Weather forecasting involves analyzing current conditions, wind patterns, and atmospheric systems to predict temperature changes and precipitation. Cooler air from the northwest brings lower temperatures, while warmer air returns over the weekend. Precipitation patterns depend on weather fronts and daytime heating, with showers possible on Friday and scattered rain on Saturday and Sunday. Forecasters use tools like Doppler radar to track precipitation and provide detailed daily outlooks.

Sunrise Weather 5-13-26Ajouté :
Meteorologist Julie Henricks.
Well, after some overnight rain showers, we're headed for a sunny day. Cooler though. Temperatures this morning are actually warmer than they were yesterday morning, but this afternoon will not warm as much. It's going to be breezy again today, but winds from a different direction. Showers will be possible again Friday as we wrap up the work week. It'll be a much warmer weekend.
Temperatures well above normal both Saturday and Sunday. We may end up with a few scattered areas of rain over the weekend, as well. Current temperatures are sitting in the 60s in several spots.
It's 62 in Terre Haute, 63 in Effingham.
A few upper 50s out there right now, but again, it is warmer this morning than where we were 24 hours ago. But those winds have changed direction now, and so we see the winds coming in out of the northwest anywhere from 10 to as much as 15 mph. And that's that cooler air that's now working its way southward, and today we'll feel a difference behind that front that brought some of those areas of rain through the overnight. It was nothing heavy, but as expected, the tail end of that front did provide some rain showers. So you may notice that if your car was parked outside, you see some of those leftover sprinkles on the windshield, and perhaps again, maybe your flowers getting a little watering in the overnight hours, so you don't have to do as much work today. Currently on our Doritos Automotive Doppler radar, we're all clear in our immediate area.
There you can see those rain showers situated across southeastern sections of Indiana. So as you head out the door this morning, no need to worry about the umbrella. You really don't need a a coat, I don't think. Temperature-wise, we're in pretty good shape starting the day in the 60s. But here's the thing, as we get into the afternoon, that's where we're going to stay today. So that light jacket might be something you do want as we go through the day, and the reason why, not just the cooler air that's in place, but that wind is also going to pick up speed. And so if you're out and about this afternoon, you're definitely going to feel a difference from where we were yesterday at this time. But, we are going to stay dry both today and tomorrow. Our next chance of rain will come on Friday. And I think this will be relatively early in the day that we'll be dealing with some of this precipitation moving into the area on Friday. As we go into Saturday, there is going to be a chance for some scattered areas of rain. I think this is going to be the afternoon variety and I think it comes from daytime heating. As we get back into the 80s for both Saturday and Sunday. And then as we get into the start of next week, as we go into Monday and Tuesday, I also think we'll be dealing with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the early part of the week. As we look at rainfall totals over the next 7 days, again, you can see we are certainly all going to be picking up rain with maybe some of those heavier amounts located down to our southern counties. But, over the next 7 days, anticipate the opportunity for a few rounds of rain coming through. And temperature-wise, once we get this cooler shot in place, the story is to bring those temperatures back up through the weekend and the start of next week. Now, once we get that midweek system, we may drop temperatures a little toward the middle and end of next week, but stay seasonable after being above average.
Today, slightly cooler than normal. 68 for the high, but we will have sunshine with that northwest breeze. Tonight, partly cloudy, cool again. Tomorrow morning, you'll need the light jacket when we're back in the 40s. And we stay near 70 on Thursday and dry. Showers Friday early, a chance for some scattered rain on Saturday, and some showers and storms as we start next week. But again, that stretch of summer-like temperatures, you can see there on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, we're at or into the 80s and by Monday, maybe upper 80s to start the week. Wow.
