[00:00:07]Today we have a guest here who is uh a intern here in Dvdan Foundation and uh he's come from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore and uh he's studying psychology. So let's know more from him please. Good morning Ash.

[00:00:26]>> Yeah very heartly. Welcome to our Divan Foundation.

[00:00:30]>> So uh I just want you to give a few words about what you do and uh uh how did you landed up here?

[00:00:38]>> Yeah. So my name is Ashmitt. So I was born and raised in Cordugu. Did my schooling there in Madikeri. I also did my preun university in Madikiri CIT Ponampet.

[00:00:49]So currently I'm pursuing my third and final year in Bangalore Mount Carmel College.

[00:00:55]My combinations are psychology, sociology and economics.

[00:00:58]>> Okay. Okay. Very nice to know that. So uh so how come you came to know about DVdan Foundation in Mysuru being in Bangalore?

[00:01:10]>> Well uh the chairman of Dvdan Foundation uh Ponama my my is what I call her.

[00:01:16]>> Okay.

[00:01:17]>> So she is my mom's cousin.

[00:01:19]>> Okay. Okay.

[00:01:19]>> So since childhood I I heard about Dvdan foundation and did a bit of research about it.

[00:01:25]>> Okay.

[00:01:25]>> So the a bit of curiosity about what special children are. So that came to my mind.

[00:01:31]>> So I decided why not do it in DVD Foundation. So that's where I landed up.

[00:01:35]>> Landed up. Okay. Nice to know. And uh heartly welcome once again. So how do we justify what special children are?

[00:01:48]So special children are the ones with neurodedevelopmental delay wherein they need extra love, care and attention in order to be groomed and made independent.

[00:02:00]>> Yeah.

[00:02:01]>> So they can start earning on their own regardless of what their condition is.

[00:02:07]>> Nice. So how do we identify the special children?

[00:02:10]>> So there are four ways to identify a special child. Number one is eye contact. If they are unable to maintain eye contact for a very short period of time then that should be addressed. So the second one is speech delay. If they un unable to articulate their points or their thoughts you know in a clear and crisp way. So that should be that is the second point that should be addressed.

[00:02:35]>> The third one is uh social minglings. If they have problems or >> social interactions, >> social interaction, >> if they have serious problems in approaching a group or starting a conversation with anyone and if they sweat a lot and become anxious and panic. So that that is the third third one. The fourth one is financial management. If they don't know the basics of calculation, what money is, you know, numbers, >> the money transaction, >> money transaction. Yeah, that is what I mean. So these are the four ways. Four, seven major ones. Number one is ASD which is autism spectrum disorder.

[00:03:12]>> Second one is down syndrome and then learning disability, speech delay, intellectual disability, >> ADHD which is known as attention deficit hyperactive disorder >> and then we have GDD which is also called as global developmental delay.

[00:03:28]>> Oh >> yeah.

[00:03:28]>> Nice. So and uh how many days you have been uh in in uh uh DVDA foundation for the internship?

[00:03:38]>> It's been 20 days.

[00:03:40]>> 20 days.

[00:03:41]>> 20 days.

[00:03:42]>> So here is a good news that a student from Mount Tamil college who studying his uh be in psychology who is doing uh going to be doing his masters up ahead.

[00:03:54]So he has come here to Dvdan foundation in 20 days he happened to learn the basics of special children. Just last question uh Ashb >> if at all if you identify a special child on the street.

[00:04:07]>> Yeah.

[00:04:08]>> What will be your thoughts?

[00:04:10]>> So yeah as I as I said I would use the first four methods to identify if the child is special or not. Then I would approach the parents.

[00:04:19]>> Wow.

[00:04:20]>> And then tell them what condition the child is facing.

[00:04:24]And I would do my best from my side >> to understand the situation of the child also >> to make them understand that they have such and such problems or conditions and so I want to convince the parents about the reality what they're facing.

[00:04:41]Next I would do is I would suggest them to enroll their kid in Dvdan Foundation.

[00:04:47]>> Wow. Wow. Yes. Okay. And someone like Dayana and Ponamay is needed in order to groom the child.

[00:04:56]>> Yeah. And make them independent.

[00:04:57]>> So that is one of the main goals of Ddan Foundation to make the child independent.

[00:05:03]>> Independent.

[00:05:04]>> So uh last but not the least >> uh can you tell us what is the end to end solution means in the foundation?

[00:05:13]>> So the end toend solution the first one is um early intervention. Early intervention.

[00:05:18]>> Early intervention, you use the four steps to identify the special child. So that is early intervention and cure. And early intervention, it usually falls between the ages of 1 and before 5 years of age.

[00:05:30]>> Yeah.

[00:05:31]>> So that is the first one. The last one is making them independent so that they can start earning on their own.

[00:05:37]>> Making them capable to inclusive in the society.

[00:05:40]>> Making them inclusive in the society.
