On to the details now. The US and Iran closed in on a framework for a ceasefire extension detail, but President Donald Trump has yet to approve any agreement.
Reports emerged that the two sides had reached agreement on a memorandum of understanding to prolong the truce for 60 days. Though US President Donald Trump claims that Washington retains overwhelming leverage in negotiations with Iran and warned that military action remains an option if talks fail to produce a favorable outcome.
Sources say the MOU would open the Strait of Hormus but leave Iran's nuclear program unresolved, but further talks to follow on the issue. The 60-day deal will say that shipping through the Straight of Hormuz will be unrestricted with no tolls or harassment and with Iran having to remove all mines within 30 days. The US will in return lift its naval blocket on Iran's ports, but only in proportion to how much commercial shipping is restored. The memorandum will also contain an Iranian commitment not to pursue a nuclear weapon.
Earlier, US Central Command said its forces had shot down five Iranian attack drones and struck a ground control station in the port city of Bad Abas that was about to launch a sixth Kuwaiti forces then intercepted a ballistic missile fire towards the country which host a large US base. the violence, the second flare up this week where multiple countries have been caught up in the conflict.
And US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that both the parties were close to reaching the deal, adding that the US was in a position where it could substantially set back the Iran's nuclear program.
If you look at what we've already accomplished here, assuming that we're able to get to a final agreement here, we're reopening the streets of Hormuz.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed Israel's military to expand its control of the Gaza Strip to 70%. Now under an October US broke a truce that has failed to halt Israeli attacks or secure Hamas disarmament. Israeli troops were meant to withdraw to a yellow line demarcating the extent of their control. Israel already effectively controls an estimated 64% of the strip following an extensive military operation in 2023 after the October 7 attacks.

Meanwhile, ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon failed to halt fighting between Israeli troops in Hezbollah and South Lebanon. The Israeli military said it had conducted a precise strike targeting a building in Beirut's southern suburbs.
The target was Ali Al Husseini whom they described as head of the missile division within the Imam Hussein division.
Well, as the Cuba US tension seems to escalate, Cuba's deputy foreign minister Josephina Vidal sees the risk of US military aggression against the island growing as negotiations between the nations stagnate. Speaking at a legislative hearing at the national capital to denounce US sanctions on Cuban oil imports, Vidal accused Washington of fabricating pretext to portray Cuba as a threat to US national security to justify aggression.

This transformation champions inclusivity supporting small farmers, women led groups in allied sectors. Here's a report that lists the number of initiatives launched by Prime Minister Modi government to enhance, upgrade and support the agricultural sector with a special focus on farmers of India.
Agriculture is at the heart of India's economy and culture and farmers are the backbone of the sector. Keeping in view the rich identity of India, the past 12 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi has witnessed a profound transformation rooted in the philosophy of beach Sazarak from seeds to the market. An array of initiatives have been taken to benefit and transform the agriculture sector. Let's begin with the financial benefits.
Enhanced budget allocation. The union budget 202627 allocated 1 lak 4,529 cr rupees to the ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare representing a 5.4% increase from previous year's revised estimates. Increase in MSP and support to farmers. In recently held cabinet meeting, the government of India increased the MSP of Karif crops for marketing season 202627 to ensure reminerative prices to the growers for their produce. Financial security for the farmers. Prime Minister Kisan Samani a central sector scheme launched in February 2019 that aims to supplement the financial needs of landfolding farmers. Kissan credit card.
