Kenya opposed the United States' proposal to establish an Ebola quarantine center in Kenya, arguing that the country lacks the healthcare infrastructure to safely handle the outbreak, as evidenced by the US government's own warning that it cannot handle the situation and Kenya's existing challenges with malaria, kidney failure treatment, and drug shortages.

GACHAGUA BREAKs SILENCE RESPONDs TO KASONGO OVER BRINGING EBOLA TO KENYA!Added:
the time.
>> Hi cousin.
>> Hi cousin.
Um I want to say that uh I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to attend this wonderful service to celebrate a great man of God.
Dr. Malawa.
Uh, yesterday I went to see Dr. Colono because I was away in the United Kingdom for a week and when I came back he was in Sakuru and you know now when things are very tough family stay together. So I had not seen my cousin for 10 days.
So I think we live like 4 km apart. So I took a evening walk on food to his house to go and find out how my cousin is doing. And after our discussion he asked me where are you going to church tomorrow. I told him I have not yet decided because I've been invited many places. I'm still thinking through. And then he said, uh, please come and accompany me to go and celebrate a great man, a man who has given distinguished service to God and to the church of Christ. And that is why I'm here to my cousin that this man is so great. We should have honored him by wearing a full suit and a tie.
So we me and we apologize because listening to the testimony here this is a great man and we honor him and bishop we agree that he is not retirement but transition and uh great things are ahead.
Listening is he may be transitting but his mental faculties are right.
I'm able to listen and make good judgment.
I've listened to Dr. Malawa and Akosawa in between the years.
So we wish you well and your family and as you transit continue serving the church, continue serving humanity.
It is the way the situation is. You know, difficult times call for difficult interventions.
People have been harassing me for the last 3 days. Riy G, you are the most truthful man south of Sahara, north of you always tell Kenyans what is happening.
done in a Kenya.
I have not spoken to that matter because I've actually been in shock. When I heard about it, I actually thought it is fake news. I thought is AI.
It has taken me time until my son who is a medical doctor, Dr. Keith came to see me yesterday morning and told me it is true.
The United States government has said their citizens having abolan should not step into their land because of the danger of any possible mishandling that can wipe the entire population of the United States of America.
Then the United States of America have said look for some country somewhere where we can take these people because we don't want them in our own who and to us that the country has been identified as to where people with Ebola can be taken for quarantine.
So that if something goes wrong, it doesn't go wrong in the United States.
It is Kenya.
>> We want to say this is wrong.
We have nothing against United States.
But we are also a responsible country.
If the US is saying this Ebola thing is so serious, we don't want our own citizens brought here because of the danger of any spread.
It cannot be that Kenya we are so good we are so magnanimous that we are willing to take the risk the United States is not willing to take. I want to say this is wrong and I want to agree with the high court of Kenya who have issued a conservatory order stopping the establishment of an Ebola center within the Republic of Kenya.
And my son was telling me, "Dad, I've come to tell you as a medical doctor for the first time, I'm very happy you are removed from office."
I asked him, "How come?" He said, "We felt humiliated. We felt treated badly, but today I'm happy you are not part of that government because this is a reckless government. Had you been deputy president and a decision is made to allow the establishment of an Ebola center in Kenya, I will be embarrassed as your son and as a medical doctor.
>> So I'm happy you are out of this government because you cannot be part of that recklessness of endangering an entire population.
I want with a lot of tremendous respect to the United States of America. The United States of America is the greatest largest democracy.
We admire their democracy and their observance of the rule of law and constitutionalism.
We learn from the United States. We are not yet there. We would like to be like the United States in matters democracy and the observance of the rule of law. I want to ask the United States of America since there is a court order stopping the establishment of that center in Kenya, show us a way in observing the rule of law. Don't join Kenya in disobeying a court order and practicing impunity.
You'll be you will be taking us back. We will be wondering whether you have two standards. one for America that is a democratic country that observes the rule of law, respects court order, but in Kenya you can join the Kenyan government in impunity to disregard a court order because I'm told despite the court order equipment are being brought to Nyuki and Dr. Colono what is worrisome is that members of the military who are not political our military is very disciplined is very professional they have looked for me and they are telling us speak for us we don't want that center in Yanuki air base because we also live there we are families anything can go wrong and we need to leave.
So the soldiers are very unhappy but they have no voice.
The people of Leipia Dr. Colonso have asked us to hold a meeting in Yanuki to give them opportunity for public participation so that they can express themselves so that the American government can know what the people of Lipia feel because any decision that can affect people's lives our constitution provides there must be public participation.
The people of Leipia were not consulted.
The people of Kenya were not consorted.
So I think in the course of the week we'll organize a big public meeting in Yanuki in Nikipia to give the residents of that county an opportunity to express themselves as to how they feel and the danger that they see.
I have just seen a report from the World Health Organization this morning saying that this Ebola outbreak that has come in DRC is the type that has no vaccine and you need 6 months to develop a vaccine.
That report is also saying that in case of spread 50% of those infected are not likely to make it. We cannot therefore endanger our country and we are saying we have no problem assisting other countries but we cannot assist them in what themselves are evading.
And we also asking a question has been asked by to me this morning.
If America that is known to have the best health care system in the world are not sure they can handle that outbreak.
What about Kenya where we unable to handle malaria?
What about Kenya where we have no equipment to deal with kidney failure?
What about Kenya where SHI is not working?
What about Kenya where there are no drugs? If America the way it is established, they have the best working health system in the world to an extent that medical equipment in America, even hospital beds and other equipment like MRI, scanners, they only keep them two years, they discard them, they get new equipment.
If they are that advanced and they lack confidence that they can handle that Ebola.
What about our country here?
is a reckless decision and the government must reconsider.
We cannot endanger the Kenyan population. We have too many problems.
Sh is not working.
We can live with all those problems.
