I just can't Let me say this mate because Paul doesn't want to feel like a prick telling everybody but the reality is you're not going to have time to stop and have conversation as much as you would love to Yeah maybe another time mate we'll do a lap over a little bit longer period of time where we can where we can actually stop and chat to people which would be a wonderful thing but this this is they're going to be men on a mission.

I I don't trust me guys if if I was if I had the time to stop, I would stop and talk to you all. I'd get photos with you all and all that sort of stuff. That's another reason why I didn't go on the trip, mate. Because you know I've got the attention span of a gnat and I'd start talking to someone and next minute we're getting in at 2:00 in the morning. Yeah, and and to give you an idea >> Can't do that. Uh we'll we'll be we'll be leaving at, you know, 5:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m.

[00:04:12]Uh and then going through till 6:00, 7:00 that night. That's just it We're just going to go go go. Stop, get fuel, Keep going. Throw something in our throat, keep going.

[00:04:22]They'll be literally 10, 15 minute stops as we go. We're literally on the tightest schedule you can possibly imagine. Yeah.

[00:05:30]I got a phone call from uh some a a organizer of some bike events who was a little bit distraught. She was involved in organizing a an event down here in uh in Victoria on the southeastern side. You're getting angry already."

[00:05:48]All right. At the end of the day, what happened was they had it all planned and then it was supposed to happen on Saturday. On Thursday, someone from the council rolled up, handed a letter to the landowner who had generously donated his land for the event.

[00:06:03]>> Uh a farm, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And uh it basically said, "We've heard about your event. We've seen your event. You're not having your event.

[00:06:12]You don't have the right permits."

[00:06:15]Well, mate, did that not A charity event.

[00:06:18]>> event, by the way. Basically, what they were doing was trying to raise some funds for a a young woman who needs a medical procedure.

[00:06:26]>> Yep. All right. But, we won't No need to go into that event itself because what we want to discuss today is is the is the uh private biker event a thing of the past, mate? Have we been legislated out of existence?

[00:06:41]And, you know what? The deeper and deeper I've gone into it this week, and I'll tell you what, the response we had on our Facebook group chat, we've never had before.

[00:06:50]>> No. I mean, there's over 200 people have commented on it.

[00:06:53]>> Yep. And it's it's absolutely uh And look, I understand I'll I'll give you the background. So, we've got the um piece of paper. I think it's No, I've got it on here. Basically, it was a letter sent to us sent to them that was handed to them by the council and it basically said that under the building uh the building act of 1993. Basically, you have to have an occupancy permit for every premises. So, when you buy a house, an occupancy permit. Permit. And that says the sort of things that can can happen at that can happen at that place.

[00:07:33]So, basically, if you have a wedding at your place, that's a private event. But, if you're engaging in changing what would normally happen at that venue. So, say you're putting up a couple of marquees.

[00:07:51]So, you're selling raffle tickets.

[00:07:53]You've got a stage a temporary stage set up for a band.

[00:07:58]It now becomes under their Well, it depending on the council can be This is Casey Council, isn't it? This was.

[00:08:07]>> Yes. But, this this applies to every council in Victoria. Depends on which one and some don't care and some do apparently, which makes it even worse quite frankly.

[00:08:19]Um it makes it a place of public entertainment.

[00:08:23]So, you need a public permit.

[00:08:26]And basically, they looked at it and said, "You haven't applied for that permit."

[00:08:34]And they said, "Well, we've we've got a liquor license."

[00:08:36]>> Mhm.

[00:08:37]We've got a traffic management. We've all got we we Yeah, we we've got ways of getting people in and out. We're going to make sure there's proper egress and access in case an emergency service vehicle is needed. All that sort of thing.

[00:08:51]Everything was Not good enough. Not good enough. You haven't got a permit.

[00:08:56]If you don't close down that event, if you have that event, you are risking a fine of $48,000.

[00:09:07]Well, obviously the home owner the land owner said, "Look, I'd love to accommodate you guys, but you know, and no one can blame him. No one can blame him in that I mean, no one's got 48 grand to throw away.

[00:09:22]Yeah, and look, one of the things a lot of the people in the comments said, "Stuff them. Just do it privately."

[00:09:32]Our conversation here is why the hell should we have to and by the way, they were doing it privately because they didn't have the permit.

[00:09:40]>> Yeah. Yeah. So, they were technically, I suggest, going around the the system by saying it's a private event. But, the activity there doesn't matter what you call it. The activity there is defined as entertainment, and therefore, you need a this permit.

