[00:00:11]But we have them coming from every direction.

[00:00:13]And now it will start to move, I hope.

[00:00:19]But it was making its intent clear.

[00:00:30]Yeah, so this is the regular Amsterdam as you might uh know it.

[00:00:48]But to be able to experience it first-hand here in the Netherlands, that's unreal. Because I've been waiting for this moment ever since autonomy day in 2019, uh where Elon said this this is going to come.

[00:01:02]And the moment's finally here. So, uh for me it's yeah, like I'm smiling every single time when I'm in the car and uh >> [cheering] [cheering] [cheering] [applause] >> I think this should be approved everywhere in Europe because it will lead to increased safety.

[00:02:07]Um and that I think that's the most important thing of of all. Um because the amount of people that die every year uh in road accidents, it could be lowered. It should be lowered because it makes absolutely no sense for people to die in something mundane as driving.

[00:03:25]Uh our concerns with the self-driving cars, uh letting them into the public space in the Netherlands is that we have quite a unique traffic system in the world where all these cyclists are floating through the traffic system and they are swarming around and going from the left to the right and cross each other and we are not fully assured that uh these self-driving cars uh will understand the behavior of Dutch cyclists, which is quite unique and uh complex.

[00:04:04]But this system is somewhere between self-driving cars because you stay responsible and you're not allowed to go on your phone or do other things. But hey, if you have this car driving for you, we expect that everybody's going to do something else in the car and not look what's happening on the street. So, I'm not fully convinced that this uh in-between step is the right way to go.

[00:04:34]I have yet to notice um or encounter a difficult road situation. Here we have a lot of bikers trying to overtake us. We have bikers coming towards us. We have bikers coming from the left.

[00:04:49]What's the dangerous thing here?

[00:04:56]Yeah, I think the safety will be much better because the cars will be keep their distance and etc. And I think they they will see a bikers for instance here in Amsterdam. I think they will be much nicer for bikers to have a self-driving cars. I think in general it could be convenient, right?

[00:05:17]I also think it could be safe.

[00:05:22]I think especially on a highway, you know, because that's more I don't know.

[00:05:27]Everyone going the same direction and maybe you can also, I don't know, with a computer it interacts a bit better. But maybe here in the streets with all the tourists, I think uh the AI model still needs to adapt to all the crazy things they do. So, hopefully it's tested enough so that it will be safe. So, I think maybe in America and on the highway it's it's safe, but here I don't know. I'm not convinced yet.
