[00:43:33]So brothers and sisters of the sanga, how many of us have ever loan money to someone and suddenly that person disappears faster than free food at a party.

[00:43:54]Right before the loan, they text you every single day. Good morning. How are you? You're such a great friend.

[00:44:06]After the loan, silence, nothing.

[00:44:12]Now you're sitting there staring at your phone thinking, "Did they change their number or did they move out of the country?"

[00:44:25]Right? So we laugh. But many of us have experienced some version of this, right?

[00:44:35]Yeah. And while it may sound funny, it teaches us something very important about life, compassion, and wisdom.

[00:44:50]Both God and the Buddha teaches us to help others, to be kind, to be generous, to care for people who are struggling.

[00:45:07]But they also teach us something equally important.

[00:45:15]Compassion without wisdom can sometimes create more suffering.

[00:45:24]Now brothers and sisters, as master said, money is not just paper.

[00:45:32]Money is energy.

[00:45:37]It represents your time, your hard work.

[00:45:44]Your sacrifices, your stress, your early mornings and late nights, every dollar carries a piece of your life energy, right? Do you agree?

[00:46:03]So when we give or loan money, we should do it with mindfulness and wisdom.

[00:46:13]not guilt, not pressure and not emotional impulse.

[00:46:20]Now I remember a time when someone came to me asking for financial help.

[00:46:29]Immediately my heart wanted to help.

[00:46:33]I thought if I say no, maybe I'm not being compassionate.

[00:46:42]But deep inside something felt uncomfortable.

[00:46:49]This person had a pattern.

[00:46:53]Poor decisions, repeated irresponsibility.

[00:46:59]Always another emergency.

[00:47:04]Still, I ignored that inner feeling because I wanted to appear kind.

[00:47:14]Later, the money was never repaid.

[00:47:20]But honestly, losing the money was not even the worst part.

[00:47:28]The worst part was the suffering afterwards.

[00:47:33]frustration, resentment, disappointment.

[00:47:41]That experience taught me a powerful lesson.

[00:47:46]Helping someone without wisdom can sometimes enable unhealthy behaviors instead of helping them grow.

[00:47:57]In Buddhism, compassion and wisdom must walk together like two wings of a bird.

[00:48:07]If we only have compassion without wisdom, we may become emotionally exhausted.

[00:48:16]If we only have wisdom without compassion, we may become cold and disconnected.

[00:48:25]So we need both.

[00:48:28]God teaches us to love and give generously, but also to be wise stewards of what we have been entrusted with.

[00:48:43]Different words, same truth.

[00:48:47]Now let me ask all of you, my brothers and sisters, something.

[00:50:15]Sometimes helping means teaching responsibility and sometimes helping means lovingly saying no.

[00:50:30]Because if someone keeps falling into the same hole, eventually we must stop carrying them out of it and start teaching them how to walk differently.

[00:50:48]That brothers and sisters is wisdom.

[00:50:53]So here are three simple questions we can ask ourselves before helping financially.

[00:51:02]First, am I helping this person grow or helping them avoid responsibility?

[00:51:11]Second, can I give this freely without resentment or expectation?

[00:51:21]And third, is this decision coming from wisdom or from guilt and pressure?

[00:51:32]These questions protect both compassion and peace.

[00:51:40]So remember this brothers and sisters, God and the Buddha both teach generosity, but they also teach wisdom.

[00:51:55]Help people, support others, be compassionate, but remember your money is your energy.

[00:52:09]Your time is your energy and true compassion is not blindly giving everything away.

[00:52:21]True compassion is helping in a way that creates growth, responsibility, healing, and long-term good for everyone involved.