[00:10:00]>> Now, the the the other thing is, too, if you're doing a charity event, you obviously need people to go. Yes.

[00:10:05]>> There's no point you you can't not advertise it cuz if you don't advertise it, nobody turns up, you don't make any money for the charity.

[00:10:09]>> "Just, you know, just just do private invites to everybody." That's great if you want to get 50 or 100 people along, not if you want to get 300. 300 people along, and you want to actually make a difference.

[00:10:22]So, the question I we asked on the on the page was, "Is this government overreach, local council overreach, or are the council sort of basically protecting us from ourselves, which seems to be the entire world at the moment is about protecting us from ourselves, mate?

[00:10:39]It's lunacy. Look, honestly, >> and maybe I'm going to be the devil's advocate here.

[00:10:44]>> Yep. Okay, I'll be a devil's advocate, but before I start, I'll let you know I think this is all freaking insanity.

[00:10:50]Yep. But, what the council will tell you is we can't have, you know, traffic jams and stuff. Well, I don't think there would be on a thing. And at the end of the day, they're saying that this permit process, once you put it in, lets them know that all those things are covered.

[00:11:09]It's it's They don't think it's good enough to just go off your word that you've got it covered. You've actually got to inform them. And if you're going around the situation, uh uh you end up with the situation they ended up in, which is 24 hours before, when you've got probably 300 people coming to this event, it gets knocked on the head.

[00:11:30]So, this is a a cautionary tale for anyone that's looking at organizing an event like this to A, you got to get in early, you got to work out exactly what you need.

[00:11:40]And look, some of the some of the requirements to me are are madness.

[00:11:44]>> Honest to God. Look look look at that now. I've got So so they want they want a traffic management freaking uh Traffic management plan?

[00:11:50]>> Plan. They want a emergency services plan. They want to know what a a site plan of where any marquee stage is going to set up.

[00:11:58]>> Yeah. They want public liability insurance has got to be there. They want um a an indication where um fire extinguishers are to be placed in a prominent area.

[00:12:10]>> Enough toilets? Enough toilets to cater for that amount of people. Yeah.

[00:12:14]Um So, basically what they want to do that they want to turn adults into kindergarten kids and and say you have to do all these things, little boy, to make sure you do the right thing.

[00:12:22]>> the problem is, mate, is that they look at everything that has got entertainment in it. And and and and and and and and and and and and and make it you've got to have the same sort It's got the exact same requirements as if you're running a massive festival.

[00:12:37]>> Yeah. Yeah. And look, this is understandable from the point of view from if you're going to run something this big and commer- really commercial and charge entry fees and all that sort of >> understand all that. every week or once a month and you can go you'll go but for a small SMC >> Yeah.

[00:12:59]to look at it and go, "You know what?

[00:13:01]Look at all this we've got to do. And all we wanted to do was raise a couple of bucks for the to help this this >> Essentially what they're having is a is a is a birthday party. Well, well, that's that's the other thing, mate, is this Let's Let's change this around.

[00:13:13]We're now not going to have 300 people coming there to support an other Australian that needs a needs a bit of a you know, a hand.

[00:13:22]What you you could have is Let's have a a Let's have a wedding. Yeah. And invite 600 people. Yeah.

[00:13:30]Absolutely zero permit required.

[00:13:35]600 people on the exact same property put up a massive marquee.

[00:13:41]But it's a wedding. So it's a private event by private invitation.

[00:13:46]There is no So I can put up a circus tent for 600 people, but I can't put up three 10 by 10 marquees. Can't put up the Hog's Breath Cafe and Toowoomba Hog's Breath marquee, mate.

[00:13:55]Because quite frankly, that's so dangerous.

[00:13:59]It's it's there has to be a better way.

[00:14:02]And yeah, it should be like I think you and I were talking about it before.

[00:14:05]Okay, so put a limit of 300 people, right? Under 300 people all you a $50 permit. Two page pro forma or something. Yeah, yes we we've got all that in place that are but this business of asking people, you know, I mean we looked it up on chat GT chat GPT.

[00:14:24]There's a lot of people out there that wouldn't even know how to freaking use that and how to put stuff in and all that sort of stuff. So you're you're you're you're asking people to do something that they've never ever done before more than likely. Well, it just be it becomes time, cost and effort prohibitive to be able to do something good for the community.

