Sued by a Subcontractor He Never Hired? A Landlord’s Nightmare本站添加:
Has the world become more unpleasant to do business since COVID? This comes from Grumpy Old Man 10. I'm a landlord and I remodel and a remodeler. I spent [music] the career I spent my career in sales before leaving my job about 4 years ago to do sell to be self-employed. I'm not a big business, no employees, 36 tenants and I'm typically working on two or three active remodel projects at a time.
So I don't So I know part of this business I'm in.
But I also doing this for more than 20 years now. My question to do with what I perceive [music] the largest increase in the amount of BS I have to manage about as a business owner. Not one thing [music] for me not one thing. For me it's dealing with homeless, theft, vandalism, squatters, it's dealing with insurance problems, municipal municipal employee employees that don't seem to give a damn. It's been problems dealing with difficult tenants, vendors, and even the families of deceased tenants. I saw dealing with [music] I saw dealing with really difficult situations that just keep dragging on.
I've had to use [music] the legal system so much that the last 5 years just get just to get business done.
Not even talking about evictions, the random stuff that just never that I've just never had to deal with before.
Right now it's a subcontractor for a residential tenant of mine who filed a maintenance lien despite the fact that I've never heard of them, used them for anything, and as far as I'm aware they've never been to my address or done any work for me. Yet I now got to get a lawyer who's trying to fight them on the mechanics lien and it's a legal department for some big company that couldn't give two craps.
Really I'm just hoping to hear from some other small business owner. I'm trying to decide if I need to start running my business differently or just find something else to do. Is there light at the end of the tunnel and I'm just [music] in the dark period or is this a permanent change in society?
Yep, permanent change in society. Even in my industry I get these grifters, these people who are trying to steal >> [music] >> from me.