The Kissan credit card scheme ensures hassle-free and affordable credit to the farmers for short and long-term cultivation, post-h harvest expenses and consumption needs. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bimma Yoja launched in 2016. It aims to provide a simple, affordable and comprehensive crop insurance product to the Indian farmers. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichai Yojuna launched during the year 2015 2016. It aims to enhance physical access of water on farm and expand cultivable area under assured irrigation. Improved onfarmm water use efficiency. Introduce sustainable water conservation practices etc. Soil health cards. Soil health card provides information to the farmers on nutrient status of their soil along with recommendation on appropriate dosage of nutrients to be applied for improving soil health and its fertility. Modern infrastructure for agriculture launched in 2020 2021 agriculture infrastructure fund is a key initiative aimed at bridging critical gaps in posth harvest management by supporting development of farm gate storage logistics and processing the infrastructure. Agrihaw Agrihaw provides equity and debt funding to ventures working on solutions such as FPU support, rental farm machinery and IT based agri tech food processing sector by creating robust farm to market linkages, reducing post-h harvest losses and expanding value addition through modern processing infrastructure. The sector has increased the profitability of agricultural produce. Blue revolution India's union budget allocates a record of 2761.8 8 cr rupees to the fishery sector. The pradhad matsa sampaada yojana continues to anchor this funding with highest ever scheme based allocation of 2500 cr rupees. Dairy sector India ranks first in the world in milk production contributing 25% of global output. Milk production in the country has increased by 63.56% over the last 10 years. Ethanol procurement. The government of India is implementing the ethanol blended petrol program to promote the use of alternatives eco-friendly fuels and reduce dependency on imported crude oil solar panels on baron land. The pradhan mantri kisanja suraka iam utan mahabyan or pm kusum aims to reduce diesel use in agriculture and post farmers income.
National mission on natural farming. The mission aims to promote chemical-free farming among 1 crow farmers and establish 10,000 bioinput resource centers with a financial outlay of 2,184 cr rupees. Shri Ana or millets recognizing the nutritional and environmental value of these ancient brain. United Nations declared 2023 as the international year of millets. Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yodjana. >> And moving on, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Push Goil who is on a visit to US attended a closed-d dooror roundt discussion of US India strategic partnership forum in New York City. During the discussion, the minister provided an encouraging update on US India trade negotiations, assuring the industry that an interim agreement is close. He emphasized that investor confidence, business stability and a predictable regulatory environment remain top priorities for the Indian government. His engagement reaffirmed India's strong commitment to deepening the bilateral economic partnership.
As the US trade representatives negotiating team heads to India early next week, the forum wishes both governments a productive and successful round of negotiations.
Early in the day, Union Minister Poy had an interaction with Chief Executive Officer and director the Carle Group M squats. During the meeting, the minister directed officials to take all necessary measures to ensure that issues faced by students are resolved in a timely, transparent and studentfriendly manner. He reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and a studententric examination system while ensuring students and parents that all genuine concerns would be addressed effectively and expeditiously. Reiterating that students interests remain the government's former priority, Minister Dhindra Pradhan assured strict action against any lapses and stated that no negligence whether within or outside the system would be tolerated.
And in business news, US markets posted record closing highs on Thursday after news reports said the US and Iran had reached a draft agreement to extend their ceasefire for 60 days. While investors also digested Kiki inflation data, economic data showed US inflation increased at its fastest pace in three years in April driven by higher energy prices amid the Iran war. According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 gained 43.50 50 points, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 239.79 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 24.11 points. The S&P 500 healthcare index posted strong gains.
Tech shares also moved higher.
Well, the peace deal reports also prompted oil prices to fall on hopes of a potential reopening of the Straight of Hormuz, a key transit route for roughly a fifth of the world's oil and liqufied natural gas supply.
And in sports, the Indian women's cricket team beat England by 38 runs in the opening match of the T20 International Series in CH Sport. Jimar Rodriguez smashed 69 runs of 40 balls while Yasika Bhartya marked her return with a fluent 54 as India recovered from early setbacks to post 188 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Bhat Rodriguez launched a counterattack adding a record 126 run partnership in just 76 balls.
Lauren Bell was England's standout bowler with three wickets. In the chase, England managed only 150 rounds with the loss of eight wickets despite a fighting 67 by Ammy Jones. While Nandi Sharma on her debut was the pick of the bowlers for India, scalping three wickets in four overs. The next match will be played on Saturday.
