Dry and hot for Sunday in North Texas

[00:00:01]Good Sunday morning to you. It's hot and steamy once again here across North Texas. Temperatures right now, good morning to you Fort Worth, we're at 79°, 82 in Dallas, 76 in Waxahachie. Over towards Bowie, it's 74 in Greenville, 77. Now, it's a steamy start to the day.

[00:00:19]Dew point temperatures are in the low 70s right now, which is the measure of the moisture content in the atmosphere, and this combined with the actual temperature is making it feel a little bit hotter. This is going to be playing a big player in our forecast as we continue through the rest of the day.

[00:00:36]Temperatures will be climbing, but the feels like value will be as well.

[00:00:40]Temperatures eventually reaching the 90s by lunchtime, but it'll feel like the triple digits. We'll hold on to sunshine pretty much all day long. High temperature for the day will be 98° for the Metroplex. 103° is what it's actually going to feel like. So, if you're out and about, maybe the kids are playing in the yard, make sure they're taking frequent breaks into the air conditioning, and of course, drinking plenty of water, not only today, but through this next week cuz conditions continue to get even hotter. Now, we have a ridge of high pressure that will begin to develop in our atmosphere and strengthen over the next several days.

[00:01:15]So, actual high temperatures, the actual temperature outside, will be in the triple digits. 101° is in the forecast into Monday, but look at Wednesday. 105° is the actual temperature. But of course, we have a lot of moisture content in the atmosphere. That's what's going to make it feel even hotter. It'll feel like 107° in Tuesday's time period, and around 111° is what it's going to feel like into Wednesday. Likely to see heat alerts that will be present as we move into this upcoming week. If you have any outdoor festivities planned, just make sure you're planning to, well, drink plenty of water and take heat precautions cuz it's going to get even hotter. Dry conditions what I'm tracking on the satellite radar data as I zoom it out a little bit further. We have a low pressure system in Permian Basin still popping up some showers into the Edwards Plateau, but generally speaking I think we dry things up here across the Lone Star State. This low will gradually shift off to the west in the next 24 hours, but this could pop up maybe a stray shower for some of our western counties and anywhere to the north of the I-20 corridor as we move into this afternoon. Very isolated potential and I'm only giving us about a 10% chance. I think most of us just stay dry and just see lots of sunshine. It'll be an excellent day to go to the pool. Moving into the day tomorrow likely to just see dry conditions as well. It's all thanks to this big ridge of high pressure that will continue to dominate in the upper levels of the atmosphere. This is what's bringing on the heat, the dry conditions, and the sunshine throughout this week. But notice something else in the Gulf. I'm tracking this disturbance right here. It's getting its act together and this high pressure system may influence this disturbance. What I mean by that is it might have a westward trajectory. That's why we're keeping a very close eye on it. Potential for development is about an 80% chance in the Gulf over the next 48 hours. So it's something to keep an eye out for, especially if you have any friends or family along the central Gulf or the Gulf of the Texas region. We'll continue to monitor it, but as of now it's just something to keep an eye out for as we move into the next upcoming days.
