BREAKING: Ukrainian FPV Drone Hits Flying Russian Mi-28 Attack Helicopter

[00:00:01]Hello, team. Welcome to another ATP Geopolitics video with myself, Jonathan MSPs. This is a Ukraine war breaking news update concerning a Mi-28 attack helicopter used by the Russians flying over a village in Belgorod being taken down by a Well, presumably being taken down by a Ukrainian FPV drone. We don't know the outcome necessarily, although I'm hoping that there will be some footage that will emerge, maybe some satellite imagery that will show a burning helicopter, but it's certainly been hit by an FPV drone. Chased down, if you will.

[00:00:57]Here we have the Rarog drone of of the Rarog unit, drone operators of Ukraine's unmanned systems forces struck a Russian Mi-28 helicopter attack helicopter with an FPV drone hitting its tailboom directly 10:00 in the morning near Vyazovoye in Belgorod region in Russia. Madyar apparently said, "Minus a Russian Mi-28 Night Hunter in Belgorod Vyazovoye village." So, that would assume Well, if we are to believe Robert Brovdy Madyar, then they have lost a helicopter and this has successfully brought the helicopter down. Of course, as per normal, the drone cuts out on the approach to the helicopter.

[00:01:49]You see the helicopter there in the middle of the image.

[00:01:54]FPV loses it momentarily, and then at the top of the image it comes back in or top of the video.

[00:02:00]And here we see the helicopter approach it. Now, I guess if you are lucky enough as a drone operator to be in the situation where you uh have got a helicopter in your sight, I presume there is common knowledge of where best to hit the helicopter, but maybe not, who knows.

[00:02:17]Um this will have an explosive impact.

[00:02:23]Uh so, the what I presume to charge will go off.

[00:02:26]Where do you best hit it? The tail rotor? It seems like even though it says the tail boom, it seems like this actually takes out the uh the rotors.

[00:02:34]The rotors will have caught that before it goes and hits the tail boom. So, I don't think it does hit the tail boom. I think that's exploding on the rotors.

[00:02:42]The rotors will presumably cause the uh the FPV drone to explode and the ammunition on board to explode.

[00:02:51]And I presume that'll be enough to knack the rotors and send that uh to the send that helicopter to the ground there. It's not a huge distance to the ground, um but I'm presuming that's a helicopter lost.

[00:03:07]And uh the Russians will be ruing uh another destroyed Mi helicopter, Mi-28 in this case. So, anyway, that's really good news there.

[00:03:20]Uh Mi-28 attack helicopter. We could go and search out via via Zavoya or however it is um you know, spelled, transcribed, via Zavoya.

[00:03:34]On my map, you can look at Sentinel imagery uh to show the latest satellite passes, but the uh unfortunately, it does get pixelated when you get closer in because it is kind of free but up-to-date satellite imagery. But last time there was a loss of a a fixed-wing aircraft that was uh shot down, the one that was taken out by the Patriot system together with three uh three Ukrainian jets.

[00:04:04]You could see that uh all very clearly uh really from quite a distance on that Sentinel imagery. So, if someone wants to go and check uh on map.atpgeo.com, find that village in Belgorod and check around there. Depends when the satellite passes over. Uh if we go if we do that now, map.

[00:04:25]Um atpgeo.com, uh if you go if we go to the um base layer, if we go to the Sentinel 2 true and hybrid, that gives you it with um labels, cuz you need that to find the right village. And then somewhere in this Belgorod region, there will be that village. It's about 87 km, something like that, from the front line uh from the border. So, I I don't know where that would be, but then you would just go in and in and in and look for uh some kind of burning wreckage. Uh but, you're going to at the moment it takes a little time for for these to upload because it's loading the latest maps. Um and then when you do get there, it will come out in color.

[00:05:17]And then you should be able to see wreckage of a helicopter, even though it does get pretty pixelated the the closer in you get. As you can see here with this free layout of latest satellite imagery, it's not the greatest of resolution, but that is enough to see a burning aircraft. That's what we saw last time, as I said with the fixed-wing aircraft. You can uh double-click on that and look This was last updated. So, actually Sentinel hasn't passed here in 2 weeks. It just depends where you are.

[00:05:49]So, it might not turn up for a few days.

[00:05:50]It depends when the sent the Sentinel satellite passes over. You could go somewhere over here and it will pass it will have passed more recently. It just really depends on the um uh on the satellites' journey around uh around orbit around the Earth. Uh just be interested to see if um you've got different dates just a little bit down the road here. Yes, you have.

[00:06:13]So, that's the 8th. So, it's already a week later.

[00:06:16]Um so, these are, you know, much later, more recent satellite images rather than the base layers. Uh but, it still might not you still might have to wait a few days before you you could possibly see any evidence of that shoot down. But, anyway, I'm sure open-source people are going to be working on more recent maps that they have access to, uh satellite images that have access to. I presume this has been lost. Uh you would hope I mean, if I'm being cynical and uh talking in terms of mere military outcome here, you would hope that it would lead to the loss of the crew as well. This is really good. Not for the first time we have seen FPV drones hit helicopters, uh but it doesn't happen too often. And I always wonder whether these drones have half an eye on helicopters know knowing that they operate in the area or whether these drones out on a completely different mission and then they just happen to see a helicopter and think, "Right, that's it. That's what we're doing." Um and then, you know, for this crew it's you all the Christmases come at once. They they have uh they've successfully taken down a helicopter. That will be a massive pat on the back. And um yeah, some kudos from Robert Brodsky, no doubt. Okay, look, that's enough for me.
