Owings Mills neighbors react to teen assaultHinzugefügt:
A young girl brutally attacked inside a home. Now police have arrested three middle school students. WMAR-2 News is Raven Payne talked to neighbors who saw the aftermath.
Owings Mills neighbors are struggling to find the words to describe what happened in their community. A teenage girl brought here, assaulted and recorded.
Police saying by her own peers. A brutal teen assault is turning this Owings Mills neighborhood on its head. Maha Raza says Monday started out like any other. Uh I was in my backyard there. So I saw some kids there ran away. So that time I was shocked. I said maybe they are playing inside, that's why. But when police came to the neighborhood, she realized the reality was much much worse. They enter inside and they bring her on the stretcher, yes. Police say at 8:25 Monday night, officers arrived to the home and found an unconscious 13-year-old girl inside from an assault.
Authorities tell us no adults were home for the incident. Really, it was very emotional. As a mother, it was very emotional for me. Three other girls ranging from 12 to 14 years old were arrested and charged with first-degree assault. Thankfully, the young victim has been released from the hospital. But for neighbor Isaiah Orr, a video of the assault circling social media makes the situation that much worse. It's shocking to understand that and know understand that these kids are getting involved in this stuff so close to home. The suspects go to Pikesville Middle School.
The principal sent a letter to parents saying in part, "The reports of what occurred are deeply troubling. The actions of these students do not represent our school community. All Pikesville Middle School students involved will receive serious school consequences. Owens says the incident makes what he's trying to instill in his own young children even more important.
To have respect and discipline, you know, respect each other, respect others, and you know, you have to be careful with who you keep around, the company you keep around, because sometimes, you know, some people might be acting like your friends, but they're not really, and they have negative intentions, so. This is still an active police investigation.
