TESLA UNSUPERVISED ROBOTAXI DAY 39 (HOUSTON)

[00:00:11]And the Tesla Oh, there is something crazy over there. I see the gold.

[00:00:19]Oh, how I wish this was waiting for me.

[00:00:44]It is a beautiful beautiful vehicle.

[00:01:25]>> [music] >> All right, we are leaving Tesla Houston Hempstead.

[00:01:37]We got to see a couple of beautiful gold cyber cabs while we waited.

[00:01:43]Wait time was approximately 15-16 minutes or so.

[00:01:46]There's two robo taxis just chilling in the lot, two black ones.

[00:01:51]Um So, we you know, it feels weird having to wait when you see two of those vehicles just sitting there, but having them in the network and actively searching for rides has a cost to all of that, right? And um Tesla has a lot of data.

[00:02:10]They know who's on the app. They know who's where and what they're looking for and what rides they're trying to get, right?

[00:02:18]So, they There's a lot of lessons that need to be, you know, just learned when it comes to operating a ride-hail service.

[00:02:28]Tesla is going to take all that pertinent data and and and try to give you the best ride possibly uh possible. So, uh we are currently in XFY 3850.

[00:02:48]We saw, like I said, a couple of the the black ones I want to say we saw 2692 in the Tesla Houston Hempstead lot. And honestly, I would just be guessing at the other one.

[00:03:02]Uh but either way, we are on our way to Quotes, a restaurant that we found in Willowbrook Mall, basically, right next to Round One, which are two absolutely beautiful locations if you're in the northwest region of Houston within the uh robo-taxi geofence.

[00:03:24]Great food at Quotes and a good time at Round One. Right now, we're going to go, you know, catch a a a drink at Round One. We're not going to stay there too terribly long. This is an aberration for me. Like, typically, I'm not out and about afternoon.

[00:03:46]And we got about 16 minutes before we arrive at Quotes.

[00:03:50]Um I had a hair appointment today, so I decided to after the hair appointment, just check out and see what was happening around Tesla Houston Hempstead. We got to see two beautiful Cybertrucks, and you know, people they're business as usual. Service center booming, and showroom doing its thing. I I I love coming to this area simply to to hang around Tesla Houston Hempstead, honestly. But we're here. Uh I don't know what day it is as far as the Robo-Taxi service.

[00:04:30]But this thing is here, it's doing its job, and it's it's a wonderful wonderful ride.

[00:04:37]Car is clean, car smells great. Was just talking to my hair stylist about it.

[00:04:43]Uh she you know, she's like, "Well, you still you're still doing Uber?" And sadly, I'm like, "I haven't done that in quite some time." Which I do need to pick back up.

[00:04:53]I'd like uh some extra, you know, cuz my Uber typically goes directly to my brokerage account. So, not having that surplus go in there feels kind of odd to me.

[00:05:06]Uh haven't made it nearly as many deposits in the brokerage account. But we also have X Takeover coming up.

[00:05:14]And we've already booked our room, but Uber is a fine way to to get some extra cash considering I won't be doing any of the heavy lifting. I will be interacting with customers. That's about it. Other than that, my car will do all the driving. So, I think we're going to replace the air cabin air filters. We've got a couple on order, one for the Model X, one for the Model 3.

[00:05:40]And yes, China and I will pull the cars out of the garage, put them in the driveway, or, you know, wherever and uh you know, figure out how to to do those things ourselves instead of tying up the service center with, you know, superfluous things that we can do ourselves.

[00:05:58]I'm not mechanically inclined, so I'll let you know how that goes. Who knows? I might record it.

[00:06:17]Once the air filters are changed out, I'll probably do a steady regiment of Uber.

[00:06:24]And you know, still doing this as well cuz I like to just come every few few days or so to the geofence and and see what see what the service has to offer.

[00:06:37]Honestly, we're looking for vehicles we have yet to be in and right now there's still this one vehicle that has yet to be identified. There's various different robo-taxi badged vehicles that just aren't in circulation yet. So XJR 2204, I want to say there was kind of like a weird hiccup with that thing. So that thing may or may not exist as that right license plate. I don't know. But I'm here to try to catch them all basically and just like these cybercabs are validating, eventually there'll be some out here that are just picking people up. Will they have people in them?

[00:07:20]I want to say the cybercabs I saw today all had employees inside.

[00:07:27]Steering wheels.

[00:07:29]You know, typically what I would say is pure validate pure validation vehicles.

[00:07:35]So will those vehicles have the steering wheels ripped out? The the ripped out and then put into I don't know I don't know what Tesla's plan is or what their agenda is in the long term. How soon do we plan to see the gold in the geofence uh, picking up individuals like myself?

