with much pride. Thanks to the organizers that let us participate and stoked for all the teams that won silenced air cans.
