This video examines the tension between government transparency and national security, using Canada's 2026 RCMP-China security agreement as a case study. The Montreal Institute for Global Security report reveals China's systematic interference in foreign countries, including harassment of citizens and intellectual property theft. Despite Mark Carney calling China Canada's greatest security threat during the election campaign, the government signed a secret police cooperation agreement with Chinese authorities in January 2026 and refused to release it, citing operational security. This raises questions about democratic accountability and whether citizens have the right to know about agreements their government signed with nations they publicly identified as threats.

Carney silent on Canada-China security dealAdded:
China's interference in other countries is systemic, and that's a report.
Um, a new report uh including through agents of Chinese Communist Party embedding themselves in foreign societies. The Montreal Institute of Global Security's report comes as the Liberals continue to grow closer with China with the country's foreign minister visiting Ottawa today.
Kyle Matthews, the executive director of the Montreal Institute of for Global Security, says, "We're dealing with states that have murdered Canadian citizens Canadian citizens have harassed harassed Canadian citizens, states that have stolen some of our top intellectual property.
Well, I mean, the list is on and on and on and on and on. Slave labor, inferior products, dumping, all kinds of things, right? And we heard yesterday at the auto sector saying we got to stop that that Chinese EV uh incursion into Canada.
But here's Mark Carney asked about this. Let's listen to him on the on the agreement that was signed with China.
>> foreign minister Wang Yi later this week paved the way for a visit by President Xi Jinping. And you said previously that there are guardrails in place in Canada against foreign interference. Yet, your uh your government has not released publicly the RCMP MOU signed with Chinese police. Why is that?
>> the second part of the question first.
Uh we don't make a habit I'll answer the second part of the question uh security documents with with other governments for reasons of operational security. That is standard practice for this government, previous governments as well. So, I I don't see a reason uh to change that in in the circumstance. So, thank you for that question, but that's that's our policy, and that's what we that's what we stay to. Uh I look forward to uh the visit of uh China's foreign minister tomorrow.
Um I will have a chance to to meet with him.
It'll be a valuable exchange of views, and uh I appreciate his uh, bravado. Thank you.
>> It's all good.
When asked When asked Chinese Why Why do the Chinese want you to win the election? Why are they helping you win the election, Mr. Carney?
I don't know. Let's move on.
>> But he's not making these comments about hiding documents, hiding agreements with um, the security apparatus of a country that uh, poses a threat to us, is he? I mean, he didn't say literally in his own words that China was the greatest threat to Canada, did he? He didn't say anything like that.
Cuz he wouldn't He wouldn't have said something like that and then proceeded to do something like this, would he?
And think that that was an adequate response?
>> Apparently, he would.
>> Just It's not remarkable. And we just know We know that the Chinese are Talk about elbows elbows up. They're They're elbows deep in countries.
They've They've technology, um, even the military, you know, science, tech, everything.
They're They're right in. It says in that um, Montreal Institute report, they're deeply embedded in Western societies, including in Canadian society.
>> their number one target.
>> Yeah, well, per per capita, yeah, and it's cuz it's seen as the sort of weak not underbelly, the weak >> weak link of the weak >> the weak head of of of America. And it's seen as a win to the United States.
But it's so dismaying just to see the the duplicitousness of uh, Mark Carney.
That he said that this is the most dangerous country in the world.
Like, you know, if you if you want to be scared of anything, guys, it's China, according to Mark Carney.
And then he goes and does this deal, kisses the feet of Xi Jinping, gives them all sorts of lovely little goodies, including this security agreement, and then won't even tell people, won't even tell Canadians about it, and then dismisses the question as if it was nothing. As if as if he was talking about an ordinary country. He says, "You know, we don't do that when we when we have deals with countries." China's not just a country, is it?
In your own words, it's the greatest threat to Canada and the whole Western system. And it's not so much a country as an empire. It's not a massive entity.
And it's controlled by some would say pretty much insane ideologues who believe in Mao and Lenin and communism. They actually believe in trying to get to this utopia through whatever means they can. They actually They're actually mental.
>> It's actually comical because it it's the liberals and much of the media in Canada, the the government-funded media, paint China as is is, you know, like as almost like a democracy. I had the United States America is the threat to democracy, the freest country in the world, that you know, that that guarantees the right for freedom of absolution of speech.
And they compare that and then you look at how they talk about China and and, you know, Carney and the rest of them how they talk about China and how the media portrays China. China's a, you know, a better partner than America.
It's absolutely >> unreliable. Joly said that, didn't she?
>> Yeah, it's dystopian. It's absolutely crazy. And these are the people They're They're telling you these things. And also, Mark Carney told you, you know, Canadians may need to make sacrifices. You may need to make sacrifices at this time, you know, because of all the policies that have been set out for the last 11 years that aren't changing, really.
