Up Flow Bog Filter No.2 with WATER FALL Coming along FastAñadido:
Good morning. Good morning.
It's May flower month. So, the kids here they're looking for flowers. I told them it's only May too. They need to get only small amount of flower before the end of the May.
So, the thing of course of this uh season, it's really hot. The only thing that I have lots of flowers this uh kalachuchi or plumeria.
Almost Joel's right down to the last of the stone work right there. And then they're going Actually, I got Millenaire cleaning up right now and then they'll begin rendering inside.
Um I cut that dense PVC foam core board.
Had them to cut it. I had them in the garage and it was half inch thick. So, I had them to cut two strips and we put them together.
Uh took stainless steel screws and screwed it down to the PVC pipe.
And we didn't cut the PVC pipe all the way in this time. We left gaps you see there.
And rebar coming around and down the back two rebar.
And uh then we'll we'll stone and cement all those little places right around that rebar there.
And it gives it a lot more support.
Well, they did a little rough job cutting that pipe.
And uh but it's getting there. Let's to down there and get that wood pulled off the bottom.
Do a little rendering up.
I am absolutely so happy with this. Look at this. The stone work is done.
And we just need to get in there and pull the wood a little loose around the bottom. Do a little touch up around at it down there.
And uh next job now is rendering inside.
They're over there mixing for it right now and they'll begin that and they'll start rendering it all up in there.
Meanwhile, while I'm out here, I just want to show you something.
This water has got a heavy load of algae in it right now. That's why we're getting these built so that we can control that, but I want to show you these hungry fish.
It's just a little bit of dry bread.
Look at that, boy.
They are on it, man.
I throw several pieces at once.
And they didn't grab those two at the edge yet.
There they go.
Yeah, so they will begin the rendering process in here, now.
It shall begin.
>> [snorts] >> Mhm.
Mhm.
>> My brother is the one to order guide them to go boating.
This is uh our guests and sisters day.
So you're going for the bank up boat.
All right, it's end of the day video.
Thank you so much for always watching our video.
So the twins are here, they come visit with us.
The ugly twins.
>> [laughter] >> Uh so yep, so anyway uh because their dad was the one to to touring uh my guests to for the boating.
So they're about to come back here. They are there.
See yes, it is them.
So tomorrow, I'm the one to be their tour guide to go uh some uh day travel.
Day day tour.
So tomorrow, I'll be the tour guide. So, he like to go to see the beaches.
So, thinking to bring them to San Joaquin and then we going to go stop there at the Garin farm.
And uh some of the oldest churches tomorrow. So, I'm going to be a tour guide with them.
Yes.
It's done. Almost done.
Hope they're enjoying their trip today.
Well, everybody, it's the end to another day and into another work week.
And where do we stand? Well, look at the rendering the guys got done in here for their first coat and let cure right now.
So, they really got that rendered up.
And they left it rough cuz I told them to build it up on here thick. I don't want it thin.
So, do not trial it out smooth because then it's hard to get our next coat over.
So, they'll resume on this on Monday.
And that's where we stand on that.
And uh then we'll have to let that cure for a while.
Then, I'll show you down here to the next one.
We had a little bit of rain earlier.
And boy, at first, man, that like, you know, molds and the fresh rain, you know, that's like molds and like a mildew or mold spores that come up. And man, boy, did it get my sinuses. I've just got such sensitive sinuses.
Look at that sand bar there. Look at everybody out there. They're pulling a net, hanging out on it, man.
It is all down through there right now.
Oh, let me focus. I was looking up above the camera.
There we go.
Everybody's out enjoying it and they're enjoying the clouds.
So, just give you a chance to see this.
So, down in here, that water is not real deep because there's about 18 in of of of gravel, kind of like this gravel at my feet right here.
Bed there, and there's a network of pipes that's drilled. And so, all the water pumping is coming up even. You don't see it. It's just rising up even through the whole pond other than that one pipe right there.
That little half-inch one is feeding for this little pipe for the baskets to be in.
And then it's got a little turned-up elbow at the end, and the water pours out at the end down there, you see.
