Some Albertans remain skeptical of Ottawa and Alberta’s pipeline agreementHinzugefügt:
CTV's Kathy Le traveled to Central Alberta to hear from Albertans firsthand. Kathy.
Carolyn, I'm in the town of Sundre where I spoke to a number of people inside this bakery behind me about the debate over Alberta independence. Sundre is a town of just under 3,000 people with deep roots in agriculture and oil and gas. Inside the Backwoods Bakery and Cafe, every person I spoke to today supported Alberta separation saying they feel the province has been treated unfairly by Ottawa. Some expressed deep frustration with the federal government and said Alberta's interests are not being represented. Number one, taxes.
Really tired of Quebec and every other country getting our money.
We have homeless people on the streets everywhere and yet every other country is getting money. Trudeau is a liar. Uh, we're done with them.
Um, all the liberals, um, they're they're they're nothing but backstabbers. We've been mistreated in Alberta. I've lived in Alberta all my life, born and raised here, and they've Ottawa has been mistreating us ever since.
And as far back as I can remember. Many here say they want to see more investment in oil and gas and better access to global markets. And they remain skeptical that last week's pipeline agreement between Ottawa and Alberta will actually lead to a new pipeline. As for a possible separation referendum, many here hope Premier Danielle Smith will call for a vote this fall.
Carolyn.
CTV's Kathy Le in Sundre, Alberta. Thank you.
