Projection is a psychological defense mechanism where individuals attribute their own unacceptable thoughts, feelings, or behaviors to others; in political arguments, when accusers make claims about a group while evidence shows the accusers themselves are engaging in those behaviors, the accusations reveal more about the accusers than the accused group.

What Projection Looks Like In Political Arguments本站添加:
There's a pattern in these arguments, and it has a name.
When someone accuses a group of something, and the evidence shows the accuser is doing that thing, it's called projection.
The claim that trans people are dangerous to children has been repeated for years.
Meanwhile, documented child exploitation has overwhelmingly occurred in the institutions making that claim.
Projection doesn't mean the accuser knows what they're doing, but the accusation ends up revealing more about them than about the group they're accusing.
Once you see the pattern, you can't unsee it.
Y'all be well, and I'll see you in the next one.
