The welfare state inherently creates conditions for fraud because distributing billions of dollars based on need inevitably leads to deception, and the claim that fraud is primarily an immigration issue is a deliberate rhetorical strategy to demonize immigrants rather than address systemic problems; immigrants actually contribute more to the economy than they receive, with studies showing they reduce US deficits by paying more into the system than they take out.

Stephen Miller Goes Too Far: JD Vance's Uncomfortable SilenceAdded:
Fraud is a you know, a a powerful thing.
Everybody's against fraud. Nobody's for fraud. So, they keep coming back to the issue of fraud. It's all about fraud.
And of course, we'll talk in a minute about who commits fraud, but I want to show you Stephen Miller talking about this issue of fraud yesterday. And by the way, as you watch this video, those of you who can watch the video versus those who just listen, uh watch J.D. Vance's face. He's sitting next to Miller as he talks about this.
In a sense, even J.D. Vance is not buying this crap.
Here's um here's Miller.
>> not abiding by our laws, and the amount that has been fleeced from us is in the hundreds of billions of dollars. I believe, based on what I've seen and what I've heard, is that we could balance the federal budget if the only dollars that went out of the Treasury went to individuals who were properly, lawfully, correctly eligible to receive them. And that ultimately is going to be what we have to do as a country. In the meantime, because of the Vice President's leadership, you are seeing the most muscular, robust, aggressive, dedicated, determined, and speedy effort to shut down criminal fraud that is not only ever occurred in the history of this country, but in any developed nation. So, thank you.
So, um yeah. I mean, if we just made sure that the individuals who received government stuff were were you know, it was properly, lawfully, correctly eligible and they were all eligible to receive it, then you could balance the federal budget.
I mean, that is What's the technical term for that?
That is complete and utter BS.
And you look at J.D. Vance next to him. He's like, what the hell is he talking about?
He's got this look on his face. It's like, what?
>> [laughter] >> And this is J.D. Vance, and he's getting a compliment here.
I mean who buys into this garbage?
This is the same rhetoric we heard from Dodge and it's clearly wrong.
It clearly doesn't work.
It's clearly delusional.
And yet they repeat it and repeat it and repeat it and go over and over and over again.
I mean they again learned from the left.
If you repeat a lie over and over and over again people will believe it.
People will buy into it.
And it's and hidden in this message by the way is the idea that really the people getting the benefits. Now remember the biggest expenditure of the federal government is social security.
And short behind that is interest on the debt and Medicare and defense.
Now defense is not about you know, I don't know individuals defaulting the government.
Medicare is but how much do you realistically think you can cut from Medicare because of fraud? I don't know. Let's be generous. 25%?
Does that cut the deficit?
Deficit is $2 trillion so maybe maybe Medicare is a trillion. I think it's I think it's less.
You say $250 million.
$250 you know, billion dollars. That's a lot of money. It's not $2 trillion.
Social security?
How much fraud is there really in social security? Very little.
I mean the reality is that that Dodge scrubbed that database. They really went after it. Indeed.
Social security there's actually a reversal.
>> [clears throat] >> Illegal immigrants pay into and and illegal immigrants pay into the social security system.
They pay uh social security taxes and payroll taxes, Medicare taxes.
And yet they withdraw nothing.
Cuz they're not legal, they're not eligible.
And just to give you a sense of of how, you know, how this is managed. So, I I've I you know, I'm 65, so I'm I'm you know, supposed to receive Medicare.
So, I go on the website to sign up for Medicare.
And um they say um we we can't approve you because we need you to come to a social security office with your original birth certificate and your naturalization document and your passport to prove that you're an American citizen, cuz otherwise you're not going to get it.
I mean, it was a hassle. I did it.
Everything's fine. But Wait.
Uh you know, you're you're not going to get Medicare and social security unless you're a citizen.
So, it's complete BS cuz illegal immigrants, legal and illegal immigrants, even legal immigrants who never stay in the country to get social security, never become citizens, all of them pay into the system.
So, here you have a system here you have a system where uh you know, there's just if you look at the numbers, just simple numbers, you cannot get to a situation where you balance the federal budget with fraud.
You don't even get anywhere close.
You don't even close it by 10 or 20%.
And again, these people just lie.
Now, and there's a go to the lie because they're lying all this talk about fraud is really talk about immigration. It's all about immigration cuz that's really the only thing people like Stephen Miller care about and the only thing that that J.D. Vance and and you know, these guys care about because it's the only thing that they think is they can sustain.
Is is they they want to destroy immigration into the United States.