[00:14:41]>> Well, as I said they they wanted to do a one-off event. It's not and this is the where it actually is doing the most harm I think is it will kill the one-off event. If you're going to run one big event every year, you go and and Bob from Geelong Harley-Davidson, he he he piped into the chat and he said, "Look, what is it's really not that difficult."

[00:15:04]After you've done it the first time basically.

[00:15:07]Well, for some people it is.

[00:15:10]I mean imagine saying to someone who's never had anything to do with that sort of thing we'll put together a traffic management plan.

[00:15:17]Well, there's a lot to a traffic management plan, you know. And you know, yeah, and all the other Yeah, yeah, yeah, and all that sort of thing if required. I mean, really, this guy's on it. The guy in in and I don't want to break down to this one event because what we're talking about here is, as I said, a cautionary tale for all clubs and all people that want to put up one of these. You got to look in advance as to what's what's required because it's no use just saying we'll do it quietly because these guys did the same as what most people would do.

[00:15:49]They go, "Oh, we'll run an event. Great. Fred's given us his farm. It's private property. We can basically do what we like there.

[00:15:56]Let's chuck a couple of flyers around.

[00:15:58]Uh put a Facebook post out.

[00:16:01]Um chuck it on Victorian Rally Runs and Events, which which I certainly did.

[00:16:06]Uh it looked like it was going to be a fantastic day.

[00:16:08]And it was all well and good until 48 hours before or 36 hours before and I had to cancel.

[00:16:18]So, it's the trying to do it.

[00:16:21]It's on the >> the dude the way a lot of people have said, which is just just screw it. [ __ ] it. Go and do it.

[00:16:26]>> Yeah. Well, yeah, [ __ ] it. Go and do it's fine until it's not fine.

[00:16:31]>> Until you're until you're standing in court trying to fight >> That's right. A $48,000 fine.

[00:16:35]Which, you know, which >> Which is probably is ludicrous in the first place to say.

[00:16:40]But what like you said, I mean, if you've got to have a permit, fair enough. Like a $50 permit, I mean, that's surely enough as a processing fee.

[00:16:51]Yep. Yep. Yep. It's all there. Being submit. There it is. Right? Everyone knows about [clears throat] it. You can send a copy off to the local coppers so that they know that it's there's an event on. Send a letter that the council can notify the RTA and that just in case.

[00:17:05]>> And and and this person Other than that, what else is needed? I really don't Like Like if there's not enough toilets, well, you know what? If I'm not comfortable at the place cuz there's no way to go and I'll go elsewhere and have a pee. [clears throat] You know, that just means I'll probably won't go back to that event cuz we don't got I'm not going there, right? You know? Yeah. Well, it's only one event anyway. Well, hey. It's only one event It's only one event anyway. Well, that's it.

[00:17:26]So, but you know, the thing is is every event seems to be treated like a massive festival. Yeah, and the other thing is, too, there's already laws and checks and balances in place for if it's too loud, >> Yes.

[00:17:42]>> Yeah. There's already, you know, road road rules have been in place. I mean, you can't obviously can't park in places you shouldn't be parking. So, that's already in place.

[00:17:53]>> it's commercial. Where is the Yet, I don't need a raffle permit for a smaller raffle. I mean, you look, we just gave away nearly three grand's worth of stuff last week.

[00:18:06]>> Yep. All right? We didn't legally, and I certainly looked into it, need require a permit for that as long as the prizes were under $10,000.

[00:18:22]How That seems to be having two bites of the cherry. It's either one or it's the other. So, that that would mean if you have an auction, too, to auction stuff off, that would have that You are absolutely out of control.

[00:18:38]You know, and so, basically, you have to get an occup you know, you occu- you have to get being what's name with your occupancy permit. And once you become a a pope Yeah. place of public entertainment, >> Yeah. and that's open to That's the other thing. It's open to uh what's the name you know, for anyone at the council if he's having a bad day to say, "Yep, that's definitely that."

[00:19:04]>> Oh, no. And and they've picked this because in their in their uh what's the name that they sent, they said, "Oh, we've seen that you're holding a raffle and you're having a band and you know there's going to be marquees.

[00:19:16]There was I think there was one 10 by 10 marquee for Christ's sake. It's what people put up down at Jells Park when they want to keep the sun off them when they're having a Barbie.

[00:19:26]>> Yeah. You know, but you've got to get a engineer's perm you know engineer's certificate for >> There was a thing you you have to engage a what's his name a building surveyor?

