In professional sports, a star player's free agency decision can benefit a team even if they don't sign with that team, as the player's presence in the league can elevate other teams and create competitive balance; the Philadelphia 76ers can still improve their roster through other means if LeBron James chooses Cleveland or Miami, as these teams would likely remain competitive but not surpass the Sixers in the Eastern Conference power rankings.

I HATE This...
Added:We continue our countdown of LeBron watch day whatever the bleep this is where the NBA is low-key held hostage by a 41-year-old diva that screams, "It's Taco Tuesdays!"
on the internet. Yep, that's right. We are still hanging out counting down till LeBron decides where he's going. I want to talk about the latest and I want to also rant a little bit about whether or not we actually need him. I know he's good at basketball. Well, I want to I want to hear from you guys. I want to break all of it down, the latest. Let's do some Twitter investigations.
I I just I can hear my What's going on, Christian Petersen?
Uh Sixers Digest like, subscribe, comment, share. The show that can hear my journalism school professors being like, "You're talking about tweets about a 41-year-old basketball player holding the entire league hostage." And then just be like, "Uh what did we train you for?" But nonetheless, like I said, we're going to talk about that. We got to do a really really quick PrizePicks read before we get there. They are America's number one sports week app, best way to get in on the action. Right now, if you want to get in on the action using the code digest d i g e s t when you sign up, PrizePicks will give you $50 when you play your first $5 in lineups. Okay, by now, I am assuming that most, if not all of you, saw the fiasco that was this last night of Or maybe it wasn't a fiasco. Maybe it was a plan. Maybe it was a fake. I That's why I said we No concrete information has come out. But LeBron the this the Heat uh put on their YouTube that the 27th of this month they're going to be live streaming LeBron's introductory press conference.
And okay, like sure, great. Then, you know, 6 hours later there was a posting on Indeed looking for somebody to come in and uh be the new so uh new YouTube manager for the Heat, so I can believe both that that was a real thing and that he has already signed or he's like in the final signings with the Heat. And I can also believe that that is somebody who left a thumbnail active for a alleged You know what I'm saying? Like, we're at a level right now where to me the LeBron things are kind of stupid because it's photos from you know, 200 ft away of LeBron grabbing dinner with Nick Nurse in Philadelphia. It's breaking down interviews where LeBron trolls all of us and talks about how much he trusts the process. And that has people saying, "Oh my gosh, he's headed to the Sixers." And it all to me is it's really it it's a it's a tough thing because I do want him in the sense of like he's LeBron.
Whether or not you think he's the goat, he's really good at basketball. And I think that what I read in the comment section from you guys, it's pretty divided on like the personality side and the ego side and the who he is side versus you There there are scant few of you that are in there being like, "Okay, well, here X and O of his actual basketball skill Like, I get that he's not a seven-footer and so he's not going to play an exorbitant Like, that's the only knock that I can find of you guys in the comment section.
If it's just talking about the actual basketball, Maxey, Embiid, and Jaylen Brown are the ones making the pitch. And those three plus you know, whoever rounds that out, if it's Dean Wade starting because of him, you know, as you guys said, Dean Wade on cowbell. Like he's the background noise that has to sometimes round out the band.
That's a good basketball team. That's a great basketball team. That's a basketball team that I think Mike D'Antoni has been fine with sitting here and waiting for LeBron, making the pitch. From everything that I have heard, it's not about the money. LeBron seems pretty set on accepting the vet minimum, so I don't think this is bidding war in the background. I I can believe that LeBron really hasn't made up his mind because he likes seeing the ego getting stroked of all of this.
But all of that being said, I talked about this a little bit in my yesterday video. So that's why I say like, subscribe, comment, share. We got all sorts of stuff coming out even when Shawn disappears on us with no explanation. He already got married and did the honeymoon, so no idea, guys. I am as confused as to where he is as you are. But when we got all these stuff coming out, like it's a consistent thing that the Sixers have gotten better all season.
