Wealth concentration undermines democratic governance when economic elites gain disproportionate political influence through mechanisms like unlimited campaign spending via Super PACs, as demonstrated by the Citizens United Supreme Court decision enabling billionaires to spend unlimited amounts on elections, which threatens the principle of 'one person, one vote' and enables policies that benefit the wealthy at the expense of the general public.

'Trump is a Pathological Liar,' Bernie Sanders Drops His Most Explosive Trump Attack Yet | N18GAdded:
The issue here is not only that we have a president who is a pathological liar, an authoritarian who wants more and more power in his own hands, somebody who undermines our Constitution every single day and the rule and the rule of law, but you have somebody who allied with his oligarchic friends has provided a trillion dollars in tax breaks to the top 1% while he threw 15 million people off the health care they desperately need.
They have the money, unlimited sums of money, we have the people.
Status quo politics is not good enough.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> And owning the media is of enormous benefit to the wealthiest people in this country. But let me go further.
It's not only income and wealth inequality that we're dealing with, not only concentration of ownership, not only ownership with the media, but something else that's going on right now which is of enormous consequence. And that is that in America today, the billionaire class is hell-bent on owning our political system as well.
As a result of the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision, billionaires, as you know, are now legally able to spend as much money as they want on political campaigns through their so-called super PACs.
So, are we shocked to learn that Mr. Musk spent $290 million to help elect Trump president?
The richest 100 people in our country spent 2.6 billion on the last election, and they're spending huge amounts of money right now in the November midterm elections.
We have super PACs from the crypto industry, from AI, from AIPAC, who all have almost unlimited sums of money. So, what we're up against is you get one vote, you get one vote, and they are able to spend unlimited amounts of money to buy elections.
So, to my mind, from a political point of view, the most important thing that we have got to do is get rid of this disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision.
And we have got to move to public funding of elections. And it's not just what Trump [music] is doing domestically.
We got to take a deep breath and think about the kind of country we are and what we want to be.
And that is to understand that in the middle of the night, some 2 months ago, Trump began a war that never should have happened, unprovoked war by bombing Iran, assassinating its leadership, and killing many civilians.
And that unnecessary, unprovoked war has led to the death of thousands of civilians in Iran, >> [snorts] >> in Lebanon, in Israel, and elsewhere.
That war is not only unconstitutional, because he didn't have the authorization of Congress, it is an absolute violation of international law.
When you have one nation unprovoked bombing another nation, you unleash international anarchy.
What will the United States say if another country tomorrow bombs and attacks its neighbors or another country?
What will be our response? What can we say?
If the United States unprovoked can attack Iran, any other nation has a green light to do the same.
And we have [music] got to prevent that if this planet is going to survive.
The American people, whether they are progressives, moderates, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, Independents, do not believe that it is a very good idea for the United States taxpayers to be funding the military of a country which has engaged in genocide.
>> [screaming] >> Mr. Musk, Mr. Bezos, Mr. Zuckerberg, Mr. Ellison, Mr. Altman and others, some of the wealthiest people in our country are pushing AI and robotics extremely aggressively.
What is the function of a robot?
Give me it one sentence. What is the function?
Exactly, not complicated. A robot is to is to replace human labor.
Mr. Bezos, one of the wealthiest people in our country, is putting together a fund of a hundred billion dollars in order to automate factories.
You know what that means in English?
It means doing away with manufacturing jobs in America.
You have AI right now is moving very, very aggressively.
And many young college graduates who are looking for entry-level jobs are finding it harder and harder to find those jobs. Now, nobody knows exactly what happens, what the timeline is.
But there are all very serious economists who worry that in the next decade we're talking about the loss of tens of millions of jobs. Woo!