[00:19:35]>> Yeah, building surveyor. A what a load of freaking codswallop for a freaking Barbie? But the the thing for me mate about this is is where is this taking this country? Where have we got to that we're at such a stage where we're we're such a nanny state that we have to oversee everything we do. So I mean these sorts of events used to be the backbone of Australia. Yep. The absolute backbone of Australia. Someone in the community needs help, let's put together an event and and and help them. Yep. No more. Not without you know all this government I drives me mental. Yeah but but you know I think I rang you last Friday night now in in our local area the the Wyndham Council had a had a had a had a what's it called what they call Werribee lights or or something, right? Yeah. Where they put all lights in the trees and people walk through and now that would have that surely that would have had every planning place possible. Every planning possible.

[00:20:36]Right? So far so much for their traffic management plan. It was gridlock in Werribee. You couldn't get through took us freaking To be fair mate I've never been to Werribee and it's not been a gridlock.

[00:20:44]>> Yeah yeah mate it it But worse than that It it was ridiculous. You could not get down Watton Street, Synnot Street. There was people walking from everywhere. You like great idea for but mate it it seems to be there's one rule for one and one one rule for the other.

[00:21:06]There is one rule for one rule for the other. And and as I said though, the problem is is if you live over that side there in that council it's it's it's a no go. It's yes. And yet I had another bloke who's who who said it was Matt Yeah. who runs Buloke and said well I spoke to the council about our event and and let me tell you there couldn't be a a more loosey-goosey event private you know it's it's it's I won't go into it but but but the reality is great event but a whole lot more there would be a whole lot more public risk there because it's it's basically held on a country road >> Yeah. than in a private farm >> Yeah. and the council were fine down that way down Latrobe Valley were fine with you. Yeah. Yet here in this other council and there you actually want to you know help someone and have a bit of fun while you're doing it.

[00:21:59]>> And this is the problem mate you get a give an idiot a bit of authority >> Yeah. and all of a sudden they think they need to use it. Yeah. Right.

[00:22:05]Um and I mean you only got to go to the tip mate you go to the tip there's a bloke with a walkie-talkie [ __ ] hell he he is the most officious person in in Australia at that point in time. I got yelled at at the tip not that long ago mate cuz I'm throwing all these all the old paint things in.

[00:22:22]And they're all empty. Yeah. And one of them opened up and a little bit like 30 mil dribbled out.

I actually looked up I actually referred to chat GPT and said how come the youth of today aren't as rebellious as they were in the 60s, 70s, and 80s?

What happened to just letting people live their life? And you know what? If something [ __ ] up [ __ ] up, that's their problem.

You voluntarily walked into the You know, take some People should take or have not take responsi- They should be forced to have responsibility for their own actions. If you can't walk in a straight line without falling over, that's your problem. You know, it's like people say, "Oh, I tripped on a crack on the bloody sidewalk." Well, don't you look where you're walking?

[laughter] But here at this See, that's common sense out this. Providing a road that should be safe and everybody a reasonable person would expect that. A reasonable person would also expect that there might be some trees in the paddy.

I mean, I remember you know, talking about The problem is, mate, is it's one thing we think this. Yeah. And I think the majority of our viewers, a lot of our viewers who commented on the Facebook post think the exact same.

[00:25:11]But, there's a difference between what should be and what currently is.

[00:25:17]And then what is in that council's area is very little leeway by the sounds of it. Once you Yeah, they've got the books, they've got the rule book, and if the rule book says bang bang bang bang it is.

[00:25:30]>> Okay, so so >> And and don't worry about the the costs of it to uh My next My next question is is how how do we get around this?

[00:25:38]Because because we we can't like if you keep accepting little bits as you go along, it just gets worse and worse and worse. And it just seems that you know, it gets to the point where where people are just sick of arguing and fighting councils and and and governments and that about I mean You know, I've got to tell you about I think this is a lot of the reason why a lot of people are leaving Victoria. Yeah. Yeah, because of all these [ __ ] rules. And and you know, I've never felt it more as when I went over to the States a couple of times, mate. And and I looked and you're driving down the road and and and I just look over and here's this bloody dune buggy Yeah. beside me.

[00:26:17]Just leaving Sturt just one day, it was this dune buggy beside me with these two beautiful girls in it. And they're in this magnificent dune buggy which there is no way in hell that could be registered here.