[00:07:59]I don't know.

[00:08:01]But, I'm here for it, and I just want to kind of document it as we traverse a part of Houston that rarely gets my attention. So, Oh, man, this is This is insane. Every time I do this, it feels surreal. Like, I can't believe this is in my city, you know? Very Very few people get to enjoy this because it's just not in their location.

[00:08:32]People have to kind of make that trip to do this, which I If you're invested in Tesla, I highly recommend it.

[00:08:41]Come see what this company is doing.

[00:08:45]And it tell me if you think this thing is overvalued or not, right? I I can't put my money in it fast enough.

[00:08:54]Being on a fixed income of of sorts, um, I I try to tell Yosh, you know, like, this is going to be bigger than If you think it's big now, it's only going to get bigger. So, every spare dollar I have either goes into, you know, trying the services or doubling it in my brokerage account.

[00:09:23]So, I have to kind of weigh those odds.

[00:09:24]I kind of kind of pull back. I want to be here every day.

[00:09:28]Um, but this is this not sustainable.

[00:09:43]We we've we've had this one a lot uh recently.

[00:09:47]And just want to gauge it. The software obviously is wonderful. I have it on my own personal vehicle, but there's nothing like being here in the backseat and I just wish I'd have moved in this area, but Yosha wasn't going to have that. I promise you. She She likes where we're at.

[00:10:11]>> [laughter] >> But you know, all that aside, I I can't wait till I'm able to summon this vehicle from my doorstep, hop in and and go to the local watering hole, and then have that thing reliably get me back at any time of the day.

[00:10:32]Normally, I'm a I'm like I said, I'm a I'm a morning guy. I like doing things in the morning.

[00:10:38]Uh I'm I'm not a go to the bar at 8:00 kind of guy anymore.

[00:10:44]So, but the goal is for Tesla to be able to operate around the clock.

[00:10:52]Midnight beyond, right? So, no matter what your circumstance is, you pull in all-nighters, you work the the the late shift, you know what I mean? There's just so many so many people that will benefit from this service that it kind of makes me smile.

[00:11:15]And needless to say, it makes me want to add to my brokerage account because the usefulness of it is beyond us. People look into the car, they are just you know, obviously seeing the badges on the side, but when we're stopped at this like this, we're stopped like this, people will look in the other cars. Like it's human nature to want to look into the car next to you.

[00:11:41]And when you see that there is nobody operating this thing, you you >> [laughter] >> you can't help but have your mind wander to to futuristic places. So, I I look forward to this becoming more Imagine the gold ones though.

[00:12:52]Uh Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable thing. I don't think there's too much going on. Let me get back to the Robo Taxi app. We currently have a uh 4 minutes before we um we reach our destination.

[00:13:19]Yeah, we'll probably we'll probably have a bite. I I I I I want the geofence to expand, but we're going to find some wonderful places within this geofence to to frequent, hang out. Um and I'd love for more of the community to to join me on these adventures, right?

[00:13:46]And um is this the point of the conversation where I uh plead for a job at Tesla? Um let's let's let's talk about it. Like um I probably need to I I was going to get a job for Transdev.

[00:14:10]Um probably on the way to pick somebody up, hopefully. It's out here patrolling, so we're not the only ones out here.

[00:14:18]But um yeah, maybe I need to add to my resume.

[00:14:26]Maybe that's a a factor. I don't have enough work experience, recent work experience.

[00:14:32]I really don't want to work for anybody but Tesla, but they wanted me to be an autonomous uh vehicle handler at Transdev, basically working for Waymo in this area. I would have had to gone to Arizona for training, which I don't mind. We just got a lot of things going on with the house right now, and Yoshi like gotten used to me not >> [laughter] >> used to me being available, right? Uh when it comes to Chewbacca and everything, right? It's uh you get kind of complacent. I was like, but I I if Tesla calls, I'm dropping everything to make sure I'm available for the company.

[00:15:20]And I I think she understands how serious I am.

[00:15:24]I kind of pulled back from that.

[00:15:29]Let's just call it it would have been a weird job, I'd imagine. But uh I'd have done it for a six to six months to a year just to get it on my resume properly.

[00:15:46]And uh who knows, I still might do it.

[00:15:50]If they're still needing me.

[00:15:52]But the the I just want to work for Tesla at any capacity.

[00:16:04]Just want to make sure the company is I know the company's in great hands.

[00:16:10]It's not like, you know, I'm a This is not They don't need me. I just want to work there.

[00:16:38]I remember going over the speed bumps a little more gingerly than previous uh rides. In previous rides, I remember going over the the speed bumps a little less uh Let's just say we went over the speed bumps pretty good.
