Redistricting maps significantly impact political power distribution, and strategic map drawing can determine electoral outcomes; when states like Alabama, Louisiana, and South Carolina have opportunities to redraw congressional districts, political parties must capitalize on these chances to maximize their representation, as failing to do so can result in losing potential seats that could shift the balance of power in the House of Representatives.

Southern States Draw MORE RED Seats After SCOTUS Ruling!Added:
Hello everybody and welcome back to Red Eagle Politics. Make sure you guys like this video down below and subscribe to the channel if you are new. So I think it's important to touch base on what's going on with redistricting in the redistricting war. Give a little bit of an update because for those who don't know, Virginia had a referendum that was too close to the deadline. The wording was iffy. The state supreme court actually struck it down. Democrats were furious. It was hilarious. So, it was all for nothing. And on top of that, you also have Louisiana have that court case about the Voting Rights Act section two and the future of that where they mandate these ridiculously drawn districts so they can add another Democrat district basically because black people live there or something along those lines. And you don't get the call the other way. It's a racist provision. you have this like ridiculous overcorrection phenomenon going on for um you know the pre-1965 era that has just been weaponized against the right in this country and that's coming to an end under this administration with the whole you know getting rid of DEI thing but also some of these Supreme Court rulings even though the court a couple years ago was responsible for this I'm not sure what's changed but uh it's good thing that Brett Kavanaaugh has now come on board to making sure that we can just draw districts, not by race. At least don't mandate that districts get drawn by race in this country. So regardless, when you look at the map, Republicans already before this ruling, before these states possibly have started to redraw with the exception of Tennessee, but Republicans already were at 209. And Republicans should be looking at this and saying we got to drive up that total as high as we can realistically get. So we're able to go out there and make sure in the states where we still can redraw to be able to go out there and win the House because the Democrats, a lot of their primaries are already ongoing or they can't feasibly redraw. You have Maryland for example, the Supreme Court there, it's been packed by Larry Hogan. They can't do anything there. And then like other states would have to get rid of these like commissions that they have that it would just take a while to get on the ballot. So maybe before 2028, but Republicans can even go harder in Texas and Florida. So it's going to cancel out. We'll do a video on the endgame of the redistricting war, especially into the 2030s. But in the meantime, let's go over the recent updates that are taking place in the deep south. But first, got to tell you guys about our very good friends over at Cove Pure. You may have seen this. Researchers have been documenting male fish developing female characteristics in rivers all across the United States. It comes from birth control pills that wastewater treatment plants can't fully filter out. And it's in the same water that runs into your home. I say no thanks, which is why I use Cove Pure to purify my water. So, here's how it actually works. When people take medication, their bodies don't absorb all of it. The rest gets flushed, goes through wastewater treatment, and those plants were never built to catch pharmaceutical compounds.
So estrone from birth control pills, antibiotics, anti-depressants, they come right back to your tap. And your standard pitcher filter from the store isn't going to cut it here. These compounds are too small, too persistent.
You need something that can filter things out at a molecular level. And that's exactly what Cove Pure is. Their clear wave reverse osmosis technology is certified to remove up to 99% of contaminants. Estrone, fluoride, PFAS, lead arsenic. Basically, anything that isn't water gets filtered out and it tastes great. It's easy to set up. You get instant hot or cold water. It's got a sleek design, removable pitcher, you name it. Now, those fish didn't have a choice about what was in their water, but you guys do. So go to coofpure.com/redeagle and right now you can save up to $250 off. That's kofpure.com/redeagle.
All right guys, back to the video. So Republicans knocking on the door and once again in some cases dropping the ball in other cases at least trying to move the ball down the field. Maybe not by enough. That's typical Republican behavior it seems. They always have an opportunity. they find a way to fumble it for principle or whatever. But Alabama is at least trying to draw a cleaner map than the one they have now that would get Republicans an additional seat. I don't know if they're waiting for the midterms to go to seven to nothing or what the deal is there. They don't want another premature lawsuit that could like complicate things or whatever or reinstate a certain precedent regarding the VRA or whatnot.
So Alabama, uh, when it comes down to it, you have a district there that is likely going to flip into the Republican column. So the Democrat there is going to lose. Now, that state is not really the main issue here. There's another state that is. Now, I'm not talking about Louisiana specifically, although they're getting on my nerves, too, because they still want to draw districts based on protecting their friends, protecting the incumbents. You shouldn't be able to do that. If you're going to draw a map that has a wonky district in it and looks like it's gerrymander when it doesn't even need to be. You could just go for six to nothing. You have the room and they decide no, we're not going to do that.
In fact, they're even entertaining the possibility of like a lean Democrat seat. Although, to be fair, that map was submitted by a Democrat and the fifth district would be a massive dummy mander the way that part of Louisiana has moved in recent elections. And given how low black turnout typically is in midterm years, well, I don't even know if that would even hold this year for the record uh when it comes down to that district.
But like you have this one right here where it's like the sixth district encompasses Baton Rouge and then part of New Orleans but not all of it. And it's like if you're going to cut up New Orleans, why leave a blue district when you don't have to? It's ridiculous malpractice on behalf of these people.