[00:26:30]And just just just as I got blessed America again, she lifts up her top and shows [laughter] me I saw God that day.

[00:26:39]But, what I'm saying, their sense of freedom and a lot of people put [ __ ] on this, you know, different things about the United States, their gun laws and this and that and the other. But, reality is is they really value their their personal liberty.

It has to be close because I just feel like there's a damn wall, and if they keep doing this sort of [ __ ] people are just going to say, "You know what? That's it. That we It's all over. We're going to rip the freaking parliament apart, throw them out, and like self-govern or something."

[00:28:25]I don't know because it is just honestly I'm going to secede like like the old Hutt River Province. I think it was in South Australia somewhere, and the guy said, "Nah, this is now my own state, and I'm seceding from the union. No more I'm no longer part of Australia."

[00:28:40]>> But but it's but it's it's happening He issued his own passports.

[00:28:42]>> Yeah. It's happening up in the bush, too. I mean, you got the farmers at the moment stopping um um Well, that's just lunacy, isn't it? the the companies coming on board trying to put wind windmills and all sorts of stuff on.

[00:28:51]Force them to have windmills on it. It's it's their farm. If you're sticking a windmill where you go and buy some property and put it on.

[00:28:57]>> Yeah. Not mine. Yes. Cuz I don't I don't like them bloody things. And and no no that but they destroy the countryside. Anyway, that's It's another one but it's the same thing mate. It all comes down to overreach.

[00:29:11]Look, I understand where the council originally is it's it's all about safety and keeping every giving everybody a you don't want yeah the the giant next door suddenly opening up and the teenage kid while mom and dad are overseas for 6 months putting a band in the backyard every night of the week and charging 40 bucks entry.

[00:29:33]I understand that would be unacceptable.

[00:29:35]I wouldn't be happy having that happening next door. All right, but jeez if the kid wants to have a 21st birthday party next door, I'm not going to complain that it's noisy till 2:00 in the morning. Why? Because hey we all turn we all turn 21. We all made a bit of a racket.

Um and the kid hopefully is smart enough that before midnight he sort of takes it makes everybody go inside and closes the windows and and sort of somewhat muffles it cuz that's what you do when you live in a society. You take everybody into consideration but sometimes you've got to give people a little bit of leeway to have fun. Seems that councils have lost the leeway. Yeah. They've lost the to look at it and go having said that, the only thing the council had to go by in this event was the flyer. Yeah.

[00:30:24]Which told them all the things they needed to hear to make to deem it a place of enter a place of public entertainment.

[00:30:31]>> Yeah but once again, there's surely the council has some discretion to walk in and say guys what what's going on?

[00:30:37]What's actually happening? And oh this is what we're doing. Yeah well you can't really do that. What if we do this? And yeah, that should be fine, right? But, you know, I I I already know cuz I I get involved in some council things along the way as well. I already know what happens, right? So, somebody walked in and said, "We should get a permit system in for this sort of stuff." And a bloke would have gone, "Yeah, yeah, good idea." And then they take it to the lawyers and the lawyers go, "Well, hang on a minute. Th- This This could be a $5,000 bill for us or this could be a 50-grand bill if we write it up properly, right?" And they all go, "Well, you can Yeah, well, you got to cover yourself for this." "Oh, okay."

[00:31:11]"And you got to cover yourself" "Oh, okay." "B- But, we only just want a permit." "Yeah, but you're opening yourself up to all these problems."

[00:31:17]I mean, you can go to the nth degree of what can happen. What could possibly happen?

[00:31:24]>> Could possibly happen. You can't go through life operating with what could possibly happen. You wouldn't do anything. Again, mate, it's it's it's expecting that everybody's a dumb zebra. Yeah.

[00:31:35]It's treating everybody like a dumb zebra.

[00:31:37]>> Exactly. And you can't You can't do that.

[00:31:39]You know, this [ __ ] just wouldn't go down in other places, mate. And it's just I I worry for the the our lifestyle, mate. The the the biker lifestyle where you can go and and and they run events. And I mean, SMC, social motorcycle clubs, I mean, the heart of social motorcycle clubs is doing charity events.

[00:32:00]And it's just getting harder and harder to be able to put one on. And you And how do you know? It's simple. Look at how many there are.