And that they don't have an immediate pressing like, "Oh my gosh, they they missed out on Drummond or they missed out on X, Y, or Z other guys waiting for LeBron."
So I'm fine with it. Throw in the summer league results. I think J'Nai Broom might be at the opposite end of like the way that all of you guys had like your little tit-for-tat about LeBron personality-wise. All of you guys disagree exclusively on J'Nai Broom's basketball acumen, and some of you really don't think he's great enough.
Some of you do think he's great enough.
But like to me, he at least can round out the last spot.
I don't think that there's any other off-season like, "Oh my gosh," pressing moves. I think that if LeBron does not sign with the Sixers, the next moves at this point for me, if I'm looking ahead as to still wanting to keep getting better between now and the start of the season or let's call it even between now and like the halfway point of the season cuz I think that this might be something where got to just roll the ball out a little bit at this point and play and see what we got and then make adjustments because there are still a draft pick or two, some other moves that can be made combined with I don't think that the guys who are still free agents at this point are going to necessarily get like Oh, like if LeBron goes to the Heat then everyone else makes all these other boo like I think there's some guys that are just going to be available still. And I also see and hear your comments on like picking up I use Kevin Love as my example, but picking up like a wily vet just for the sake of like veteran leadership and it something where I'm like, "Okay, if we're not going to go do that, fine. We can wait two or three months until we make our next real calculated move." And I don't think that Mike Gundy needs to come out and overreact just because LeBron didn't sign with the Sixers.
I'd also like to say that part of me thinks that even if LeBron doesn't sign with the Sixers but instead signs with let's call it Cleveland or Miami that it can still help the Sixers.
That sounds kind of crazy maybe, but hear me out.
I don't trust Cleveland to be at all good.
I think Cleveland for LeBron is another fun chapter in I'm coming home and yada yada yada, but that's a team that's relying on then two ancient ass dinosaurs with Harden and LeBron and $70 million a year worth of Donovan Mitchell and I know that they just made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, but they didn't Did any of you believe in them in any substantial way in that series against the Knicks? No. I don't At least not for me. They were a team that squeaked They They snuck into that round and got kind of exposed.
Miami.
Some will argue that Bam can maintain this growth curve that he's on. I don't think he's going to ever do the 80 thing. I don't think he is Kobe. I think that he's good. I think that Giannis is great.
But again, past that, it's kind of an incomplete team. So, to me, if LeBron winds up at Cleveland or Miami, and this is where I may maybe is a little bit of a stretch, but I'm also like kind of done with the hypothetical if LeBron comes here, here's this part like Okay, great. If he comes here, fine. If not, him at least still moving into the East and then picking a team that to me is at best slightly behind the Sixers, if not a couple of spots behind the Sixers, just it doesn't move I don't think it moves the Heat or the Cavs above the Sixers in the power rankings. And if anything, I think it maybe chips a little bit away at everybody else in the East in a way that benefits the Sixers.
And that you know, that's like What's that um you know, that's like by association kind of math, but if the Heat get good enough that they steal a game from the Raptors or the Cavs or the Knicks or the whatever throughout the season, steal five or six games, or same with the Cavs steal, you know, a little bit of a win or two here that LeBron generates for them and keeps them in it, but without making them like, oh my gosh, singular world enders, then that help like that's where I'm like that can still help the Cavs. So, I guess it's to me it's yeah, the that he still hasn't signed, but it's too it's good.
I think that that's between all three of these East teams and might be some slight benefits even if he does I'm trying to maybe look at instead of just the benefits, I'm looking at the silver lining that if we wasted all of our time talking about LeBron for all these weeks and then he doesn't come here that we can still get some benefit out of that. Or he can go to the Golden State Warriors and I can just continue to be wrong on everything. But until we find all that out, I'll be here blabbing away about the Sixers. Like, subscribe, comment, share. Before we get out of here, you know we got to say thank you one more time to PrizePicks, America's number one sports pick app and the best way to get in on the action.
