Georgia Governor Race: Candidate Jason Esteves holds election party as results roll inAdded:
One of the Democratic candidates in the race for governor is Jason Estevez. A businessman and former state senator, he owns the Flying Biscuit Cafe in downtown Macon.
He's made issues like affordability a key part of his campaign. We're going to take a live look at his watch party where our sister station is right now with the very latest.
Hey you guys, so everything is pretty high energy here. Jason Estevez was actually out on the campaign trail earlier today speaking with voters then he stopped by here hours before his election party got underway at around 7:30 in order to check in with his crew and see how they're doing here. I can tell you that he is extremely high energy heading into tonight. He's extremely excited to see how primary night ends up going tonight and he told me that he believes that he's going to be heading into a runoff with former mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. As you can tell the results continue to come in right now. He is currently in third place. His team tells me that they're not very concerned about the results right now because it's so early on in the night. He does say that he believes that his message has resonated with voters over the last several months that he's been out on the campaign trail. He says that Democratic voters are currently looking for someone with some fresh leadership and that former mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms can bring some challenges to the campaign trail. So he says if he does go into that runoff with former mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, he believes he'll be able to pull out the win and head into the race into November. Of course, his team closely monitoring the results from here in Atlanta and as soon as we get an update on how that is going to go, we will bring that straight to you guys. We are live in Atlanta for 13 WMAZ, Angelina Sacubal.
All right, thanks very much. Jason Estevez is one of many candidates in the Democratic race for governor. Let's take a look at the latest results coming in.
It is still very early, but Keisha Lance Bottoms still a commanding lead with 61% of the vote, 6% of the precincts reporting.
And these are the other candidates. You can see it's a very crowded field.
On the Republican side, as expected, Burt Jones and Rick Jackson are running neck and neck. Brad Raffensperger and Chris Carr are trailing. They're in the third and fourth slots. Eight candidates running for governor on the Republican side.