[00:32:07]There used to be a a big rally or I mean, jeez, back in the um 70s and 80s, you had Broadford, Pondi, um all sorts of massive Yeah. Somerville. I I I I tell you what, >> Somerville was a big I I I bet you when buddy Broadford was on, mate, there weren't any uh C- Council inspectors? Yeah, the Council inspectors didn't knock on the door of the place at Somerville. [laughter] And yeah, at Broadford, mate, you can go uh Uh you're not allowed You've got to turn the music down, first.

[00:32:39]>> [laughter] >> It's funny, isn't it, how that doesn't happen?

[00:32:43]You know? But, uh it's it's just to me, this this whole subject has brought up a can of worms, because we're forever seeing I mean, I could mention so many functions that are being run now, not only here in Melbourne, but in South Australia and New South Wales, Queensland. Yeah.

[00:33:02]But, if this was applied to them, it'd be the death of them, wouldn't it?

[00:33:07]Yeah.

[00:33:07]And yeah, this I was I was talking to someone the other day about a a bike I think it was Chopper I was talking about an event in uh New South Wales that had been going for something like 30 years.

[00:33:18]And basically, council changed and council said, "Well, you've got to now do this. You've got to now do And over a period of about 4 years, they just eventually went, "You know what? It's just too hard. Yep. It's just too You you keep changing the rules, for a start.

[00:33:36]You've made it, you know, almost impossible for some people to do. And and as I said, my biggest fear is for the one-off event. Yep. Because the one-off event is the one where it's just people like you and me, but at the end of the day, just go, "Oh, let's give it a crack. Yeah.

[00:33:53]Let's see what's involved." And after about 30 seconds on chat GP, you go, "What's involved in running a uh Well, I think that happened to >> And and everybody will just go, "Yeah, nah. Grab another beer, and let's continue to I think that's what happened with the Geelong Toy Run. Yeah. I think I think I think I had something to do with Well, they wanted too many tick checks and balances to be done.

[00:34:14]Yes.

[00:34:16]You know? I mean, Well, even even Danny's ride, they started to bring that [ __ ] in. You got to do this, you know, you can't do this, and you can't do that, and you have to have to make sure Yeah, with when he tried to donate the to um Well, yeah, he he wasn't even allowed to donate with that, but now he he's got to come from I don't know.

[00:34:32]Yeah, when he tried to raffle the raffle the bloody bike off, remember? Oh, no, you're not allowed to do that because you it What? I just mate, do you want the money or not?

[00:34:39]>> Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's what that ended up being. But in this in these cases, it just concerns me because, you know, the the wording behind it is uh it it is the thing cuz it looks Here it goes. It break it down to exact sections relevant.

[00:34:56]So, where the building actually comes in is uh where are we? Right sections. Okay, a building must have an occupancy permit stating and it must include whether it's approved as a public entertainment venue.

[00:35:11]So, if if it's not you use the building in the way that it normally does, then it's breaching the permit.

[00:35:20]You know. Yeah. So, and building orders, they can enforce the event to be shut down, the removal of structures, and safety fixes.

[00:35:28]Well, that's going to be a wonderful day out, isn't it? On a on a Saturday. Everybody's there and uh you know.

[00:35:36]Mr. Charlie Hunt walks on >> [laughter] >> and says uh yeah, that I'll have to take that one down and uh get rid of that stage and uh you can't do that and you can't do Oh, it's going to be a wonderful day out. Everybody's going to be so excited to come back.

[00:35:51]Absolute madness, mate. Yeah, even I think you were saying, too, even if you were having an event at like a a pub even that can be affected. Well, yeah, well, cuz I looked at that and I looked at the same What would be the ways if we if we decided to run that same event, but go to a local community hotel, maybe, or a and you'd say, well, that's easy because they're already a place of public entertainment. Fantastic.

[00:36:18]They're already licensed. Great. And anything that happens on that property will fall under their insurance. No.

[00:36:27]Because if you were if you were charging entry to the bike part of it, even if it was contained within the hotel in one section. So, say you're looking at holding it at the back of a pub, similar to Newbie Chopper that we went to.

[00:36:40]>> Yeah.

[00:36:41]Well, you would need your own insurance for that because it's a non-event that's normally held there.

[00:36:46]And you would need a traffic management plan because you'd be expecting more people there than would normally be there on a Saturday over.

[00:36:54]And that's just those two little things.

[00:36:56]And And they'll still want to know how many tools and all. But most of that's covered within the venue. So, it would be a whole lot easier to do this working with a pub.