Now again, if you want a blue vote sync there for now and then maybe revisit it later, that would be one thing. But what makes me mad is you're drawing salamander districts when you don't have to draw salamander districts because in a fair compact map in the state of Louisiana, the Democrats get a district in New Orleans anyways that doesn't look like some sort of I don't even know what that thing is over there. It's ridiculous. Like at least this map makes more sense and that the blue district is a bit lighter. So maybe that proposal would be more ideal in the meantime, but some of these other proposals, it's like if you're going to cut the state up like that, you could do it far more cleanly and on top of it, you could have more red seats or in this case just one more red seat. But regardless, Louisiana getting that district um would essentially make sure that Republicans are at 211. So Mississippi, it's likely too late to do anything there. they're probably not going to want to go through the whole primary process again. Okay, whatever. So long as they move before 2028, uh then that would be good. In fact, the Supreme Court case, it's not their fault the timing was off. And it's actually shocking we're able to move now in these states compared to later, which is a big gift to Republicans and a big boost for their chances in the meantime.
But South Carolina, that one is brutal because you have a clear opportunity to draw out a prominent Democrat in Jim Clyurn in the state and just make the map far more compact in a way where Republicans would have every seat. You know, they don't want to do that for some reason. You have this guy Shane Massie. Massie, coincidence? I don't know. um spelled differently, but the same bizarre obstructionism. When you have the ball at the one yard line in your hand and you choose to just throw it out of bounds like a lunatic, that's what this guy wants to do. And on top of it, now he's completely going insane. This guy's the Senate majority leader, by the way.
Like, this is why people need to vote in primaries. I hope he loses his primary after this. He should. Saying at best, you're going to get 6-1. You may even go 52. I don't want to go 52.
What are you dumb? The current map is 6 to1.
How are you going to redraw it and make it 52? Again, you can draw a compact map that's 7 to 0 where there'd be zero shot a Democrat is going to even get within like 10 to 15 points even in a bad year.
Like that's just how good geography tends to be for Republicans in South Carolina. like there might be a seat that could be like lean Republican, but that's going to happen anyways. And there's a lot more of a chance you win that district than you hand the seat directly to the Democrats and keep Clyburn in there. It's like this is the uni party by definition. It's just people that are too afraid afraid to step on each other's backs and it's always the Democrats who benefit from this because they still don't care.
they'll still draw you out. Um or they'll just draw out the supposedly like most quote unquote based people or whatever. Uh but for the Republicans, they won't even draw out Jim Klyurn who is a major power player on the Democrat side because I don't know, you said hi to him once or something. These people are weak. These people are spineless.
These people are cowards. They need to go because what they are doing here is they're possibly talk about handing you want to talk about handing the gavl over to Hakee Jeff. Well, boom, there you go.
That's a seat you could easily take that you're not taking. Alabama could try to go for more. Uh Louisiana could try to go for another. And if Republicans did their job in Ohio where you wouldn't leave this seat open because you like the person or you would, you know, try to make Cincinnati a bit bluer because you're still not winning that seat that's, you know, tilt blue, but also push it up where you would be able to um be in a stronger position in captor's seat. And then even if you drew out a single Democrat in the state of Indiana, you're at 217. And if they were able to just get the the other one there, boom, it would be over. That's 218 or even if you want to say 217, you would still be able to go out there and win one of those toss up seats and you're just deciding not to. It's pathetic behavior on behalf of these people. I don't know why they don't learn, but like we saw in the state of Indiana earlier in the month of May, the base does not have any more patience for these losers. And I'm very glad that they don't because if you want to win as a party, you look at the other side and what they've done and what they're doing. You look at Illinois, you look at Oregon, you look at Washington, you look at, uh, California, you look at what Virginia tried to do. You look at New York and what they tried to do and what they eventually did, um, which was a little bit more of a legal friendly version of what they tried to do at the onset of the decade. You look at the entirety of New England. You look at Maryland. These people don't care about compact fair maps. New Mexico, even Nevada, although that one could be a dummy mander.
There's plenty of examples where the Democrats have just gone out of their way to draw seats where they don't belong. The lawsuits in Alabama and Louisiana done by the Democrats. That's part of it. Even though it doesn't make any sense, even by the logic of the VRA to put seats in those places. And of course, the Republicans on the court, even the ones Trump appointed, caved.
Now, thankfully, they were able to redeem themselves, but it's like, you know how the left operates, and then the right like has some weird version of political Stockholm syndrome, and they need to just stop losing. And I look, we've gotten a hell of a lot better at not losing, but we still have a little bit of a ways to go. And it's a process, and we will continue to win, and that's the way things go. But it's annoying.
You have to deal with these people in the meantime. But it's like you could have made them have to run the entire table um to win the house in a supposed blue year and you dropped the ball. So now you got to fight for it. Doesn't mean the house is lost, but it's a little embarrassing. So anyways guys, thanks for watching this video. Like this video down below. Comment down below.
