[00:00:00]Africa's one of the greatest bodies of disease in the world. Yet, our voices are underrepresented in global genomic research. What if that change? Can move from being consumers of scientific breakthrough to becoming creators of solutions that transform health care for people. My name is Caroline Chicku, an oncology specialist and advocate. I believe genomics can redefine the future of health care in Africa. Imagine a continent where diseases are detected earlier, treatments are personalized, and prevention becomes more effective because health care is built around our unique genetic diversity. But, for this to happen, we need practical solutions.

[00:00:40]We need stronger collaborations between researchers, clinicians, policy makers, communities, and young advocates across Africa. We must build trust through education and community engagement. So, people will understand what genomics is and not something to fear, but a tool to save life. We need investment in African-led research, training opportunities for young scientists, accessible genomics technologies, and policies that protect ethical use of genetic information.

[00:01:08]We need implementation. Genomics must move from conferences and laboratories into routine health care practices across Africa. [music] And most importantly, we need African voices at the center of African health solutions. And here is a bold idea. As a health care professional and advocate, I believe the future of genomics in Africa is not only about science, but about its people. Africa should not only participate in genomics, Africa must lead it. Not as consumers of global innovations, but as the creators of solutions. The world needs to hear this.