[00:37:07]But you're not going to You can't then get your own liquor license because once you start selling the liquor yourself, which the pub's probably not going to ask let you do anyway, but even if you could, then you've got to start doing things like have responsible service of alcohol. You've got to have, you know, all sorts of things. A liquor license, all that sort of thing. So, it It's just making it so difficult to do. Now, I'd love us to be able to run a bike event, mate.

[00:37:36]And we could probably do it cuz I've got the time to sit down and do all this crap and go through it.

[00:37:41]But the reality is, as I said, it would be it would be a a fairly big commitment to get all the stuff together for for something like this. And I'd be interested to know what everybody thinks. And as I said, don't bother putting in the comments this, "From just do it." Well, that's great, as I said earlier, you know, we all Our first instinct is say, "Tell them to get stuffed."

[00:38:08]>> Yeah.

[00:38:09]But the reality of the situation is is it's all right to tell them to get stuffed until it's you that they're handing that $48,000 >> [clears throat] >> fine to. And And when they put that in front of you and say, "If you hold this event on the Saturday, it's it's uh it's your wallet I'm going for, not all the people that were coming that you were bringing in to entertain." And no one no one could actually say a bad word against that that that farmer, mate, because he he he was gutted.

[00:38:38]Yeah, and So, where does this leave uh biker events or footy club events or car club events or any club? Yeah. Or any community group that decides to run something like this. It just means you've got to run it you've got to plan it months in advance.

[00:38:57]You can't just do it on over three or four weeks. You need to put plan this months in advance. You then have to do your research. You then have to go and see the council and go, "This is Here's a list of things I think I need um before I start putting them together, Mr. Councilman, is there anything else?"

[00:39:14]And then he'll hand you another list.

[00:39:16]So, you now got two lists.

[00:39:18]And then you got to go away and start organizing all of that.

[00:39:24]It's I don't know. I I you know what? And then it depends on the bloke of the council.

[00:39:29]Of course it does. Yeah. Because these things are subjective. Yeah. If he's a turd, then you got to you got to you got to what rule clock up on your head. If he's a good bloke, don't worry about it.

[00:39:38]Just go ahead. Yeah. That's where it's it's >> the things that uh the advice that I was given is you never say you're running a bike show. Yep.

[00:39:46]It's a static vehicular display.

[00:39:49]Right.

[00:39:51]Cuz bike show has all sorts of connotations of >> Yeah.

[00:39:55]bikies and bikers nasty leather-clad horrible people.

[00:40:01]Whereas a static bike show could be a Rolls-Royce in a paddock.

[00:40:05]>> Yeah. Yeah. A little bit more upmarket.

[00:40:09]Things like that. Anyway. Again, I don't know, mate. I don't know what the answer is.

[00:40:14]I do know what the rules are now or or I know that there were a lot more rules than I ever thought there was. And my advice to any social motorcycle club or group that's planning on having one of these events, so that the same doesn't happen to you that the day before that you shut down, you really have a good think about it and have a look at what's involved because there is a lot of to to do it so-called legally, there is an awful lot involved.

[00:40:45]Made us >> And and no one wants to have to turn around to all their people that they've been geeing up. And you know what? The thing is, that community where that was going to be held were were absolutely for it. Yeah, I bought it up.

[00:40:57]>> community were pumped that they were having this fantastic event that was going to put them on the map. And they were looking forward to not only, you know, maybe we could do something further if this is as good as it sounds.

[00:41:09]No.

[00:41:10]So, where is I mean, to me, personally, I think every council should be disbanded. I think it's one level of government we don't need. But, uh their job is supposed to be there to make our life better. Yep. And then Not to make one winging Karen better at life better. I mean, everybody's life better.

[00:41:30]And uh it seems to be failing us on this occasion. Yes.

[00:41:34]More often than not.

[00:41:36]Well, that's that subject.

[00:44:59]Touran mate, this place is getting insane, isn't it? There it is. It's magnificent. Last week there was 500 bikes. This week there's probably I don't know, 300 or something. Absolutely fantastic. Now the reason I pulled James aside is this beautiful 2012 Road King mate. Tell us a little bit about it. Um yeah, like it's a 2012.

[00:45:18]I've had it for about 3 years. 3 3 4 years. Yeah.

[00:45:23]Got some modifications to it.

[00:45:26]And just subtle modifications. A lot of it's cosmetic. And yeah, I love it. It's just a it's a great bike and Mate, the reason it stood out to me is not only but it's so clean and and I've got to get your details of how you polish this chrome mate cuz your chrome is absolutely beautiful.