And people like to say people like to say that um it's only illegal immigrants they're going after. No, as we saw last week it's legal immigration they want to shut down. They want to shut down immigration. And here's here's a statement that was this is uh and and this is from this morning.
Um Yeah, this is from this morning. This is uh from um the Anti-Fraud Task Force that is chaired by J.D. Vance. This is the co-chair Andrew Foqusen talking about anti-fraud.
He says Our whole society was designed for high-trust people. People.
Then we imported the third world.
The American people rightly expect that their fellow citizens will deal with them and their government honestly and fairly.
That's why up to until last decade or so, shelves in our grocery stores and our pharmacies were open and readily accessible. We weren't accustomed to seeing security guards outside of banks or jewelry stores.
We didn't have to worry about organized retail theft or industrial scale scammers or the type you all or the type you all protect your citizens from every day.
No, did we have notice the constant emphasis on citizens.
Citizens, not the criminals being not citizens and these are citizens.
No, did we have to worry about fraudsters raiding our benefits program.
But sadly, that's no longer true. It's become clear that huge groups of people in this country, people, not citizens, in this country are taking advantage of the long-standing culture of trust to enrich themselves at the expense of the American people.
So, there's the other the the the fraudsters and the American people, the citizens.
They have a you know, particularly countries of origin, I guess.
I think a brief example would be illustrative. Just this weekend I was shopping at a big home improvement store to buy a drill to do some home improvement and I had a call button and wait 15 minutes for a sales associate to come and lock a steel cage and a steel padlock to get access to the drill.
It's why deodorants is now locked behind plastic windows at pharmacies. It's why security guards are seen in every store in America.
The social trust has evaporated and people are taking advantage of it the same way the same is true with our federal benefits programs. Huge segments of the population have decided to take advantage of this generosity and trust of American citizens through deception and fraud and billions and billions of dollars each year.
Leave our program leave our programs into into the hands of pirates, fraudsters, scammers and gangs who treat American generosity as little more than a quick rich scheme.
Uh we shouldn't have to live this way.
Yeah, I don't think we should live have to live this way at all.
But notice what he isn't saying.
What he isn't saying is these are all people all these people are immigrants.
But that's what he's implying.
That's what's suggestive of the language.
This is the third world brought into the United States.
This is them doing this.
Like all all the shoplifting, that's immigrants.
All of it.
It has nothing to do with uh you know, leftists in government who who say that shoplifting is not really a crime. It has nothing to do with uh the mayor of Chicago saying that uh looting of stores is just a way of uh slavery reparations.
It has nothing to do with anything. It has everything to do with the only one issue they really care about.
Which is demonizing immigrants.
Demonizing immigrants.
So for them, crime is all about immigration.
Again, there's no evidence of this.
There's zero zero evidence of this.
But that's the story. The whole story of fraud coming from the right.
They don't care about fraud. I mean, as we'll talk about, they they just elected Paxton to be their representative um their representative you know, they they he won the primary in Texas.
Uh somebody who's been indicted for fraud. They don't care about fraud.
They care about the country of origin of the person who committed the fraud.
That's all they care about.
The only issue they really stand by, they really get passionate about, they really care about is the um is immigrants.
>> [sighs] >> And look, there's a lot of fraud out there.
There's a lot of fraud.
It's all related to the welfare state.
The welfare state exacerbates fraud. The welfare state almost encourages fraud.
There's tons of fraud out there committed by Americans, by immigrants, by people of all kinds of national origins.
Fraud is just baked in to the welfare state.
You can't be dishing out billions and billions and billions of other people's money based on need based on need and not have fraud.
Right?
Um A new Cato study I don't like these studies in particular cuz I don't think this is the essential argument, but this isn't you know, this these are numbers.
A new Cato study found immigrants reduced US deficits by 14.5 trillion since 1994.
Not increased, reduced.
That is, they paid more into the system than they got from the system.
Even undocumented immigrants were estimated to reduce deficits by at least 1.7 to to to to trillion.
So, yeah, I mean, what do illegal immigrants come to the United States for.
Almost all of them.
Almost all immigrants come to the United States in order to work.
In order to have a better life.
They they pay taxes.
Because they have to. Because they work.
And they build stuff.
They create stuff. Some of them go to Silicon Valley and become gazillionaires and create whole industries and employ millions of people. Others become gardeners or open up a little store or become construction workers, but all of them work.
And yet we vilify them.
And they don't create the problems.
They don't create the deficits.
That's Americans who are creating deficits.
And Americans leech off of the state far more than immigrants.
If you look at the percentage of people on welfare, native-born Americans are far higher percentage than immigrants or first generation, second generation immigrants.
