This forecast dresses up a routine cold front in technical jargon to create an illusion of scientific complexity for a standard local update. It provides functional data but lacks the analytical depth required for a truly sophisticated meteorological discussion.

Soggy skies, much cooler temperatures across the Denver metro ThursdayAdded:
And what do you say we take a live look at Boulder tonight on this Denver 7 weather action day? We're tracking some scattered showers and then uh we've got a little something more moving in tomorrow. Ooh, I love all the green out there. That's >> thing about all the rain we've got. It's going to look so good this weekend.
Hiking weather up in Boulder in the Flatirons maybe not great the next day or so, but Saturday and Sunday the sun will be out.
>> Perfect.
>> It will be so green. I can't wait.
>> People will be out.
>> Yes, everyone will be out after this much-needed storm pushes through. Uh we're winding down on the month of April here, folks. We have another day to go and wow, we need to make up some lost time in the precipitation department. We are about an inch below average from where we should be. Good news a storm is on the way. Tonight we will still see some scattered showers across the Denver metro area. They'll be hit-or-miss.
Temps this afternoon held in the low 60s here for the metro out to the eastern plains 70 in Lamar with 40s and 50s up in the mountains. And looking at the climate calendar and our camera at top our roof here downtown, mostly cloudy skies with us. We picked up 3/100 of an inch. So not a ton, but we'll take every drop we can get and the rain continues for us tonight as we look out there at the satellite radar composite. Some nice rain showers off to the far northeastern corner of the state along I-70 Lyman to Burlington, far southeastern Colorado and then as I zoom in here to the front range, some nice rainfall moving in around Fort Collins south toward Longmont over to Boulder with some light snowfall up through the mountains. Here in the metro area again, kind of hit-or-miss as these showers pass by.
Showers will continue with us overnight.
Temperatures will drop off into the mid-30s for us. We'll be even cooler up in the mountains handful of 20s up there with low 40s around Lamar and La Junta.
Looking ahead as this storm system moves in, we are talking about some heavy snowfall up through the high country.
Great news to hear winter weather advisories kick in early tomorrow morning and continue through 6:00 a.m.
on Friday. Especially the east slopes of the Front Range Mountains looking at about 5 to 13 inches of snow and then the warning going down south, that's going to be for upwards of 10 to 20 inches for areas above about 11,000 ft.
So some really nice snowfall moving through. As we look at the future cast 11:00 p.m., still some nice rain up and down I-25 and off to the eastern plains.
We'll have a little bit of a lull early tomorrow morning at least here in town with rain and snow moving in for parts of southern Colorado. We fill things in here for the Denver area and certainly that snow will continue. Late tomorrow evening snow levels will be dropping.
We'll be back down to about 6,500 ft, 7,000 ft. So certainly the Palmer Divide could be looking at some snowfall accumulation. It'll be slushy stuff, but it will make traveling pretty treacherous late tomorrow night. You can just kind of see that rain-snow line on the south and west side of town. So right now computer models kind of going back and forth, not a ton of rain in northern Colorado, but we could see upwards of about a half of inch of water rolling through the Denver area. Pretty much each and every hour for tomorrow we'll be counting on some really nice rain. Temperatures will drop quite a bit. We're looking at highs in the 40s, low 50s for most of eastern Colorado with some spots up through the high country in the 30s Winter Park as well as Grand Lake. Super 7-day forecast the storm clears out early Friday and then there it is, the 60s and 70s, plenty of sunshine and great hiking weather on top this weekend.