So, this thing going to be like tomorrow, the water is going to be clear situation. That's just not going to happen.
I've got to get a colony of good bacteria growing down in those stones.
And the plants are really helping, too, though. And you see that water lettuce is really healthy.
Look at the color of it and all. It is really healthy.
And uh it's helping pull it down, too, but Melinda and one of our guests from Arizona that's here right now, uh they were talking earlier that they noticed already that the water, since they've been staying here, uh and I've had this thing flowing, that the water is already picking up more clarity to it.
Um I mean, it really had a heavy load on it.
Um I mean, it's definitely still got a lot of algae to it.
And it's definitely still got a lot of um you know, fish stuff, but it's improving.
And uh I'll do some things to help grow that colony faster.
There's multiple things you can do. You can go to like a river and get some uh stone out of a lower in a river something like that and add it in there and that'll uh give it like a natural already existing bacteria that'll start growing in your pond.
Um if somebody's got like like Cat for instance got filters on his aquarium that's already got a healthy uh colony living in it, well then you can gently rinse those filters out into the pond and and start that.
Or you can simply start it by getting like some I can dip some of this water out of the pond right here and put it in some like 5-gallon buckets, take some of that dry cow manure and put some molasses or brown sugar anything in there that'll help give it food and let it ferment for a few days. It'll actually start kind of off-gassing and uh bubbling up.
And then you can just take a scoop and throw some of that in each day into the pond and uh and get that colony going. And what I would do is right here under the bridge is where the pump is down here. That's why I think all this sucked this way.
And so what I do is pour it right down there near that pump.
So it would suck that uh right on over and and get it up into that uh that substrate that gravel bed over there in that filter. But listen, this has opened up so much opportunity for me if it don't get taken away from me.
Um I can grow all along that bamboo fence over there. I plan on putting a shade up but not this screen stuff. This screen stuff rips and it flaps up and down no matter what you do. It stretches. And when it gets heavy it sags really low.
It's kind of irritating. It's It's nice for temporary things.
But, I'll get some nice net like we've used around right here on this bio cubo that's been on there for years.
Uh that same net was on there when that thing used to be up here behind the garage.
And I can make a frame and we can stitch that with mono line around it and stretch it nice and tight over that end down there where that filter's going to be and where the little baskets will be in the pipe.
And that'll uh protect the plants quite a bit and protect them more in one way. I'll protect them from somebody reaching over that fence from the other side while while I'm bad taking the whatever I'm growing.
>> [laughter] >> Uh think I'm joking, man. They keep little poles and hooks and stuff.
Man, I never told y'all, but one time I happened to look out and seen something hanging over the fence.
And some of the the locals had made themselves some little bamboo poles and they were hanging a line over the fence trying to catch my fish over the fence.
Yeah.
Real stories.
Real stories.
And uh anyway I didn't I didn't make no fuss over it.
I went and laughed at them for it and just made a joke. We didn't get it. I I said I didn't care, but it was kind of funny, you know.
Uh I said, "Man, y'all don't have to do it that way. If you need them that bad, just come over here and ask me, man. And you don't have to do it the malicious way."
>> [laughter] >> Uh so anyway, uh but there's a couple new ones that moved in over there and I know they will strip me while I'm asleep, you know. I'm talking about on the vegetables and all.
They put They do is they put the kids up to it. They send the kids.
Yeah, they send their kids and they tell their kids what to do. A lot of that stuff going on back in the states, too.
Yeah. Funny stuff, though. It really is.
Anyway, I'm excited for it and it opens up a lot of opportunities for this one now. Look at that. Isn't that cool?
And um when we get it finished, that's going to be pretty big. And pouring that water off the front, man. Look at that. It's going to be awesome.
And this one back here is going to open up a lot of opportunities because even in the body of water down in those, like this over here, too, is going to be filled up, you know, probably 18 in deep with gravel.
And same thing, up flowing. You see the intake pipe right there. It's going to push in.
And you see the overflows right there.
Well, I can grow things in there as well, like can corn, um all their taro.
You can grow all kinds of things in there.