[00:45:44]But it's everything sort of original but it's clean as man.

[00:45:50]Absolutely beautiful. Well mate, how long you had it?

[00:45:54]Uh like I said, I've had it for about 3 to 4 years and yeah, this is a keeper. I'm not going to get rid of it.

[00:46:01]We've all got one that's a keeper. Yeah, well I'm I'm just not happy with the new ones that are out now. There's nothing really appeals to me and I've had Street Glides, I've had So, this is the 103? Yeah, this is a 103 and yeah, it's just a you know, it's a great bike and you know, you cruise around town in it, you can go out on the highway on it and just have a great time. So, >> Well, this is the thing about touring here is today we've got a 1940 jet, we've got an old Indian which is an absolutely beautiful condition and you're but yours just came to drag my eye in, mate. So, you're our first bike of the week and it's absolutely gorgeous. So, thanks for showing it to us.

[00:51:25]Now, the other day I was down at Toodyay and we got a beautiful 1912 [ __ ] Mhm.

[00:51:37]But sitting on this 1912 [ __ ] was a brand new bloody Shoei, I think, full face helmet from 2026 >> [laughter] >> with the guy's jacket flung over the seat.

[00:56:18]I had to do a bit of fine tuning on it when I got it.

[00:56:21]It wasn't running well and the front end was a disaster. Yeah. Well, after five goes off on the front end Five? Five times the leak come out. I've got it somewhere near where I want it.

[00:56:32]Yeah. Um, beautiful bike. Right. Yeah, it's doing 50 mile an hour.

[00:56:38]But um, yeah.

[00:56:39]Well, mate. It's an absolutely stunning bike. What what are some of the features you'd say of it?

[00:56:45]The features, well, I mean it's outstanding because of the look of it with those guards and and this this design engine. A lot of people haven't seen the four cylinder Yeah. Indians.

[00:56:55]Uh, I've got a few V-twins, which are great bikes, but I've always wanted a four cylinder. And uh What years were they made between? Uh, well, I know the last one was '41 and I know it was early '30, '30 or yeah, '29, '30 was about when they first come out. Yeah.

[00:57:12]Cuz most people when they see an Indian, they're expecting a V-twin, obviously.

[00:57:16]>> Yeah, that's right. But you know, I was I was actually standing here listening to a couple of blokes earlier and they go It's supposed to be an Indian.

[00:57:24]Yeah. It's not an Indian motor. No, it sounds like a grey Fergie. Yeah. But quite nice to ride as far as the sound.

[00:57:31]Like you you don't hear it much at all.

[00:57:33]It's pretty good like that. Well, mate, it's absolutely it is absolutely in pristine condition.

[00:57:40]Yeah. And it's it's as I said, it's one of the standout, certainly one of the biggest standout here today. Yeah. And a lovely bike. Thank you for showing it to us.

And a couple of days later, where am I? At another bike show, filming for that Harley couple and mate, there's this bloke with his beautiful, beautiful Indian beach twin, and I said, "Oh, mate, your bike's lovely." He says, "Oh, Waddy, it's you again." And I realized, "Oh, crap, it was Phil." I said, "How many bikes have you got?" And we got into a discussion, and we might be going to see Phil at some stage, mate.

There's going to be free camping there if you want to camp for the weekend and it's walking distance to the bike show and pubs. Well that seems all right to me.

[01:04:52]>> Yes. I might have to look at where Grenfell is personally. Uh all right South Australia we have the Switchback Riders have their 2026 annual charity ride on the 30th of May.

[01:05:03]Uh they've got a all sorts of things going on there and it's uh they're going to have a after party at a place It's Travelers Rest with a band called Code Blue. So, it's uh free entry for registered players or $10 uh for the rest of the public. So, uh >> Oh, I think Quorn. In Quorn? Yes. We'll be going through Quorn later this year.

[01:06:17]Uh yeah. So, Albury riders meet at Blind Freddie's Cafe at 9:00 a.m. to depart at 9:30 from from Yackandandah. And the Bright and Milawa riders will meet at the Happy Valley Hotel at 9:00 a.m. for a 9:30 >> Ovens? a.m. Wangaratta? That's in Ovens.

[01:06:34]And the Wangaratta riders will meet at the APCO at 9:00 a.m.

[01:06:39]And depart for Yackandandah. So, they're all going to basically descend on Yackandandah, mate.
