‘King Is Stepping Into DIPLOMATIC Role’ | Charles To Reset Relationship With TrumpAdded:
Overnight the king of course Kinsey with Queen Camila landed at the Andrews air base taken to the White House afternoon tea looked very strange in America. Uh and today uh we'll speak to Congress the first person from Britain to do that since monarch since his late mother of course where he's going to extol the virtues of maintaining the special relationship even when we disagree.
>> Yeah. And can I just say duh. I mean, I had to do I did TV all over the world yesterday. And Ingred Seart, I'll just call her out, was on TV saying, "I think he I don't think he'll bother talking about the special relationship. I think he'll focus on Ukraine." Why would he focus on Ukraine when that would give Harry and his weird uh like mental breakdown Ukraine speech any sort of credibility whatsoever? No, he's going to talk about the special relationship.
Of course, he's going to talk about the special relationship because the special relationship is in jeopardy. And and what unites our countries is, if you want to define the special relationship, it's military, it's economic, it's political, it's cultural, and you know, the the two countries are each other's closest defense partners. Yes, he has to get up there and he has to address Congress uh Congress about the special relationship because unfortunately Kier Starmer and Donald Trump haven't been playing nice and here comes you know King Charles in to keep the peace.
>> I I I completely agree and let's call it out for what it is. Starmer pandering to certain elements of his party. Uh I supported him not going on those sorts.
if I'm being honest, but I don't support him being petty and ridiculous. Charlie, you'd agree about the air bases. Thought that was ridiculous. Donald Trump, lot of time for him. Certain things infuriate me. Dare you insult the British soldiers that lost their lives in Afghanistan, mate. Don't even damn well go there. So, right and wrong on both sides. But the special relationship kins we know will endure two personalities because it goes much deeper than that. Um, he's going to talk about the assassination attempt. He's going to stick up for the British Navy.
We've only got one ship of which Trump described them as toys. I don't disagree with him on that either. But but I I want to make the point as I made yesterday, Kinsey, because you and I are both royalists through and through.
Don't know about Charlie. This is uh a window that shows the absolute importance of the British royal family when it works. It is completely without I I don't think anything gets close to it when it works as Charles and Camila are working right now in Washington DC.
>> Yeah. I I this is not ceremonial um as some have described it here in the United States. I mean, I do think that there is a lack of information when it comes to US media about how strained our country's relationships are right now because there are some that are coming at this as like a big birthday party for America and Winnie the Pooh is going to be there and so if we Donald Trump, but it is strategic and and behind those smiles and those glossy pictures of President Trump and the first lady and the king and queen, um there were real concerns concerns about security a especially after the White House correspondence dinner. But more importantly, the trip is about stabilizing a relationship that's under strain and the king is stepping into this diplomatic role whether it's acknowledged publicly or not. And and he has that that magic touch. He has something politicians don't have a longstanding personal relationship with the president and the first lady. He's been pen pals with both for years. Um, which I think is really unique. And he's not going to try to negotiate policy, but he can soften tensions between your prime minister and my president. And that's >> my prime minister. My prime minister, don't even go there, Scoffield.
>> Wait, I should say except not wake Not what? Wake up. Wake up Britain's prime minister. alarm clock Britain's certainly not alarm clock Britain's prime minister um but the UK's prime minister and uh yeah his value is is that quiet diplomacy and that's what we're seeing play out >> um just very quickly um after the assassination attempt uh at the White House correspondents dinner and also this trip does that strengthen the doubters behind Donald Trump >> no >> no love him or love him or him no middle ground. No.
>> Look at Jimmy. Look at Jimmy Kimmel who made another inappropriate joke on his program, cutting to a shot of Melania Trump saying she looked like a morning widow. And when Melania made a very rare statement saying, "I think he should have his show cancelled." And everybody's saying, "Oh, this is this is so unique. Presidents never do that."
Actually, Barack and Michelle Obama had Roseanne can removed from her own show named after her. So, it it has happened before. Jimmy Kimmel has the nerve to go on his program and similar to the Charlie Kirk situation, blame MAGA for the the the violent rhetoric that came out of his mouth. So, no, if you don't like Trump, you don't like Trump. If you can stand Trump, everything's normal.
Um, I think he's he's a polarizing character, but I'd also argue that that the king is a polarizing character to some people, too. Not to the extent that Donald Trump is, but I think, you know, they're similar in that way.
>> Uh, Kins, listen. I'm so sorry we keep waking up at 4:30 in the morning, but get to bed early tonight because we'll have you on again tomorrow. We appreciate it so much. Day two of the King and Queens trip to Washington. He will address Congress. We'll bring you that tomorrow.
